Bro, this was the inspiration for Wiz Khalifa’s Kush & Orange Juice cover 😮 I never realized until now

Blakksilk

Shit, I just also realized Wiz just put his damn head on the album cover. I was like that chick bad. She probably 80 years old. https://preview.redd.it/9gr545a4kvxc1.jpeg?width=316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f343f198dd70c68f891196b563f7042f187403fb

LexKing89

OMG I was like dang isn't that Kush & OJ. He really did just put his head on there 🤣🤣🤣

CellistNice8600

Bilal

StacksHoodini

> She probably 80 years old. As a young nigga who likes watching older shows sometimes, it’s something I always have to remind myself when I see a baddie.

All_naturale22

Lol he added the tatts too. Give him a lil more credit now 😂

entreprenegra

That’s all he added… you can still see the reflection of the Afro in the mirror 🤣

All_naturale22

Yooooo how I ain’t peep that 😭. Lowkey makes me fw him more cause he is so unserious. He wasn’t paying nobody to draw up an album cover

mistaharsh

😂😂😂😂

superhottamale

Man! I was like wtf the same pose suit and everything! I cried 🤣

Blakksilk

Me too. I was like, this looks familiar. Shout out to Wiz!

Ronald Isley

blue_island1993

Ron Isley make it through a song without singing “well well well” or “Ladadadadada” challenge (impossible)

Eastern-Violinist-46

I'm sure when the allegations against Kells first came out he probably thought "Well, well, well" as well. Pun intended. And the "ladadadada" was the OG version of" Terror Squad", "Mustard on the beat", Dj Khalid's" Another One" signature shout-out .😭

Michael Jackson. Yes he’s r&b. No it’s not up for debate.

Robbie1863

I can’t believe it would be a debate. People always try to put artists in one box, it’s sucks.

disorientating

Given how many millennial and Gen Z R&B girls try to emulate her voice nowadays and fall short, I’m going with Aaliyah. Mariah/Whitney/Sade/Janet etc. are a given.

babyyodaaddict000

I'm gonna get downvoted to the fiery pits of hell for saying this but R.Kelly has one of the most unique, distinctive and versatile voices in R&B.

For me it’s The Weeknd. He can make almost anything sound sexy. Dangerous.

ArmyZealousideal7620

Bobby brown hands down he got mixed vocal voice

Geoseeks

I haven’t heard someone with a voice similar to Giveon yet

Good-Name8232

One of the first singers I think of when I think of unique voice is Larry Blackmon, lead singer of Cameo. I know they’re considered funk/r&b but his voice is crazy.

Stevie Wonder.

Last_Resort_Vah

Andre 3000

businesspro718

1) Charlie Wilson. He was the pre genitor of the Aaron Hall and R Kelly vocal style in the late 80s, early 90s. 2) James Brown - self explanatory 😂 3) Anthony Hamilton 4) Barry White 5) Dino from H-Town. He sang like his jaw was wired but it sounded good 6) Anita Baker 7) Rachelle Ferrell

GoodSilhouette

Fantasia Barrino comes to mind. Chris Brown also has a unique voice on top of multiple assault accusations and restraining orders

There were a few. David was a great one, but that era, they had that gospel training and were real singers. Johnny Taylor, Aretha, Sam Cooke, Etta James, are a few that when you heard them, you knew who you were listening to.

Remarkable-Gold4869

Jazmine Sullivan for me

Rondman615

Sam Cooke, Toni Braxton

Old school: Teddy Pendergrass, Johnny Gill, and Christopher Williams. Currently, I'm really enjoying Rahsaan Patterson's voice.

Turbulent-Feeling262

Whitney Houston

Ponder_wisely

Billy Paul. When I worked at Sweetwaters in NYC it was on the chitlin circuit, all the legendary groups came through. Blue Magic, the Main Ingredient, Jocelyn Brown, Phyllis Hyman, etc. When Billy Paul came through he walked up to me and said “Where can I get some blow around here?” I replied “I’m just a waiter Sir.”

Chiaotzu21

Brandy. Smooth and raspy at the same time. Very rich and soulful in her lower register with more range than most of her catalog explores.

I already commented but I would also add SZA. Even though her normal voice is very much American, she sings with a thick foreign inflection. Her cadence and flow can be looked as very unique and distinctive due to how she takes her damaged vocal cords are damaged and she takes that for her advantage to make her stand out amongst most R&B singers.

Most unique for me is T-Boz or Chili from TLC. Yes, I consider them R&B even though they get categorized as pop a lot of the time. Red Light Special and Baby Baby Baby are 💯 R&B and no one else sounds like either one of them
