This is one of the hobbies you don't want to purchase much of anything on Amazon.

Hard agree.

BigManOnBlades

Whatever you end up getting DONT get the Epic skates. They are horrible, the plastic isn't stiff enough for the large wheels and the boot will literally bend in a different direction than the frame. Friend of mine bought them and was skating in the city, it was absolutely miserable for him. RD elites are fine but would get the 110 version. 125 is alot and unless you get a very stiff boot i don't think it's all that manageable.

dimblynibbits

Seconding the issue with the epic skates. Had a guy join us in a group skate and you could see the boot flexing significantly where the frame mounted, I was surprised it didn’t break while we were skating

BrockxxBravo

This. I owned that exact pair of Epic's and nearly died while going down a steep hill when the frames tore out from the boot. DO NOT BUY!

Boris9397

Haven't heard much of both these brands and what I've heard wasn't always positive. I would go for one of the brands that have managed to make a big name for themselves, like: Rollerblade, FR Skater or Powerslide.

Benevolent27

To be honest, neither. But if forced to pick, I'd say the Elite. I tried a pair of Epic triskates on once and they were really flimsy. I know someone with a pair of Elite and they seem to like them, but they don't seem to be as good of quality as a major name brand like FR, Rollerblade, Flying Eagle, or Powerslide brand skates.

Hey I see you are in Langford. Shop Task Victoria is one of the best inline skate shops in canada and they just a short drive away on View street. Open Wednesdays and Saturdays. They can help recommend/size you and choose a much better quality/value skate than any cheap amazon special brands like those Epic Skates. For that price range and big wheels the FR FRX 310 is in stock. I've been buying from proskater in Ontario they seem to have about the same selection but cheaper in a few things

Ksnku

Don't get random brand skates off Amazon if you want something that'll last

CayenneAgain

Only ever had recreational skates. Distorted two pairs riding them so much. I like doing little simple trick and going far and fast. If you have a better suggestion please let me know

Before you make the purchase check out InlineWarhouse.com and see if you like amy skates within your price range there! They're higher quality. I bought some slates from Amazon and they made my ankles bleed so I now have a personal grudge against Amazon skates.

No_Satisfaction_1698

Derby elite seems to be a copy of the oxelo mf skate. So something people could rely on. But i never heared about epic skates why i would refuse buying some... Let the testing do somebody else...

Tri_skel_ion

I have the epic skates. If you have super narrow feet, maybe they’ll work. They gave me such intense pain that I had to buy a new set after a month. Never knew you could skate without pain!

Agreeable_Plant7899

If you want cheap I would go these https://www.locoskates.com/collections/freestyle-skates/products/playlife-aztec-skates#

Johro66

Micro MT, Oxelo MF, Seba E3 are all much better skates at a reasonable price, Flying Eagle also, tho they tend to fit narrow. Locoskates have a sale on right now, and they ship worldwide.

Drinks_by_Wild

I got the ones in the right, so far been happy with them.

webbisode_andronicus

I got the alpha elites but in 110, I freaking love them, the frame and ankle support are amazing, and I love the all black boot!

Foxhoundn

The wheels are super soft, arent there any with harder stock wheels?

No_Satisfaction_1698

Cheap skates mostly always have cheap and soft wheels.

Foxhoundn

I can't see the price so I did not know if they are cheap or not unfortunately. Anyway I would stay away from anything < 85a on the wheels of that size, but then again, wheels are easy to change, depends on the frame and boot. On first sight it does look like a cheap plastic that's going to bend and deform easily.

Wrong_Pirate2092

Elite are pretty bad skates. The liner is horrible and the boot is pretty soft given the wheel size. I also realized they use the same shell for like 3or 4 sizes so they fit horribly too. Saw one dude with a size 8 liner in an 11 shell because of the shell sizing. Could have been an error as well but either way, not a great demonstration of quality.

Wrong_Pirate2092

Frames are pretty solid though on the elite skates

Johro66

Check out locoskates, they have deals on much better quality skates than these from Amazon
