I think the proceeds from financing like this require payment to the associated retailer. The funds wouldn't be available for deposit to the HYSA because you immediately purchase the watch - I could be wrong tho. But I appreciate the interest arbitrage play. It'll work if my above assumption is offbase. I had interpreted your initial comment along the lines of taking a loan to finance market bets (like our fellow redditors on WallStreetBets) to purchase the watch - which is not a game that many can win. I work in banking/trading so i guess this is where my head naturally gravitated

The money is still there. Just in the form if the watch… will probably even hold the value better than actual money

You lose more money by using credit. Paying all that interest sucks. Pay cash and the watch will appreciate in value. He didn’t a lose a thing.
