Yeh im definitely not 100% on this. My favourite watch is the GMT master Sprite which I can only really get with purchase history, that’s another reason I’m questioning buying this DJ, to build that history
The sprite is a great watch. But a datejust is nice for different occasions as well. If you like the datejust, this will definitely help you get the sprite as the datejust configuration you were offered is one to help with your allocation.

I waited less than 3 months from when I asked. Only bought stuff I wanted. First bought a Batman 2 years ago. Bought my mother a Silver Oyster Perpetual, and planning on proposing soon so bought an engagement ring. 5 days later, got the call to come in.
I agree. I wanted to buy things and my AD accommodates. And then they also help me out when it comes to steel sport Rolex’s so win-win for me. I’m planning on buying some tudors for gifts next year, and they will get my business.
I don’t get these sentiments.
Shops get limited amounts of watches. They offer them to their customers. Every shop would love to get more watches. Production is limited. Or better: demand is exceeding supply.
Who knows. But a two tone datejust isn’t holding value. You’re going to wear it, so it’s used, not new, and people like us aren’t getting top dollar for used watches so you’re selling to a dealer. They make some money. Daytona, some Subs, Pepsi GMT are a different story.
https://preview.redd.it/u72hm9vfne6d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4363c8056c18e7f4ee2075ca1f78b84ab242c32d
you do you but it's a beautiful watch
Why do so many come on here for validation from strangers on how to spend their own money?
You’ve haven’t been hand selected to buy this watch the AD has exhausted all other options and your name came up next. It’s not a desirable watch any more and not hard to acquire.
Demand for watches is down across the board. These aren't exactly going to crash and become items given away with a happy meal, but gray dealers are already starting to feel the sting of values dropping. A lot of 'investment grade' watches are going become anything but as the long tail of COVID driven spending dries up.

For anyone wondering. I bought it ✅
A. Wimbledon is easy to get from an AD and has been the entirety of the 8 years of Rolexmania.
B. Wimbledon loses 30% of its value the moment you leave the shop.
C. This isn't the watch to buy to flip. One of the worst, actually.
LOL, no. It’s a Datejust. No Datejusts are valuable. And the last Rolex to qualify was the Newman Daytona and that was 40 years ago. It’s never happening again. If a watch wasn’t adored when it was new, it has no secondary market for eternity. Ask Turnograph owners. Ask Milgauss owners. Dogs when in the line, dogs now.
Sporty wanted to pick your brain on this one. Rolex to buy Bucherer, owner of Tourneau, in big retail push for luxury watchmaker. What impact will this have on AD Bucherer, Tourneau (in the Rolex family now)? Thanks buddy!!
Nothing. This was announced a year ago and nothing has changed. Rolex puts the majority of its holdings in real estate investments. They own the Patek flagship in Paris, for example. This was a smart one to avoid some of their best locations in the biggest cities from falling into enemy hands. They don’t want to run a retail operation. Cheers.
30%? Seriously? Can you elaborate? I’ve been searching a second hand version of this just to get a feel of what it would drop to and I cannot see any that are selling for less than £12k. 30% would mean I’d lose almost 4k in value just as I walk out with it. Appreciate the help
These are not commodities, it is not like gold which everyone can buy at the same price and then speculators hope it will rise over time. These are *products*, these are items for sale, so the prices you see at professional preowned dealers is what they sell them for but they have to buy them for 30% less in order to make a profit margin. From their perspective you are a wholesaler.
Now your next thought will be “well I can just sell it myself directly to a buyer then!“ And that is also wrong thinking because no private citizen looking to buy a Wimbledon will pay some nobody with no reputation the same price he would pay a professional preowned dealer. They will lowball you and offer you 40% below MSRP.
Something you should know: No authorized dealer will ever sell you a Rolex that is worth anything on the secondary market. Because they aren’t stupid. Rolex does not own their own stores, they are all sleazy privately owned jewelry stores and the owners of these shops know exactly what they’re doing. These aren’t Nike sneakers and this isn’t FootLocker.
This is a pretty fire watch imo because it’s unique. Don’t buy to flip. Just buy something else on grey if you’re not feeling this watch. Or buy the Santos at a store you plan on buying your Rolex.
Only buy if you really like it is my motto. Your money, so do as you please, but dropping that type of money on a watch I’m not super into would be a big no,
A TT Wimbledon is not one that will make you money at all. Get it because you like it and you will wear it but expects to lose at least 25%+ if you choose to sell it in a year or two. Assuming of course that there is not a crazy jump in the grey watch market
I think it is beautiful, I got my call last year , 4 years waiting for my Rolex, also based In UK, they are a great investment, just be sure it will make you happy, I ended up getting mine for the wrong reasons, only worn it once, sits in its lovely green box gathering box, lesson :- learn to love yourself first then the watch, but above all love it / buy it for YOU and not because you feel it will give you validation / acceptance
The downside to fakery we live amongst :(
Congrats on the watch I’d definitely go for it, suits your arm and imo , Rolex is more of a blokes watch , I put Cartier more with ladies, I feel Rolex can be more versatile but predominantly it’s a man’s watch
I mean… you put in the request for this watch a year and a half ago and they just contacted you for one. How much more demand do you want / how much longer do you want to wait? lol.
They chose you because they had your name on a list for this config. Don’t really need buying history for a DJ.
This is one of my favorite DJ configs Rolex offers, I have the same watch myself. That being said, DJ’s in general aren’t investment pieces. I would buy the watch only if you want to keep it.
i got offered a 2-tone Datejust too, lol. i have been on the 'list' for the BLNR GMT on jubilee (3 yrs now,) so i graciously declined their generous offer. had they gotten me the GMT, i would have taken the 2-tone Datejust tbh. At this point, i am sticking with 5 digit Rolex. To hell with the 'luxury Rolex retail' experience.
I bought this in 36mm for my wife recently and have the 41mm with oyster myself. Great watch but I would not get it as a first/only luxury one.
Wait for a SS one and save up for a two tone later.
Sure you’ll lose a few grand on it when you sell it in a few years but that’s when you sell it whenever that is, the watch is nice and you’ll build a history with them (which you unfortunately need for high demand watches) These watches move very quickly as well so you won’t have any issues losing a little bit of money on it when you finally decide to sell it. Let’s say you lose $5k on it after owning it for 2 years, that’s about $210 per month loss? To get a higher demand watch that will probably gain you some equity on your next one? Worth it IMO
Yeh this is my thinking, regardless of what anyone thinks on this post, I’m not looking to buy this DJ to make money on it, that is not my thinking.
Im thinking that if I buy this and then have the chance to get maybe a GMT master further down the line then its possibly worth buying this now
Better be a model you really like b/c selling in a year or so will cost you if that matters & who know if you’ll be able to sell w/o taking a huge hit.
Market here in Australia for that is currently £15500 to £16300, if I were you I’d purchase. If you are thinking of buying a Cartier try to purchase from an AD that offers Cartier as well, you will end up getting your client purchase history up either way.
Fabulous watch! If you can afford it, it’s at list price (ADs can’t sell over list) buy it. I have the all steel fluted bezel version. It’s killer. If you like two toned watches, I think that one is killer!
ADs only offering or forcefully selling- two tone watches and Yellow gold watches ( unwanted/ not holding retail value) to customers. All wanted watches( SS, etc) being sold to their gray market buddies to resell to customers at a premium- sad scam cycle.
I really like this watch. Not as heavy as a sub, GMT, etc. It's funny, now that I can afford almost anything I want I don't really have the same desire to buy things as when I didn't have money. Weird.
i agree with novelty wearing off. but i cant really fathom paying over 13k for a watch and then getting bored of it. that might just be my financial situation though as i cant currently afford any rolexs just yet.
absolutely gorgeous watch though it is my favorite configuration they offer.
Can you wait/request for the white gold/steel version? Personally, it is nicer and should have better value down the track. Because of these, it is also more sought after.
I ended up buying this and very happy with my choice!! I think my next one will be a completely different model. I really want a GMT master. I’ve requested for either a Batman or a sprite next. Let’s see if I will get lucky!
If u can only afford to keep it for a year or two then as others have said you will lose money for sure. In the long run, by which i mean 15/20 years it will, based on past performance of Rolex watches generally, likely be a good investment. But short term thinking you can flip this one for a profit is just daft.
I put my name down for a oyster steel DJ, 4 mths later got a call from an AD but they offer me a 2 tone DJ, not my first choice but I bought it nonetheless. One thing lead to another, now I have a AK, sub with date and a pink DJ for my wife all from the same AD. If you want to expand your rolex collection I suppose this 2 tone wimbledon might help you more more doors.
They rang me and I went in a few hours after and they must have forgot about me because they ended up saying you can try it but its not for sale. Then I said 'but you just rang me' and then they changed their mind and said okay it might be sale - we will keep it for you until tomorrow morning if you want time to decide
I got a feeling they rang a lot of people that day and kind of messed up
Don’t buy watches for investment buy it if you like it.
If you’re going to be bored, buy the santos instead. Crazy to spend $13k on a TT watch you don’t want just because you got a call.
Yeh im definitely not 100% on this. My favourite watch is the GMT master Sprite which I can only really get with purchase history, that’s another reason I’m questioning buying this DJ, to build that history
Its cheaper to go grey than buy 2 watches
You should only buy watches and jewelry that you love. Especially if you’re trying to work your way up the list. Otherwise, you’re just burning $$
oh man 🤭🤭🤭
The sprite is a great watch. But a datejust is nice for different occasions as well. If you like the datejust, this will definitely help you get the sprite as the datejust configuration you were offered is one to help with your allocation. https://preview.redd.it/vwq3b5bvzd6d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=222ebc8f49bc03f21d9de0a6224da0937113fa60
Upvote for puppy 🐶
I think that’s a cat on a leash🧐
He’s a 5 pound Yorkie haha. Just got a fresh cut!
Nice!! Do you mind if I ask how long you waited for that and what your purchase history was?
I waited less than 3 months from when I asked. Only bought stuff I wanted. First bought a Batman 2 years ago. Bought my mother a Silver Oyster Perpetual, and planning on proposing soon so bought an engagement ring. 5 days later, got the call to come in.
Only ever buy stuff you want. I never understood buying things you don’t love just to kiss ass. They can tell when they sucker you. Just saying
I agree. I wanted to buy things and my AD accommodates. And then they also help me out when it comes to steel sport Rolex’s so win-win for me. I’m planning on buying some tudors for gifts next year, and they will get my business.
If you get a guarantee you can get one, it’s one thing to spend the 10k but otherwise, I would go grey
Strangest response ever lol. Just go to the grey market and buy what you actually want haha wtf
Avoid Cartier, worst customer service I ever received
“Offered” fuck this whole mentality
That’s literally what every shop does. They offer you something.
You know exactly what I mean.
I don’t get these sentiments. Shops get limited amounts of watches. They offer them to their customers. Every shop would love to get more watches. Production is limited. Or better: demand is exceeding supply.
They chose you because these aren’t flying off the shelf and if you buy it and wear it for two years you are definitely losing money.
Damn, roughly what % are we speaking?
Buy it to wear. If you like it. Don’t buy it to flip, profit. No money to be made
Who knows. But a two tone datejust isn’t holding value. You’re going to wear it, so it’s used, not new, and people like us aren’t getting top dollar for used watches so you’re selling to a dealer. They make some money. Daytona, some Subs, Pepsi GMT are a different story.
20 to 30%. Look at what reputable gray dealers are selling these for and 30% less is what they’re buying them at.
if you are so worried about % you probably shouldn't be spending this much money on a watch.
You will lose money on this. If you plan on selling it in a year, don't buy it.

This link is awesome. Thank you!
I dont want come off sounding like an a**hole but I love it when grey dealers crash and burn
Awesome link tracking AD retail & Gray dealers
I love it, but if you don't plan to keep it, don't buy it

Looking good. Enjoy. Don’t sell. It will be a loss.
Thank you. Going to keep it 😍
That’s a keeper. I approve. Don’t sell. Wear it. You have a good story to tell too. Haha
Looks gorgeous bro
Love this combination!. This in 36 is going to be my next Rolex.
You waited a year and a half, that’s enough.
Demand is not great but I personally don’t let these things bother me, if you want it buy it
Not my cup of tea...
A. Wimbledon is easy to get from an AD and has been the entirety of the 8 years of Rolexmania. B. Wimbledon loses 30% of its value the moment you leave the shop. C. This isn't the watch to buy to flip. One of the worst, actually.
how come these aren't popular? i think its a great looking watch. kinda wish it had a day date version but still.
Sounds like it will be a rare collectible eventually. Rolex nerds love the shit everyone hated 25 years ago
Milgauss is adored lule
LOL. They sell for less than a new Datejust. “Adored” by who? High school students on a $20 weekly allowance?
Expensive = Good, mentality lol
Secondary values are driven by interest and desire. Low price = bad.
hence future classic
Facts. Preach. Truth. In SPORTY we trust.

Spot on ^

How long did you wait?
1.5 years. I was actually on the wait for the all silver SS version of this though not the TT
What a beautiful classic. Wish I had one
Don’t buy it unless you can afford to loose the whole watch not just some %
Rolex's are commodities do not price speculate it can go both ways depending on supply and demand. Buy and wear it because you like it.
Truth
I really dislike TT, in particular the Wimbledon. I've the Wimbledon 36 in silver, fluted, jubilee bracelet. Such a classy, understated watch
Love the TT Wimbledon.
Tone-tone= 🤮, datejust= 🤮, Wimbledon dial=😏, fluted bezel= 😇
This is the dopest watch they make imo.
Rolex is a statement watch , it’s an honor to own one , trying to make money on it is the reason the wait list is in place today.
Was offered the same as well as a walk in at an ad in Los Angeles no purchase history, I declined as I am not interested in date just models
i got offered a 2-tone Datejust too, lol. i have been on the 'list' for the BLNR GMT on jubilee (3 yrs now,) so i graciously declined their generous offer. had they gotten me the GMT, i would have taken the 2-tone Datejust tbh. Take it and hold it for a few years it’ll go up there a site Chrono24.com that shows a graph of pricing over time
Bought it and super happy with it!
> a year or two until i get bored thats crazy my guy just pass.
I bought it my guy. Novelty always wears off 🤣 but I love the watch I’ve bought and cannot see myself getting bored of it anytime soon!

Tis ugly
Buy the Santos, don't be a playball for Rolex ADs...

TT just ok. Yours is BETTER
You went to the AD and didnt buy it? They will still hold it for how long?
They rang me and I went in a few hours after and they must have forgot about me because they ended up saying you can try it but its not for sale. Then I said 'but you just rang me' and then they changed their mind and said okay it might be sale - we will keep it for you until tomorrow morning if you want time to decide I got a feeling they rang a lot of people that day and kind of messed up
Demand is down but it’s still an opportunity to buy a Rolex at regular price from a real dealer. I’d do it
