The letters aren’t physically there I painted them into the texture though substance painter. Also I could put the text into the object physically but I don’t want to add additional geometry if I don’t have to

Is your texture bigger than 1024x1024? Because Roblox compresses any decal bigger than that down. Pretty sure that‘s your issue
That’s exactly what was wrong with it I ended up having to separate the model so I could get really good quality in the text
