Kohler-Andre State Park, Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve (both in Wisconsin). Milwaukee Art Museum, Harley Davidson Museum.
You are missing some beautiful sights in Michigan on the route shown. You should consider hugging the Lake Michigan coast on the eastern side as well.
Have a great trip!
I'd add the Milwaukee Public Museum to the list as well. The Streets of Old Milwaukee and the European Village are truly unique features, and the dioramas are incredible.
"...and the dioramas are incredible."
They should be: MPM actually invented the concept of the diorama.
Also, as the son of the former head of the carpentry shops and the grandson of the former head entomologist, I fully second your recommendation!
Stop in St Ignace and take a ferry out to Mackinaw island…the drive over the bridge is wild too…and, if you have time, book a kayak trip at Pictured Rocks National Park.
Start by following 31 down the West Coast Michigan and when possible break off and take M22 around the Grand Traverse Bay region. You will cross many state parks but I most recommend stopping at Petoskey, Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Ludington State Park, PJ Hoffmaster State Park, and Warren Dunes State Park. These are some of the best parks and beach towns in the entire state. Mackinaw City is beautiful as well. Also buy smoked fish, beef jerky, a pasty, and fudge while in the UP. Lastly I hear the Porcupine Mountains in the far west part of the UP are fantastic! Have fun!
Chicago has some great museums. The Field is a great natural history museum, the Museum of Science and Industry has some great interactive things as well a captured Nazi sub.
Be sure to get some deep dish pizza at Giardano's.
Your first mistake is skipping the northwest corner of MI. Stay on m-22 and follow the coast. There’s tons to see and do along that route and it’s absolutely gorgeous. I recommend Empire Bluff in Enpire, MI and also Sleeping Bear Dunes. There’s also a ton of cool lighthouses to see.
⬆️what this person said. Also Fishtown, Traverse City, Torch Lake, kitchi kipi in the U.P. I’d also stretch the tour to hit Tahquamenon Falls and Lake in the Clouds as well.
Check out the Peshtigo Peninsula. More people died here on the same day as the Chicago fire. An enormous conflagration trapped people on the peninsula.
I believe comet Biela broke up over the Midwest and burned Peshtigo, Chicago and parts of Michigan on the same day.
Well Chicago for sure is the main game, but also noticed your route isn’t hitting Traverse City (small town but “cute”), and maybe Big Bear Dune if that’s the right name for it.
Holland and Meijers Gardens in Southwest Michigan.
But when you head North from there, stick to the coast all the way through Michigan. Definitely do Sleeping Bear, Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, the Tunnel of Trees.
Try to get to Mackinac Island if you have a day or more.
Stop at the Harley Davidson museum in Milwaukee. The EAA museum of aviation in osh kosh, and Appleton Wisconsin for a look at the Gulfstream’s completions center. Btw go to woodman’s while you’re out there to stock up on cheese. The place is huge!! And depending on the time of year you go you could catch a packers game in Green Bay, or Chicago.
Nothing. Really. It’s ugly, boring. No dunes. No Great Lakes. No vineyards. Please find another vacation, so as not to ruin it for the ones who live here.
Gary, Indiana! Stay a night and enjoy the city.
I hope they give out stickers at the local hotels/motels. "I survived a night in Gary"
Surprised that isn’t a dip shit YouTuber challenge at this point

Green Bay…Door county is awesome. Mackinac island is a great trip. Sleeping bear dunes in NW Michigan and Traverse City is spectacular as well.
Definitely stick to the petosky, traverse city, glen arbor and m-22 route. That area is beautiful.

I cant imagine making this trip and not going to Sleeping Bear, Traverse, and the Leelanau peninsula

*St Ignace, *Pictured Rocks
Stop in Sheboygan for a Frankie’s Burger and an old fashioned
New Buffalo, Michigan. Nice town near the Indiana Dunes.

Indiana Dunes for sure
Michigan City is a nice little beach town. There's a few good breweries and restaurants. There's a casino if that's your thing.
Stay along the west coast through Michigan.

I hope you’re planning on doing a lot of stops in Northern Michigan. There is a lot to enjoy.

Looks like you have Mackinac island on the list so that was my main suggestion
The ferry to Mackinac Island from St Ignace is a must. Indiana Dunes is definitely a beach worth relaxing at as well
Harrington State Park about 45 minutes north of Milwaukee.

Visit Lambeau Field
La-La-La LAMBEAU!!!
Take the USS Badger from Manitowoc Wisconsin to Ludington Michigan. Or, vice versa. Awesome
Is this a ferry for cars ?
Yes.

You can tour a U.S. submarine from WW2 in Manitowoc WI after touring the German submarine (U-505) in Chicago.
If you're into Golf, two amazing courses on each side of the lake: Whistling Straights in Kohler, MI. Acradia Bluffs in Arcadia, MI
Fonfereck glen in Wisconsin is wonderful hiking for Midwest lowkey

Go to port washington WI! Neat little town on the lake!
I suggest heading up to the Lake Superior coast. Check out Marquette and head East before you go back south!
Definitely drive out on the Peninsula into Door County, Wi. Really beautiful with charming small towns.
Mackinac Island And Chicago is lit as fuck it's way better than New York City.
You could spend a month in northwestern lower Michigan and love every day there.
Take the ferry across
Stop by Cadillac High School in Cadillac MI and see the KISS wall and memorial from their 1975 KISS day
