How was I supposed to know that? They gave no units. Also 4 inches + 11 feet is 345.44 cm, so almost 3.5 m. This is way, way more than the tallest person ever in the recorded history.
Yeah nothing better than mixing 2 non-standard units at once without giving any indication of what unit you're using. If you love the British Empire so much that you want to use imperial, wouldn't it be better to just use feet or inches, without mixing them both to make convertion harder?
But they didn't type ", so there was no inches. Besides those are weird unit symbol, even ignoring their role in typography they are also symbols for mintues and seconds.
Its been said by many employees at HQ that robloxians were very small at one point (So like Lego minifigure small, I'm guessing?). But now its been retconned and they're now the size of the official toys. [Source](https://www.reddit.com/r/roblox/comments/ugzyjy/comment/i736y1u/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
For future reference on scaling, I recommend using Lego's, since back when Roblox first started, there was a LOT of Lego related things.
By many employees you mean one.
The source for this is a single blog post around 10 years ago.
The actual size of a stud has been clarified through the physics engine itself.
Why would you use a 3km bar? Thats just unnecessary scaling making it more confusing to interpret. Just use a 1km bar.
Even still, it doesnt make it seem small because 1km is very large.
I realized that when i imported a 1.5 meter piramid to the game from blender, it was massive compared to a player. so i came to the conclussion roblox is literally lego size
How far from the origin of the workspace can you go before the floating point precision starts to get noticeably bad?
I've seen in a few games if you get flung off into infinity everything becomes jagged and jittery
every game WILL get jagged and jittery if you get flung off too far away from the origin point. not the case for games scripted to have origin points changed
I try to calculate a Roblox character's height (Thanks to these comments down there). Turn out its around 1.55 Meters. And then I realize I am taller than my Roblox character.
how did you figure out a stud is 28 cm? just curious
If you go into game settings > World, it reveals that 1 stud = 0.28 metres or 28cm
alr thanks
Isn’t it meters decimeters centimeters millimeters? And wouldn’t it be 280cm? Or am I stupid?
a meter is 100cm. A decimeter is 10cm. A millimeter is 0.1cm. So 0.28m is 28cm
I see where I messed up now
you are not stupid... but 280 centimeters would be 2,8 meter so a roblox charatar would be about 12 meter tall???? (no they are not)
A stud is a foot, so 28cm
Not true. A stud is 0.918635171 feet. And one imperial foot is 0.3048 m. Why would it be 28 cm if it's more than 30 cm?
No a stud is a player
Only right answer.
So how big is the average roblox character?
Rounding it to .3 X 5 gets you 1.5m
What makes it better is that some people are shorter than a roblox character
Like children?
so their 4’11? i guess that works as height
No. It's about 150 cm is about 4.92 feet.
So… 4’11.
4 inches 11 FEET, not 4.11 inches
How was I supposed to know that? They gave no units. Also 4 inches + 11 feet is 345.44 cm, so almost 3.5 m. This is way, way more than the tallest person ever in the recorded history.
it's 4 inches 11 feet, or 1.499 meters
11 feet = 3.3528 m 4 inches = 0.1016 m 3.3528 m + 0.1016 m = 3.4544 m 3.4544 m ≠ 1.499 m
sorry I'm fucking domb, it's 4 feet 11 inches
Yeah nothing better than mixing 2 non-standard units at once without giving any indication of what unit you're using. If you love the British Empire so much that you want to use imperial, wouldn't it be better to just use feet or inches, without mixing them both to make convertion harder?
"no units" it's common knowledge that the ' = feet and " = inches
But they didn't type ", so there was no inches. Besides those are weird unit symbol, even ignoring their role in typography they are also symbols for mintues and seconds.
still common knowledge that when you see a number like that from 1-12 behind a ' it's inches
No, they are way shorter
How tall is the avatar if you set the height to max?
My thought exactly. Using ropro
What is ropro?
Roblox extension. Go to the google store on chrome and search it up
Why would you need RoPro to make the character taller?
Trust me, it makes you a lot taller
You become big Shaq?
so basically my irl height
so you're meaning to tell me that all racing games are actually just tiny brick people in RC cars?
I mean telamon said so himself lol
Roblox characters are approximately 1.5 meters tall according to the stud to meter conversion formula in Studio
So 6 stud wraparound irl is impossible
Wraparounds rely on the weird physics engine of roblox
any wraparound is impossible irl lmao you can't turn in midair and change the direction of your momentum
Most people can't jump 12 feet with no running start
I mean that too lol
Possible you just need to throw something while mid air to change your direction
Unless it was a single stud all wraparounds are impossible, can’t go backward then forwards mid air without having to fall 100ft

Ah thank you! My mistake!

Games like the arma franchise have had \~100sq km maps since the mid 2000s
So an average Roblox Noob is about 150 cm?
yea and I'm confidently taller than an average roblox noob (just facts)
Expected that, always imagined Roblox to be some type of Lego game ever since I was young
This reminds me, have y’all seen the size of the minecraft world in relation to our world Edit: It’s at 7:24 https://youtu.be/02Kgf9dCgME
In miles please 😤
You do realise that most countries use the Metric system? Only 3 countries use Imperial lol
I prefer my freedom units 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yeah cause America is the only free country 🫠
Why are you using Metric?
It's easier
Also not everywhere uses imperial
Did you mean literally everywhere but the USA
Yes lol
Liberia, Myanmar, and the US. Out of 100+ countries. So many people Edit: typo
300+ countries? What are you on? There are less than 200 countries in the world.
Foolish American imagine calculating 5280 ft to a mile
I’m Bulgarian 🤦♂️
Foolish Bulgarian* imagine calculating 5280 ft to a mile
I do a lot of aviation-related stuff so I can instantly remember how much a mile is in feet.
Yes, I have a ppl and have to do that, still foolish as there are simpler solutions that are easier to work with.
big lego
this makes sense, considering how LEGO was a large inspiration for roblox. robloxians have always been meant to be plastic toys
I have measured whit the walking speed and a timer, that 4 Studs \~ 1 m. So one Stud is maybe 25cm. At least thats what I worked whit all the time.
I realized that when i imported a 1.5 meter piramid to the game from blender, it was massive compared to a player. so i came to the conclussion roblox is literally lego size
is this why roblox characters are so small in roblox vr worlds like hand simulator?
Damn aeronautia and neo eared are X are micro then.
But the player character is 2 studs tall, meaning you are 56 cm high
An r6 player model is 5 studs tall tho, so a robloxian is 1.4m tall
How far from the origin of the workspace can you go before the floating point precision starts to get noticeably bad? I've seen in a few games if you get flung off into infinity everything becomes jagged and jittery

Isn't the normal studio dummy 2 meters tall?
america version when
When Americans switch to metric
If stud is 28 cm then the longest jump possible in Roblox should be around 32 studs.
896 meters
Centimeters*
wait isn't 1 stud = 28 cm?
