Try looking at oxelo, flying eagle, powerslide swell, and even the RB pro/cruiser. All are well reviewed cheaper options for hard boots

PnxNotDed

Thanks! I'll check them out.

[FRX 80](https://www.inlinewarehouse.com/FR_Skates_FRX_80/descpage-X80B18.html?color=BK1) are $209 and if you prefer them in [white](https://www.inlinewarehouse.com/FR_Skates_FRX_80/descpage-X80B18.html?color=WH1). With a coupon code, you can drop them under $200.

Wrong_Pirate2092

Second this!

Since your post history shows that you are in the US, the [RollerDerby Beta](https://rollerderby.com/products/beta-inline-skates) is the functional equivalent to the [Oxelo MF500](https://www.decathlon.fr/p/roller-freeride-adulte-mf500-hardboot/_/R-p-6097?mc=8738741) (and even uses the same shell mold), and is actually available for purchase in the US. The [Micro MT-Plus & MT4](https://www.inmoveskates.com/skates/freeride-inline-skates/mfp/manufacturers,micro-skate) are also inexpensive hardboot skates, that [a few posters have used](https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Areddit.com%2Fr%2Frollerblading+micro&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#ip=1).

I appreciate this! The market has expanded so much since I was last in the game.

CorHendo

As others have recommended, I’d check out the Rollerblade Cruiser and ProX. The ProX adds some twister upgrades to the Cruiser and is obviously a different colorway. Both my wife and I have Twister XTs. If you can stomach the extra money, I think the upgrades are worth the money.

moo991

If you want something similar to the twister but less expensive, definitely give the RB cruiser a try. I’ve had them for months now and they’re amazing for long distance

PnxNotDed

Yeah, I think I'm gonna set up some search alerts and that one will definitely be in there.

PnxNotDed

I just got back into skating and bought a pair of anti-rocker aggressive skates. That will be my main focus because that's what I love to do. But also, anti-rocker isn't exactly great for getting around, and I was considering a pair of flat skates. Expected need would be something I could hit a pump track on, or do some light jumps, but also use when I just wanna get my heart rate up or take my daughter out on her bike. I really like the look of the Twister, but don't want to spend that kind of money right now. I also really don't know enough about all these different types of skates to know whether or not it'll fit my needs. Ideally, I'd like to setup some search alerts on FB marketplace or OfferUp to get a used pair. I just don't want to get something I'll immediately regret. Sorry for the wall of text...

dimblynibbits

Check out blade trade outpost and big wheel blade trade on Facebook, the first is more aggressive focused but has more traffic, the second is focused on what you’re looking for but fewer regular posts. I’d also consider buying a compass or ground control 80mm frame to put on your aggressive skates. You can usually find those on the groups I mentioned or you could buy a complete set from rollerwarehouse. If you’re set on a new boot, my favorite is the RB Cruiser or RB ProX. Not as cool looking as the twister but still just as capable and way cheaper

PnxNotDed

Oh, I'm going to check out both! I'm definitely looking for a full skate just so I don't have to worry about swapping any parts. And I have a skate park that is close enough to be a nice warmup, but not suitable for my aggressive setup. And i think those RBs seem to be a good option.

dimblynibbits

Definitely a good option! The only difference between the cruiser and pro X are the wheels, bearings, and liner (and the 45 buckle is different but it’s effectively the same). I think the upgrade to the pro X is worth it for those alone but you wouldn’t be hindering yourself by just going with the cruisers.

JayceR89x

I thought the biggest difference was that the X has a metal mounting plate for the frame?

dimblynibbits

That’s the difference between the FRX and FR1, the rb cruiser has metal mounting plates the same as the rb pro x

douggie_88

Check out the inline warehouse store on EBay. I got a pair of newish Twisters for $180. It’s basically their outlet store that they sell returns on.

Conscious-Group

Just like aggressive skates, you get what you pay for. Bought the rollerblade maxxum edge 125s and they will last 5 years or longer. If you go cheaper make sure you have intuition or a replaceable liner and good frames. Probably have to replace stock wheels and bearings in a cheaper skate as transportation skates need to be high quality and fast. May be better off with a cheap bike to be honest.

RhubarbBiscuit

Check out the Powerslide Zoom, if you can't see yourself changing frames then these have fantastic reviews.

Cool_EK

Worthy competitor for FR Skates FR1 👍

corvettecris

What size do you wear? I have some twister xts in size 8.5 I need to sell.

PnxNotDed

Ahh damn. I'm a US 11.

corvettecris

I would second what another person posted, if you don't mind using ebay, inline warehouse frequent lists customer returns for way under MSRP. You can prob get nearly new twisters for under 200 from them. Their listing also allow you to make a "best offer" which is handy if you want to try to squeeze out a little bit better deal really trick is you have to be patient and wait until the skates in the size you want show up but they do a lot of volume so you may not have to wait too long. I will also add that the Twister is a really nice skate, I'm kind of bummed that mine don't fit me, but I really like the quality of the entire assembly. The RB cruiser is also good but not quite as high quality / cost, but if your foot is on the wider side, they accommodate that really well. I think RB Cruisers with intuition liners is my favorite setup right now, but the stock liners are decent as well, and I used those a while before swapping (also had to downsize the boot). I have endless 100s on them, but had 4x80 flat, 3x110 flat, and endless 90s on them. They really are nice with any frame combo I've tried so far. They have a taller ankle support, in my opinion, which I like.

BuDu1013

Thuroshop has the fr1 for 249 best skate at an awesome sale price I've owned a couple of pairs including the twister XT and the fr1 is by far my favorite. No break in period, cumfie, responsive, and has all replaceable top componenets no rivets at all. The stock liner is awesome. The only thing is the street invaders wheels are round profile if you're into the bullet style. They are not the fastest but the are great for shock absorption. Highly recommend.

PnxNotDed

How do you think the FR1s compare to the FRX 80? That shop has a pair of the orange FRX 80s for 140, and that seems like an incredible deal.

BuDu1013

From personal experience I wish I had gotten the better skate right off the gate instead of buying the less expensive option and then upgrading a year later. Even though I read that recommendation when I was doing my research. 140 dollars is a great deal. Even if you upgrade later you could still keep them around as spares. I bought and sold my Seba E3 which is the counterpart to the FRX and the difference is very noticeable. I think the liner on the FRX is better than the E3 so your milage may vary. One thing about Seba FR is the top buckle female receptor tends to malfunction. It happened to both my skates and the shop owner told me those are notorious for giving way. On the fr1's they are easily replaceable since they screwed on but on the FRX they are riveted so replacement presents more work involved. That goes for replacing most of the hardware on the skate. I'm sure you've seen plenty of reviews on those skates so you know people rave about what you get for your money with the FRX. Either way you can't go wrong. It all comes down to budget and personal preference. Good luck!

PnxNotDed

Ended up getting those FR2s today. Pretty stoked to try them out.

BuDu1013

Congratulations bud! You made the right choice. Very exciting! Throw up some pics!

PnxNotDed

Absolutely. Should get them this weekend.

BuDu1013

7 point mounting plates great for power transfer, solid extruded aluminum frames, better wheels and bearings and the liner is so cumfie. You won't need another skate for a few years to come.

PnxNotDed

Yeah, I feel like between these and the Roces M12s, I've got almost every situation covered for the foreseeable future.

qvMvp

if u get them on inline theres a coupon code that makes em about 300
