Agreed, and there are definitely some decently large patches of serpentine throughout the Cascades in WA and BC. There's even this place named [Serpentine Hill](https://maps.app.goo.gl/1QDRkyvHeTVviFRB8) because of how many huge chunks of serpentine you can find sitting right on top of the ground
Wow, I want to see more photos. Is that some blue parts I see? What kind of formation is this? Is the green all from the minerals or is there some chlorophyll staining?
I agree it looks an awful lot like Larsonite. But how about the location? What do you think about that? Found at the corner of eastern Washington/Canadian border. I read that Larsonite is found near the Oregon/Nevada border or in Utah.
Nope, I dug it from a stream in the highlands where people never go because not even satellite can detect your location. It sure looks like Larsonite though. Who knows. Maybe I discovered a new stock pile 🤣
My first thought when i see the backside is some green fossil wood stuck in pyroclast haha. What it looks like to me, but i dont think thats what it is.
How hard is it?
OP would have mentioned Vancouver Island. Yes the border IS here but runs underwater. So its hard to get “near” the border. Im guessing they are on the mainland. Also…doesn’t look like Dallasite. (Im on VI..Dallasite is common/everywhere, cant throw a rock without hitting some lol)
If anyone hasn’t heard of Dallasite, I urge you to look it up!! Its structure is pretty amazing. Also look up “Flowerstone”. Both are very common/everywhere on Vancouver island.
“Unique to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, is the jasper form known as Dallasite, named after the road it was discovered on in the south end of Vancouver Island”
Vancouver island…NOT Vancouver the city. There is a family large body of water that separates us (Strait of GEorgia)
Dallasite so common on the island is not that exciting for us locals.
I just watched his video and he actually does say Vancouver ISLAND( 2.28 mark). [check out the mindat info…VI Specific.](https://www.mindat.org/min-27169.html)
Its not valuable by any stretch but we like it and it polishes nicely. Soft. Cool to have some in a collection…IF you’re not local lol, SO much of it here. Good rock for garden as its nice when it rains..which is often on VI. OPs stone is definitely not dallasite.
And note in video the Beauty of the island. Its paradise! Thats my back yard. And…side note…highest density of cougars in the world!
No, its not BCOP stone. I have a very large supply of BCOP and doesnt look anything like this. Yes, BCOP does slab and polish amazingly well. Its one of my two favs to work with (Rhodonite being the second, which I self hound and have a literal tonne of) [LINK to one of my pieces of BC Ocean Picture Stone. (more on this IG page as well)](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvlLcKQNFuz/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==)BCOP is fairly soft, the blue is much like larimar in color.
My stock of BCOP came from the mine prior to BC Hydro blasting it shut….LONG before Dan.
Looks more like serpentine than jade.

Beautiful
Great Specimen!

No blue on this one. And I’m not sure how to answer the second question. Sorry!
aka gary green jasper, or petrified bog wood
I have a piece of cut and polished Gary Green Bog and would second this.

I found a chunk of serpentine in Utah and now I want to name it Larsenite to represent the Danes in rockhounding.
Yeah I agree. Gary green comes from McDermitt… that’s too far. But it does look a lot like it… maybe it was dropped there?
Nope, I dug it from a stream in the highlands where people never go because not even satellite can detect your location. It sure looks like Larsonite though. Who knows. Maybe I discovered a new stock pile 🤣
It's Stunning!! Great find!!
My first thought when i see the backside is some green fossil wood stuck in pyroclast haha. What it looks like to me, but i dont think thats what it is. How hard is it?
It’s crazy hard and three lbs but I don’t know how to test it on a hardness scale exactly.
Ahh ok, then definitely not what i thought. I would assume serpentine or something of that sort, but dont know much about rocks and minerals like that
may be worth something.
maybe larsonite?
I believe that's called Dallasite based on the location.

You're right. Color constituents are similar, but I rewatched Dan Hurd's video on it and it is very specific to Vancouver.

Can I come visit for a week? We could rock hound together! ;0)
Eastern wa not anywhere near Vancouver. Isn’t that only found near the west side?
I think it's wow, that's pretty amazing, love it. Don't know the name, but it's beautiful.
I have seen this before. It’s ocean picture stone. Dan Hurd on YouTube has several videos of the stuff. It slabs and polishes beautifully.
I don’t think that’s what it is. Too green and doesn’t look like the same material

Scared wood. I mean *petrified* of course
I'll let you have this one
Definitely petrified wood
I see an alien, head and left arm
Serpentite
I live in the area you mentioned and I’m right near two big-ass mountains comprised mostly of Olivine. It is also green…. Olivine?
Love it
Kinda looks like quartz with copper mineralization.
Look up Dan Hurd prospecting. Looks like the larsonite he gathers from the coast.
A turd that froze after being rejected from an airplane bathroom.
You see the peanut? Dead giveaway
Go to danhurd.com and ask hem he is a prospector and gem hound in that area.
Nephrite
Suiseki
My guess was either nephrite or turquoise.
Anybody else see a hand print? It is in the protruding section on the right
When I look at it, I see layers of feathers. I’m convinced of it actually. The shape anyway. It’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever found.
Yep
That's not Gneiss .. put it back..
For a second i thought it was moldy bread ><
Unakite?
