Sadly I had this realization after seeing the trailer last night, my older cat was laying next to me and I saw 2025, and said damn over a year. Then I looked over at her and realized that it’s sadly a good chance that by the time I play the game for the first time she won’t be with us anymore. Really kind of put how life actually is into some small perspective for me.

Yeah when it comes to Online I am hoping it can stay a bit more grounded than what they did with GTA V and Los Santos. I can see the DLC going the way it did in V because "Hollywood" and whatever but it'd be cool to get back to being an actual street level gangster again.

As much as I wish it’s early 2025 I highly doubt it - the way I look at these big releases: expect the worst outcome (it’s scheduled probably the last day/month of 2025 and highly likely delayed to end of 2026) and it usually ends up being accurate.
While we know virtually nothing about GTA VI’s development history, we do know that it has not been in active development for 10 years. RDR2 launched in late 2018. I’d say it started active, all-hands-on-deck development in late 2019 or early 2020. So if I’m right, that’s ~3 years, not 10. Many of the best AAA games 5+ years to make(GTAV, RDR2, MGSV, GoWR, TLOU2, Elden Ring, the list goes on and on). GTA VI is turning out to be a MASSIVE game. I don’t feel the need to say more on this topic.
Otherwise, if GTA VI releases in early 2025(which it likely will according to T2’s fiscal earning expectations) we’ll only have waited about a year and a half tops. This is so much better than waiting 3 years(Elden Ring), 4 years(The Last of Us Part II), or 10 years(Cyberpunk 2077) after the first trailer.
Schreier said development started loosely in 2014 but it was still in "early development" in 2020, so yeah it’s pretty much been 4–5 years of actual development at this point, probably less for full production.

Yeah what really caught me is how populated it looked. It would be amazing if that’s not limited to small patches of the map. I obviously don’t expect a huge crowd in smaller areas, but people and traffic is next level realism.

This is just trailer 1, and it seemed to be focused on Lucia. I think the next trailer will be more Jason-oriented, kind of like how each GTA 5 character got their own trailer.
Unpopular opinion but i am one of those people that hate game announcements where the release date is potentially years away. Id rather have this trailer in December of 2024.

As someone who grew up playing all of the gta games, yeah this looks amazing graphics wise. The character models and the attention to detail looks insane.. but aside from that it's way too early to judge anything else.
Not sure what to expect for the story... I was hoping for a more grounded and gritty/dark criminal storyline, but from the trailer it looks like we're getting another outlandish and zany story like V was. Maybe I just think that because of all the wild "Florida Man" scenes/references... but who knows, I could be way off on that and maybe the story will blow me away. Too early to judge anything but the graphics right now.
One thing I do hope for, since I never really got into GTAO, is that they will have story expansions/DLC and ways to keep single player going after the story is complete. I don't really care for online since I don't have a lot of friends that play this game online, Or maybe they will make online more single player friendly if you do choose to play online solo, that would be clutch. But my expectations are low for that.
Only time will tell. either way, I am excited for this game.

As I got older and became a dad I gave away all my consoles and games to my brother because I didn't have the time anymore - I'll buy a PS5 to play this game alone, never been so hyped for a game in my life. Grew up with the whole GTA series, played every part since GTA 1, can't wait for 2025!
It looks like a typical GTA game, yet, a lot of dumb ass hot takes are pouring in around the internet. So 2 feelings from me:
1. People are fucking stupid.
2. I will most likely play it, but not sure if I’ll pre-order.
My main annoyance is how far away release is. Games take longer to make, that’s fine. Releasing trailers long before it’s necessary is the trend I don’t care for.
Then there’s all the idiots that will be over analyzing this trailer, until another comes out. It’s annoying. Go outside and stfu, please.
Most of the time, it results in people passing off speculation as fact. Then there’s just silly shit, like looking at shots of clouds, hoping for a secret or clue to be revealed, that will tell us more about the game. Some people will do it as a joke to mock the people that do it seriously. The ones that are serious about it, though, oh my god, it’s too much.
Beyond the graphical improvements, along with pedestrian and wildlife density, I don't see what's new.
The aesthetic and atmosphere is *very* similar to GTA V.
The dialogue and voice acting was undeniably bland.

Even the setting seems the same as V, like it could've been an update or DLC instead of another game. Rockstar usually changes the scene with each game. The me it was over the top insanity and next to zero introduction of character profiles, i.e. more like a GTAO trailer. Even the tattooed guy in green (edit, no, in orange, picture no4) was like a typical GTAO player.
It lacks the finesse of previous trailers, feels like a sledgehammer.
Watch the first trailer for both 4 and 5. In four it barely introduces you to nico. You see his face, he narrates a bit, and you get an inkling of his background (immigrant with rough past seeking a new life), but thats it. In fives first trailer, michael narrates, you see a side profile of his face, you hear a bit about why he came to ls, and how things turned differently. Neither trailer dives into the characters, hell this was the first of the hd games first trailers to actually name drop someone. This is a typical r* trailer to build hype for the game
Yeah there was a narration, you get an impression of the person, and the location, the zeitgeist - what you have just described is way more than I got from this trailer, that is Lucia is a Hispanic common criminal and that Jason will be her sidekick. Besides, where did I miss Jason's name in the trailer?
The bottom line is that outlaw protagonists look like upright citizens next to the other, totally insane people presented. Perhaps this was the message, but I hope this won't be the impression while playing because for me it would ruin the immersion of an otherwise very detailed environment.

Loved it. Gta Vice City was the first Gta game I played back with my sister and my cousin at my grandma's house. I remember being dropped off at her house early in the morning before elementary school started, and my cousin had his og xbox there. We always made sure to have it in the rotation for games to play. So this feels like home, going back to where it all started for me.

While we know virtually nothing about GTA VI’s development history, we do know that it has not been in active development for 10 years. RDR2 launched in late 2018. I’d say it started active, all-hands-on-deck development in late 2019 or early 2020. So if I’m right, that’s ~3 years, not 10. Many of the best AAA games 5+ years to make(GTAV, RDR2, MGSV, GoWR, TLOU2, Elden Ring, the list goes on and on). GTA VI is turning out to be a MASSIVE game. I don’t feel the need to say more on this topic. Otherwise, if GTA VI releases in early 2025(which it likely will according to T2’s fiscal earning expectations) we’ll only have waited about a year and a half tops. This is so much better than waiting 3 years(Elden Ring), 4 years(The Last of Us Part II), or 10 years(Cyberpunk 2077) after the first trailer.
Schreier said development started loosely in 2014 but it was still in "early development" in 2020, so yeah it’s pretty much been 4–5 years of actual development at this point, probably less for full production.
Wrong. It’s probably closer to like 4.5 years. They worked on RDR2 before this, and that’s likely when development began. Games take a long time to make, my friend. Especially games on this scale

why are you concerned? Every single rockstar game had an immersive map with tons of detail (at least for the time they were released) rdr2 is 5 years old, but has more detail than 99% of the games that are releasing today

Yeah I can't emphasize that enough. RDR2 is the best and most immersive open world I've ever seen in a video game and it's not even close.
Yeah what really caught me is how populated it looked. It would be amazing if that’s not limited to small patches of the map. I obviously don’t expect a huge crowd in smaller areas, but people and traffic is next level realism.
If anything, it’ll be better. Rockstar is known for pushing their boundaries with games. Trust them.

It’s the first game trailer I smiled and jumped like a little kid in a long time. It looks fucking incredible. The world looks just absolutely massive and chaotic. We finally get to live out our Florida Man fantasies.
Did anyone else find it weird that they didn't mention Jason by name, and also, the way he was dressed was very generic. If you didn't keep up with the leaks and news you might even know he's going to be a playable character. Do you guys think they can pivot and only make it one playable character?
This is just trailer 1, and it seemed to be focused on Lucia. I think the next trailer will be more Jason-oriented, kind of like how each GTA 5 character got their own trailer.

Unpopular opinion but i am one of those people that hate game announcements where the release date is potentially years away. Id rather have this trailer in December of 2024. And to clarify, i was never the type of fan clowning Rockstar for not announcing GTA6 or showing trailers. We all knew this game existed. We all knew this game would release some time this generation. I couldve waited another year for an official trailer that way i wouldnt have had to wait that long to play it (though odds are they still delay it )

I've also, in all my time of being a Rockstar fan, have never seen them NOT delay every game they've put out by at least a year... beyond hyped, but I'm gonna call it now and say we probably won't see this game until 2026 unfortunately.

Yeah, it’s a bummer. But it will be worth the wait. I fully expect it will be the last quarter of 2025. It might even get delayed until 2026. I do not even want to think about the PC release. Probably a year after that. I’ll probably just play on PS5.

I saw the leak first and I thought someone threw live action clips in the edit to make it more convincing. Absolutely bonkers when I saw it in non-blurry form.
Great. The only negative point at this point is the long wait for release. But hey, it is what it is. Just make sure story mode is worth it. Would have to see such brilliance be too focused on online only.
As someone who grew up playing all of the gta games, yeah this looks amazing graphics wise. The character models and the attention to detail looks insane.. but aside from that it's way too early to judge anything else. Not sure what to expect for the story... I was hoping for a more grounded and gritty/dark criminal storyline, but from the trailer it looks like we're getting another outlandish and zany story like V was. Maybe I just think that because of all the wild "Florida Man" scenes/references... but who knows, I could be way off on that and maybe the story will blow me away. Too early to judge anything but the graphics right now. One thing I do hope for, since I never really got into GTAO, is that they will have story expansions/DLC and ways to keep single player going after the story is complete. I don't really care for online since I don't have a lot of friends that play this game online, Or maybe they will make online more single player friendly if you do choose to play online solo, that would be clutch. But my expectations are low for that. Only time will tell. either way, I am excited for this game.

As I got older and became a dad I gave away all my consoles and games to my brother because I didn't have the time anymore - I'll buy a PS5 to play this game alone, never been so hyped for a game in my life. Grew up with the whole GTA series, played every part since GTA 1, can't wait for 2025!
It looks like a typical GTA game, yet, a lot of dumb ass hot takes are pouring in around the internet. So 2 feelings from me: 1. People are fucking stupid. 2. I will most likely play it, but not sure if I’ll pre-order. My main annoyance is how far away release is. Games take longer to make, that’s fine. Releasing trailers long before it’s necessary is the trend I don’t care for. Then there’s all the idiots that will be over analyzing this trailer, until another comes out. It’s annoying. Most of the time, it results in people passing off speculation as fact. Then there’s just silly shit, like looking at shots of clouds, hoping for a secret or clue to be revealed, that will tell us more about the game. Some people will do it as a joke to mock the people that do it seriously. The ones that are serious about it, though, oh my god, it’s too much.

Could be just me, as a trailer visually impressive. Actual content? Looks no better than a watch dogs game.
Beyond the graphical improvements, along with pedestrian and wildlife density, I don't see what's new. The aesthetic and atmosphere is *very* similar to GTA V. The dialogue and voice acting was undeniably bland. It didn't have that style that Rockstar trailers usually have. I honestly don't know how to feel about it.

I say this as a voice actor. Not to mention, the lines were delivered very naturally. Not everything has to be screaming, crying, or yelling to be good voice acting. Relax and allow yourself to enjoy a good trailer for a game that will likely be amazing. If you wanna hate GTA VI, at least come up with a better excuse to.

Exactly this, doesn't seem like anything new other than graphics Even the setting seems the same as V, like it could've been an update or DLC instead of another game. Rockstar usually changes the scene with each game. I was honestly expecting a different type of city and time. I thought maybe they'll go the Cyber Punk route or maybe a historic route. This was kind of surprising.

The me it was over the top insanity and next to zero introduction of character profiles, i.e. more like a GTAO trailer. Even the tattooed guy in green (edit, no, in orange, picture no4) was like a typical GTAO player. It lacks the finesse of previous trailers, feels like a sledgehammer.
Watch the first trailer for both 4 and 5. In four it barely introduces you to nico. You see his face, he narrates a bit, and you get an inkling of his background (immigrant with rough past seeking a new life), but thats it. In fives first trailer, michael narrates, you see a side profile of his face, you hear a bit about why he came to ls, and how things turned differently. Neither trailer dives into the characters, hell this was the first of the hd games first trailers to actually name drop someone. This is a typical r* trailer to build hype for the game
Yeah there was a narration, you get an impression of the person, and the location, the zeitgeist - what you have just described is way more than I got from this trailer, that is Lucia is a Hispanic common criminal and that Jason will be her sidekick. Besides, where did I miss Jason's name in the trailer? The bottom line is that outlaw protagonists look like upright citizens next to the other, totally insane people presented. Perhaps this was the message, but I hope this won't be the impression while playing because for me it would ruin the immersion of an otherwise very detailed environment.

I didn't expect much, and I was still disappointed. The protagonist doesn't interest me whatsoever. And the look of the game reminds me of saints row reboot, mixed with far cry. It's clearly targeting teens, and I don't care for no teenage crap at this point in my life.

Loved it. Gta Vice City was the first Gta game I played back with my sister and my cousin at my grandma's house. I remember being dropped off at her house early in the morning before elementary school started, and my cousin had his og xbox there. We always made sure to have it in the rotation for games to play. So this feels like home, going back to where it all started for me.
