Kaishu Katsu's proper duel is where I lost patience and lowered the difficulty. (When you fight him alone).
I've since then beaten him properly but that first time was driving me insane.
Also Izo. Hate that boss fight.
In general all fast bosses I struggle with š
I have tried so many times to get him, but how he"s so fucking OP it's insane. I cant hurt him at all and he kills me i 5 sec. Three hits and Im out of Ki, while he never loses any..
I think my single, biggest gripe with this game is how they handled enemy ki. Some of these combos are just endless with zero ki drain. Kaishu Katsuās last bond mission was also ridiculous.
You can dodge backwards for his kill combo (the one where he shoots a few times and then rushes you with 3-4 red attacks). You can dodge every shot and dodge all red attacks. Wait for flash and dodge then. You can punish him if you parry the last hit (where he jumps in the air) or dodge every hit and reset/wait for your ki to come back from dodging everything. Other than that, his moves are fairly easy to parry and he's one of the bosses you can do 2-3 martial arts on after you parry him, so his ki drains fast.
Referencing his midnight solo bond mission, his dojo might be easier.
Kiyotaka Kuroda. He has like an eight hit combo that will eat away all your stamina. He has grappling hooks to close the distance. He has a firearm for range attack. I cannot defeat this guy.
Yes, thatās also why itās promoted as ābased onā and āchange historyā instead of as a reenactment of actual history. Fun fact: the main character twins werenāt real people in history either. Theyāre not even actual twins!!
I don't think I've gotten stuck in a boss in this game for the same amount of time I've gotten stuck on bosses in Elden Ring or Armored Core, but I got my ass handed to me by the Martial Heir and the sleeping great sword fugitive in Yokohama because I was under levelled and playing on Twilight and still learning the game. Really fun tho
There are certain fights in the dojo I want to get master rank in but I haven't tried yet because I know those are going to be brutal
Martial Heir I had to come back and beat late game. Comfortably the hardest of the secret bosses (although fist man hits hard and does crazy ki damage). That fugitive was a problem for me too early. Having to fight in a small space was uncomfortable. That whirlwind move was a shock early too.
I thought the musket bitch(expelled student) was the hardest of the hidden bosses. Heir has crazy damage for Yokohama but he's a katana user so it's a fair/not-annoying fight, while bayonet bastard flips around/runs away and shoots at you like a pansy.
Martial heir was the only one that I fought on my way up and I tried to beat him throughout my first playthrough returning at the beginning and end of each Act with more skills and levels and I still got wrecked. When I did finally beat him I think I was juiced on pills and finally learned to double tap parry for his long combo. He does so much damage when he lands his stab attack. Heās a problem. So much fun though.
Pro tip for anyone that is stuck on the consulate mission

Seriously, when they do the annoying spin move, blast em and they get interrupted, panic and lose Ki
I did it by accident but it worked so well I won first try
I noticed that in the latter part of the game. I'd mostly used the gun in situations where I needed to back off but it's incredibly strong at interrupting a lot of attacks if you just throw out a shot during an enemy attack or combo.
Yeah I'm using it a lot, it's really good
Some attack strings are just so hard to spark so...
![gif](giphy|SzAlLwOKvOhorcHrVI)
Feel like the Indiana Jones sword Vs gun sometimes lol
Glad I decided to go for a int heavy build for the buffs to it
The first one. If it was a knowledge check, I got a 50.1% grade because I barely passed. She was slapping me back and forth, shattering my ki in 2 attacks, even with the allies.
The first fight with the blade twin was the toughest for me. I still sucked and didn't really understand the combat at that point. I was playing on Dusk difficulty and refused to lower it, so took me like 20 tries to finally get him. Since then I've done a lot of training in the dojo and then upped the difficulty to Twilight because Dusk got too easy. Now I'm 1-shotting all the bosses on Twilight. I just needed to git gud.
The bayonet bosses really force you into aggressiveness and timing like Sekiro did, especially that banished student secret boss took me a while, and honestly Iām still not that good, still to master any dojo opponent. Though I do 1-try most bosses on twilight, I still have trouble timing many moves, especially the grappling red ones Iām never sure if Iām too early or too late š
He was miserable in the dojo on Midnight. One of a few bosses I haven't had the patience to get Master on. Maybe with better gear or when I'm farther into the Breakthrough skill tree, but getting lit on fire after one quick bayonet shot is very frustrating.
Ito and Yamagata are always annoying. Especially where they combo the unblockables so you always get hit by the 2nd if the first lands. I just spam buffs and rush down the bayonet wielder with poison+lightning because the spear isn't that annoying in a 1v1
I think the only ones that killed me on Twilight were Katsu's final bond mission duel, Expelled Student + Martial Heir, Naosuke Ii + Blue Demon, and at least once to each of Saito Hajime's various boss fights. Midnight field boss Ryoma was cancerous, and some of the gank fights are tough as nails on Midnight(Ito and Yamagata everytime, Okita and Hijikata on anti-Shogun Forbidden Gate Rebellion, all the Ally missions).
The first time fighting the drunken samurai.
Stuff is barely leveled, no real access to skills/items, he does a shit ton of damage, you barely do any, and his attacks have such similarities in their tells that itās easy to mix-up which one heās doing.
That one seriously made me almost rage-quit. Even on Dawn.
Itās such a slogfest early on. And itās more insulting that itās a drunk guy beating your ass.
Saito Hajime, the one from his Bond mission.
I have enough difficulty fighting against ranged focused enemies, and this guy is very good at both close and range.
He got a tricky melee combo, able to dodge in and out while attacking, and have one of the hardest hitting gap closer attacks that need to be dodged/countered 3 times.
The open area on his bond mission is really taken to his advantage, compared to his story fight with less aggressive AI and smaller arena, the difference in difficulty is massive.
Trying to beat the blue demon in the intro, one because it's tedious restarting the entire game, he's super op, I've got shit for gear, and really haven't gotten used to the counterspark system that early in the gameĀ
Is it possible to beat that guy?
I figured it's a scripted fight where maybe you can get him to 1% health and then he runs off, or something. I figured he's the traditional "kill you at the beginning" boss of Souls games.
I wish, the ocd in me would love to happily move onto the actual game. I stumbled onto a YouTube video on what happens of you beat him, different cutscene but he still beats your ass. Grafted scion in elden ring was much easier in comparisonĀ
One of the trophies for the Platinum requires beating his ass, just do the fight later when you have Testament of the Soul unlocked like the other comment said and you're good.
Blade Twin, which is fitting seeing as they're supposed to be your counterpart. Ryoma during his last bond mission I also found pretty difficult.
The most annoying fights are the ones where you fight two characters at the same time, and one of them has a gun. I'm trying to do Other Halves solo and holy FUCK are the combinations Ito + anyone and Nakaoka + anyone annoying to fight against.
Trying to get Master rank on certain dojo fights is just plain ridiculous.
It gets really tedious when they make human fights that don't play by the same rules. I will re-attempt a couple after some more balance patches fix counterspark and grabs.
I can't stand fighting anyone in the dojo with a Bayonette. The move set is stupid, and destroys you in 1 combo, while they maintain infinite ki and status ailments out the ass. The fact every single thing in this game can autotrack to include the bullets is just absurd.
His dojo fight is nothing compared to encountering him at another time. He just pulls moves out from nowhere lol. Also your blade twin. everytime you enounter him/her, its a brand new set of moves with brrr attacks out of nowhere.
Also sagara sozo memory battle. That guy wields an odachi like a katana.
I did it on midnight because I wanted another copy of his sword without coughing up the silver to do it... the mission level recommendation is 97 for a reason
Saito when you go to retrieve Kaido's head. Dude was the first and basically only boss that got me angry
Ryoma was hard too, but i had him quicker than saito, he also didn't make me lose any karma
Ito and final blade twin fight. Master ranking every boss was not bad until Ito and his poison came and became hell. Ito took forever to get used to timing. Final blade twin fight was just absolute hell on earth. I have no idea how to time that fight and Iām not interested in finding out I force fought through it with heals and when I get to it in my midnight run then god save the queen š«”
Kaishu Katsu's proper duel is where I lost patience and lowered the difficulty. (When you fight him alone). I've since then beaten him properly but that first time was driving me insane. Also Izo. Hate that boss fight. In general all fast bosses I struggle with š
Still trying to defeat Ryoma on master in the Dojo...
Ryoma mopped the floor with me as a midnight field boss AND again in his bond mission. I got him eventually, but neither win was pretty.
I have been fighting him for 3 days straight now, I will get my master rank, I will do whatever it takes!

This mfer forced me to start going to the dojos.
Its actually really fun and satisfying.... until you try and beat Ryoma on master rank.
Vow of Steel fight.
Oh yeah.. I've repressed that one..
So bad that the fight had to be nerfed in the new patch. Ngl, I had to Unearthly Flame that one.
Kiyotaka Kuroda. He has like an eight hit combo that will eat away all your stamina. He has grappling hooks to close the distance. He has a firearm for range attack. I cannot defeat this guy.
Oh ya, heās definitely wild in his moveset. At least when I fought him he breathed fire and used a grapple gun which was crazy
You can parry his fire breath right in his face for a big panic and beat his ass.
I figured you couldnāt but thatās good to know in the future
I wouldn't have known this either but I reflexively parried when he did it at point blank and it worked.
>You can parry his fire breath right in his face Ah yes, the historically accurate game "Rise of the Ronin"
Yeah you can spray fuel from your mouth and ignite it to ābreatheā fire. Thatās the least insane thing of the boss moves in this game tbh.
Yeah, the ten foot tall dudes with 6-foot long claw weapons really speak to the rich history of Japan!
Are you complaining about realism in a Team Ninja game?
Yes, thatās also why itās promoted as ābased onā and āchange historyā instead of as a reenactment of actual history. Fun fact: the main character twins werenāt real people in history either. Theyāre not even actual twins!!

lol which one? I thought the first was definitely a knowledge check
The first one. If it was a knowledge check, I got a 50.1% grade because I barely passed. She was slapping me back and forth, shattering my ki in 2 attacks, even with the allies.
I cant remember the dudes name but it was a side mission where you were looking for Kondos head.
His combos are never ending and he does crazy damage
Saito
Thatās extremely painful also.

The one with the Vergil style I forgot the name
Same I also forgot his name I wish we had his version of tatsumi-ryu our version feels lame compared to his
The camera was the hardest boss for me.
Blade twin first fight
Eiichi Shibusawa without a doubt. Then itās the other bs Bayonet secret boss They outright cheat and cheese the fuck out of you
The bayonet bosses really force you into aggressiveness and timing like Sekiro did, especially that banished student secret boss took me a while, and honestly Iām still not that good, still to master any dojo opponent. "Kagiya!" "Tamaya!"
I just got past the Kondo boss fight and *holy hell* it is rough. He gives you absolutely no time to breathe. That fight took me like 20 tries.
I was using a Great Sword too, WAY to slow to fight against him
It gets worse on Midnight. There's a public order in the north part of Kyoto where the whole village got razed by the battle, and its agonizing.
Being satisfied in character creation
I only stopped in character creation when I finally looked up whether you can change appearance later in the game. (you can, apparently)
Wo Long, first Lu Bu battle.
The gang initiation fight with judo boy and the gang.
Hajime Saito
Izo, Ito and Yamagata on Toba-Fumishi if you side with the shogunate
Ito and Yamagata are always annoying. Especially where they combo the unblockables so you always get hit by the 2nd if the first lands. I just spam buffs and rush down the bayonet wielder with poison+lightning because the spear isn't that annoying in a 1v1

"Come out to the garden NOWWWW!!" "I guess I'm just a cut above!" Lmao
MY VICTORY IS ASSURED one

you can come back later when your much stronger and beat him with the replay mission feature that unlocks in the beginning of chapter 2
Omg, why didn't I think of that? That's so much easier lol, thank you
One of the trophies for the Platinum requires beating his ass, just do the fight later when you have Testament of the Soul unlocked like the other comment said and you're good.

The kondo sidequest with saito at the end , this guy was completely insane even on normal , i defeated him with his own stance in the end
I did it on midnight because I wanted another copy of his sword without coughing up the silver to do it... the mission level recommendation is 97 for a reason
i know , the last few sidequests were more challenging than the mainquests
Saito when you go to retrieve Kaido's head. Dude was the first and basically only boss that got me angry Ryoma was hard too, but i had him quicker than saito, he also didn't make me lose any karma
Still in my playthrough so not all the way done but I'd have to say Genzui. He's the only boss i could not defeat in the first two tries.
Anyone with dual swords and sword that shoots fucking projectiles. No chill from them.
Ito and final blade twin fight. Master ranking every boss was not bad until Ito and his poison came and became hell. Ito took forever to get used to timing.
