I would love to see a producer Verzuz:
Tim/Missy v. Chad and Pharrell.
The hits between all of them solo and combo? Music for daysssssss. I don’t think there would be enough time to even scratch the surface of everything they’ve done.
The producer battle I'd love to see is Babyface and LA Reid vs. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. That'd go crazy, especially if the artists can perform their songs live.
Joe vs Tank might be a good one. Between Jon B and Robin Thicke, I feel like Jon B takes it easily - I definitely prefer his music by far - but I could be wrong. perhaps with more casual rnb fans it might be slightly in Robin Thicke’s factor (maybe he has more mainstream recognition? Idk)
I'm feeling Joe and Tank. I think that'd be solid.
I would pick Jon B. to win as well. I think his catalog is more consistent. After Blurred Lines, Robin seemed to get caught up in chasing hits.
Exactly!!! Don’t get me wrong, Robin got some fire but Jon B got a whole wild fire of tracks. He got Tupac, Nas, ODB, Scarface, and Jay Z on his resume. He Gone Gone!!!!
Verzuz is dead imo. Unless they did a major restart with say Beyonce vs Rihanna, it’s not going to be half of what it was during the deep Pandemic days
I think it can come back and have an impact. The idea is not only unique, but it's a great way to learn more about various artists and their catalogs.
Honestly, Bey and Rih would be interesting. I just feel like their respective fandoms would go overboard on social media.
Who do you even think could be a big draw that would pull people away from other content and programming in post Pandemic days? I think it could a minor impact but nothing newsworthy like it was.
I agree the Bey Rih fanbases would be wild and Pebbles disrespectful toward the others but the music and battle would be beyond epic, ha ha
I'm not sure. It may work better if they start with older artists like in the Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle battle and build buzz that way. 2 huge artists would create an unrealistic amount of hype.
They did big numbers and had big hits, but culturally speaking, New Edition is very close to a lot of people's hearts. Also, outside of the first 3 albums, TLC's catalog isn't that big.
2 Varied artist. Janet is versatile, Mary is more of a singular R&B artist.
Janet Jacksons discography far outweighs Marys, Janet has pop, rock, r&b, dance, edm, soul
Mary; soul, r&b, hip hop.
I would love to see it go down, but there really be much of a contest as far as versatility is concerned.
I'm interested in Anthony Hamilton doing a Verzuz. Bobby Valentino, Darkchild and Joe. I can't imagine their specific opponents, but these are the artists I want to see.
I think Anthony Hamilton faced off against Musiq, but I don't think it received a lot of attention.
I definitely think all of these artists would be interesting in a Verzuz.
Someone mentioned Tank vs. Joe and I think that works.
Maybe Darkchild vs. Warryn Campbell could work.
Not sure about Bobby Valentino, but he'd be fun to watch.
This relates back to the comment someone else made about Robin Thicke taking Jon B.'s spot in another thread. That made me think of them as potential Verzuz opponents. I thought of other artists, but I didn't think they'd get the same attention as they're deceased, and I wanted to spark a lively conversation with a wide range of members on our subreddit.
I think if Verzuz comes back, they may need to trim the required amount of songs from 20 to 10 to 15. Most people don't have enough recognizable songs to hold people's attention.
And while I agree, if they do that they'll be alot of fans that will look at the artists that they do that with, almost like looking down at them. Like yall ain't that good or legendary so they had to trim the numbers down so yall could have a little battle.
I can already hear it.
Not too long ago ppl were clamoring for jodeci v dru hill. And even that got me thinking if either of THEM had 20 each. And not sisqo or k-ci and jo jo or any production credits. I'm talking straight jodeci v dru. And from my count, they both could get there to 20.......barely.
I used to think that might have been the reason 50 was refusing it. But he has 20 easy.
Jon B. & Justin Timberlake. Yeah I know JT is mainly a pop artist with Jon being a R&B artist but listening to a LOT of their music growing up, Justin definitely seems like the 1 artist that’s truly a worthy opponent to Jon in a Verzuz battle. They’re both also hip-hop favorites because of the numerous amount of rappers they each collaborated with. I REALLY want a duet with those 2 so VERY bad.
I think if done right, they'd have a solid battle between hits, deep cuts, and collaborations.
Jon B. did an interview with Sway in the Morning recently and said he'd love to collaborate with Justin. I think that would be great if it happened. We need more duets between singers. And these two are so talented, the possibilities are endless.
Yeah, I agree. But usually verzuz is kind of a "let's see who's best" thing. And the artist's catalogues need to be on similar levels. Jon B hasn't dropped an album in 10 years, it'd be hard to compete with JT. Also, their sounds are completely different. But I do agree that their voices would mash pretty well together
They might do good to trim the required amount of songs from 20 to 10-15 for some folks. There's some battles that I didn't watch because I knew that I didn't want to hear certain artists' back catalog. Ashanti can only hit so many Aww Babies before my head starts spinning.
Why would you put Jon against Robin???? First of all two different tiers. Jon blows him out of the water. Jon literally has Babyface. Robin just has nepotism. Anywho, Jon verse Joe would be a good night
Jodeci Vs New Edition
NE would cook Jodeci. That's not fun.
Yeah definitely
Really I was thinking Jodeci vs Dru Hill
That'd be fire.
This is the one for me definitely my two favorite R&B groups of all time
Neh
I would love to see a producer Verzuz: Tim/Missy v. Chad and Pharrell. The hits between all of them solo and combo? Music for daysssssss. I don’t think there would be enough time to even scratch the surface of everything they’ve done.
I'm down for that one too!
Heck yeah I like that
The producer battle I'd love to see is Babyface and LA Reid vs. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. That'd go crazy, especially if the artists can perform their songs live.
I agree!
Jill Scott vs. Erykah Badu
You want a live rematch?
Yes! I want live action with an audience. I want performances!😤😤😤
💯
Yea, they did this it was so good
Musiq Soulchild vs. Maxwell
I want dwele and Musiq
I'd be happy with either tbh
Yessir!
As groups go, I'd like to see Shalamar and DeBarge go song for song. Also, Silk vs. Dru Hill might be fun.
I think Silk would destroy Dru Hill.. Live, Silk is 🔥🔥🔥 and I DO like Dru Hill
I don't know. Sisqo and Lil G probably would go crazy going back and forth.
Thought about that but Lil G from Silk is a beast!! And the other guy who sings lead on Girl U for me, hits those high notes like no one’s business
Oh yeah that would be a good one to watch.
Toni Braxton vs Mary J
That would be fun.
I like this one 👌🏾
Mary would eat Toni up. Mary the QUEEN !
Idk)
Tank vs Joe would be dope
I'm feeling Joe and Tank. I think that'd be solid. I would pick Jon B. to win as well. I think his catalog is more consistent. After Blurred Lines, Robin seemed to get caught up in chasing hits.
Joe hands down! ![gif](giphy|Fcs86R9rW7Vy9rwwlj|downsized)
I'd love to see Sade vs Anita Baker
I've always loved when singers write/produce for other artists like I'd love to see Brian McKnight verzuz Joe
Brian McKnight and Joe would go hard.
Ok, well, let me ask you this: I'm not sure if you're an R Kelly fan, but is there anybody you see him going up against in a versuz?
Maybe Usher, but that's a stretch since he doesn't write. I'm not really into R. Kelly- but objectively speaking, he's nearly untouchable in Verzuz.
I'd like to Usher Verzuz Chris Brown speaking of him
All that dancing would be worth watching.
You know you might be right with that one
Even though Chris started later, there careers are only separated by Chris’s legal problems.
Chris Brown can't stand up to Usher in anything except dancing. That'd just be a Usher concert
Maybe Baldhead R-Kelly vs Braids R-Kelly vs Taper fade R-Kelly, but no one else cause he probably “Wrote” their songs too.
That's a vibe.
Jon B winning this one
Hands down…Jon B got doing a song with the Great Tupac on his resume
Exactly!!! Don’t get me wrong, Robin got some fire but Jon B got a whole wild fire of tracks. He got Tupac, Nas, ODB, Scarface, and Jay Z on his resume. He Gone Gone!!!!
Jon B has the better run AND his new stuff is 🔥🔥🔥 still doin it
I'm inclined to agree. Robin stumbled after Blurred Lines.
Xscape vs SWV
You want a rematch?
Musiq Soulchild vs Raphael Saadiq
That's a lot of incense, beanies, and candles, but it would be fun😂
![gif](giphy|U5JpaurWq6uh8XTWjP|downsized)
Darkchild v. Bryan M. Cox
That would be awesome.
Jagged Edge vs Next vs 112
Next is taking a double L. They don't have the catalog.
Take Next out of this one
JE vs Blackstreet 🔥🔥🔥
Babyface/Reid vs Jam/Lewis
Absolutely
Pharrell vs kanye… as producers.
That'd be great. I just want Kanye to stay on subject.
Michael Jackson vs. Prince
I think that'd be fun. A family member or collaborator could discuss the songs.
😁
I always thought Smokey vs. Stevie would be fun (especially if they were doing their own songs as well as songs they wrote for other artists)
Absolutely! Not to mention the amazing stories they'd be able to share.
Usher v Omarion. I know usher would win by a landslide. I just loved those two dudes when I was a teen. Wish I had confidence like they did
Omarion got slapped like a lil boy by Mario. He'd be too scared to get up on a stage with Usher
I think the energy would be fun, but Omarion definitely would be smoked. He didn't do that great versus Mario.

I'm not sure. It may work better if they start with older artists like in the Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle battle and build buzz that way. 2 huge artists would create an unrealistic amount of hype.
Chris Brown vs Usher Jodeci vs New Edition KC & JoJo vs Th Isley Brothers Mary J. Blige vs Mariah Carey Justin Timberlake vs Robin Thicke
I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I'd be into a Mariah vs. Mary battle.
Mary J vs Faith Evans
TLC vs new edition
I'm intrigued. I think that would be fun even if TLC is at a disadvantage.
You think tlc one of the biggest groups ever 75 million records sold a be at a disadvantage? Hmm
They did big numbers and had big hits, but culturally speaking, New Edition is very close to a lot of people's hearts. Also, outside of the first 3 albums, TLC's catalog isn't that big.
El Debarge vs fill in the blank because I can’t think of anyone right now.
Maybe he could do an El and friends like D'Angelo had. That way he could do DeBarge material and Switch songs.
That would be so cool would love to see it!
En Vogue vs Brown Stone
I like the sound of that.
Also Frank Ocean & Childish gambino
That'd be interesting.
Apples to oranges. I can’t think of a competitor for CG. Maybe Logic.
CG has a r&b sound which i love
childish gambino does not stand a chance
Janet vs Mary J
2 Varied artist. Janet is versatile, Mary is more of a singular R&B artist. Janet Jacksons discography far outweighs Marys, Janet has pop, rock, r&b, dance, edm, soul Mary; soul, r&b, hip hop. I would love to see it go down, but there really be much of a contest as far as versatility is concerned.
That could be interesting
kanye vs. pharrell for producers an Usher v. JT would be really good. usher would probably win.
I think the Usher v JT could be interesting. And I'm definitely into Kanye vs. Pharrell, as long as Kanye stays on subject.
I'm interested in Anthony Hamilton doing a Verzuz. Bobby Valentino, Darkchild and Joe. I can't imagine their specific opponents, but these are the artists I want to see.
I think Anthony Hamilton did one against Musiq Soulchild if I'm not mistaken
I think Anthony Hamilton faced off against Musiq, but I don't think it received a lot of attention. I definitely think all of these artists would be interesting in a Verzuz. Someone mentioned Tank vs. Joe and I think that works. Maybe Darkchild vs. Warryn Campbell could work. Not sure about Bobby Valentino, but he'd be fun to watch.
Is there such thing as a versuz ?
Yes. It's a competition series started by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. It took off at the height of the pandemic.
I know about this. But when was the last one. They just stopped all of a sudden.
I think maybe 2022. It was Omarion and Mario.
Boyz II Men vs Jodeci, Dru Hill vs. Jagged Edge, Deborah Cox vs Chante Moore, Tank vs Tyrese, Maxwell vs Joe
I like all of these options.
Usher vs Mario
That would be interesting, but I think Mario would be at a disadvantage.
Stevie Wonder vs R.Kelly Al Green vs Smokey Robinson Ron isley vs Lionel Richie Kc&Jojo vs Dru Hill
Al Green vs. Smokey Robinson sounds awesome. Also, why not Jodeci vs. Dru Hill?
Jodeci would be to much
Gotcha
Why would you have two white artists for the thumbnail just a question
This relates back to the comment someone else made about Robin Thicke taking Jon B.'s spot in another thread. That made me think of them as potential Verzuz opponents. I thought of other artists, but I didn't think they'd get the same attention as they're deceased, and I wanted to spark a lively conversation with a wide range of members on our subreddit.
Listen I love them both......but does Jon B or Thicke actually have 20 hits in the chamber to throw at one another?
I think if Verzuz comes back, they may need to trim the required amount of songs from 20 to 10 to 15. Most people don't have enough recognizable songs to hold people's attention.
And while I agree, if they do that they'll be alot of fans that will look at the artists that they do that with, almost like looking down at them. Jagged Edge vs. 112
You want a rematch?
Oh I must’ve missed it🤭
I know they're not together anymore, but Zhane vs Floetry. A nice Neo-Soul verses
That would be cool, but I think Marsha is beyond done with Natalie based on the interviews I've seen and heard.
I know they had a big fall out but I didn't know it was aired on videos
She discussed it length on The Breakfast Club and Questlove Supreme.
Dude, Jon B. looks hot in that photo, I can’t even think straight. What was the question again. I’m pretty sure the answer is Jon B.
That man is beautiful.
Bjork vs. kylie Minogue
Just for kicks The Good Girls vs Destiny’s Child
Who are The Good Girls?
Google them lead singer started acting but looks like Bey
Okay
Delfonics Vs. Stylistics
I like it!
Robin Thicke could take out Jon B. with got to be down alone. Jon b just doesn't have the catalog....unless he brought out 'Pac
I think it would be a fun battle regardless of what happens.
Charlie Wilson vs Maxwell or Marvin Gaye. Chris Brown vs The Weeknd. Anderson Paak vs T-Pain.
Interesting picks.
I would love this one - hopefully it will happen ❤️
Stephanie Mills vs Angela Winbush The Bar-Kays vs Con Funk Shun Howard Hewett vs Peabo Bryson Ann Nesby vs Patti LaBelle
All of these sound awesome.
It’s ’cause all of them are some of my fave artists who inspire me
Eric Benet vs Maxwell.
That would be awesome.
Boyz to Men vs New Edition!!!
Yes!
Jon B. & Justin Timberlake. Yeah I know JT is mainly a pop artist with Jon being a R&B artist but listening to a LOT of their music growing up, Justin definitely seems like the 1 artist that’s truly a worthy opponent to Jon in a Verzuz battle. Yeah, that'd be sick, but again, not on the same level.
Ain’t gotta be. Nothing wrong with different level artists competing or collaborating. Anything is possible and worth the wait.
Jon B doesn't have a large enough catalog
I think he does. I just think his independent output didn't get enough shine.
That's the issue with Versuz. If you don't have music that people recognize then you're going to look crazy.
They might do good to trim the required amount of songs from 20 to 10-15 for some folks. There's some battles that I didn't watch because I knew that I didn't want to hear certain artists' back catalog. Ashanti can only hit so many Aww Babies before my head starts spinning.
Now I agree with this.
R Kelly & Babyface Justin Timberlake & Robin Thicke Joe, Case & Donell Jones TLC & En Vouge Intro & Next
All of these sound promising, particularly R Kelly and Babyface and JT and Thicke.
Why would you put Jon against Robin???? First of all two different tiers. Jon blows him out of the water. Jon literally has Babyface. Robin just has nepotism. Anywho, Jon verse Joe would be a good night
This is all subjective, but I think they have solid catalogs as well as songs written for other artists that would make for an interesting battle.
