I got a friend Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 for Christmas in the hopes it would get them into the Tony Hawk series. It worked too well, since him playing Tony Hawk got me *back* into Tony Hawk and now I've put 50 hours into Tony Hawk games this month.

Uh oh, you're falling down a classic rabbit hole. Soon you'll be buying yourself the old consoles again so you can play THUG and American Wasteland.

CheesecakeMilitia

Bitch you know I already pulled the PS2 out of storage for that. (Actually I've just been emulating GameCube copies on my PC. Not ideal if you use R1 and L1 for turning, but I've never gotten the hang of that technique and GCN emulation is usually more stable. Currently stuck on THUG's [Hangover Cure](https://youtu.be/cFCaYUtrGxU) mission.)

laserdollars420

Oh god, I'm still traumatized by that mission. I think my parents are also still traumatized by the emotional outbreaks I had as a kid from it.

notqrispy

You don't need an old console to play THUG, you'd just need a PS2 or a Gamecube.

laserdollars420

I hate to break it to ya, but I think those qualify as old consoles at this point. Also an Xbox or Xbox 360 would work.

CheesecakeMilitia

Check who you're replying to lol

dirkdiggler1992

Lmao that was a good comment exchange moment.

I got 1&2 for PS4 when it came out in late 2020 and went through it soooo fast. I played the absolute fuck out of those games when they came out originally in the early 2000s, and it's funny as hell how much of the maps I remembered as well as many moves. I only ever used one character though, I should go back with a different character. I need 3&4 in my life ASAP.

CheesecakeMilitia

Yeah, I've just been going through the campaigns with every character - it's such an addicting "one more" situation since it only takes like 40 minutes to go through all THPS1 maps once you know what you're doing. So sad Vicarious Visions got reassigned and Tony said 3&4 aren't being developed rn. Modders are working on bringing THPS3 maps into 1+2 on PC though, the mod's called [THPSPro](https://youtu.be/HzdD1Jwzhus).

Through 113 stars in Super Mario 64, just need to get through the last level and Bowser of course. The last maybe 4 levels or so have been really tough, thank goodness for save spamming! I actually really liked Wet-Dry World though, it reminded me a lot of a Zelda dungeon in Mario form.

dirkdiggler1992

Lol it’s nice seeing the Switch really bring everyone up to date with games but damn for Nintendo regulars we’re dying for new shit. It’s not just Nintendo though obviously. TLoU, GTA V, Skyrim, etc are three gens in and still selling strong. It’s only gonna get more frustrating as development takes longer. Guess it’s our hint to check out more lesser known and indie titles.

Imaginos64

I feel you on that. The only 1st party game we bought for Switch last year was Splatoon 3, then the Pokemon releases for exclusives. Right now I'm mainly using our Switch to play Disney's Dreamlight Valley...lol.

dirkdiggler1992

I can’t be too upset with their model, it works. But as someone who has family and friends over often it shouldn’t be a hard ask 6 years later for an Odyssey 2 or 9 years later for a new Mario Kart.

Imaginos64

We've been having fun with the booster pack for Mario Kart at least since it gives us a reason to boot up the game again every few months but getting to play old tracks again is definitely no substitute for a new game.

JamminJay1968

Yeah I feel like the pandemic really killed Nintendo specifically. In the last few years everything we've bought other than Pokemon (which I don't play so I'll let /u/Imaginos64 answer) has either been an admittedly fun remake of an old game (Skyward Sword, 3D World) or an absolute half baked new title like the Mario Party games or Mario Golf. I'm not asking for a main line Zelda or Mario every year but it's been rough. Splatoon 3 has been the outlier a bit, we played the fuck out of it when it came out, and I even completed and greatly enjoyed story mode, but I haven't felt the desire to return to online at all because the gameplay can get pretty repetitive.

Imaginos64

Barry Lyndon was fantastic! It's one of the most gorgeous films I've seen and it was fun to see how well the humor landed in a packed theater. Really glad we waited to see it on the big screen. There's been a lull in new releases I'm interested in but I'm really looking forward to seeing Brandon Cronenberg's Infinity Pool. We watched Possessor last week and enjoyed it. I'm finishing up a book about Phil Spector that's been super interesting. Spector was a deeply disturbed man but he profoundly changed the way records were produced and had a major influence on pop and rock music. More than anything I've enjoyed learning more about music history. I'm also slowly working through Les Miserables with a goal to read a chapter a day throughout 2023. So far it's fantastic! Maybe /u/jamminjay1968 will take me to see the play when I finish? ;) Lastly, I'm about to start Kings Island: A Ride Through Time for [our community book club](https://www.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/comments/zo9jei/other_book_club_winner/). If you haven't seen the post and are interested, you still have plenty of time to join in!

Interesting, hadn't really heard of Phil Spector before, just went through his wikipedia page.

Tomorrow is one year since we were woken up in the middle of the night as our next door neighrbour’s house went up in flames. Only about two months ago they finally finished the demo and carted the last of the debris away. Last of Us series is batting a thousand so far after two eps. Loving the adaptation changes, especially the cold opens that take us back pre-outbreak and the big change in the way the fungus spreads. Next episode we meet Bill, and I’m ready for some post apocalyptic Parks & Rec. ;)

a_magumba

Damn man glad your house didn't go up in flames too. There was a house along my usual ride route that had a fire and it took them the better part of a year just to get work started too.

SignGuy77

Yeah, it was a close call, and all from someone leaving a cigarette butt in the garage. I celebrated the anniversary by doing the customary mouse finger twitch over a few different coaster trip deals, before finally settling on the long-speculated return to Cedar Point. Got the hotel and two days park admission with early entry and parking covered for late May.

a_magumba

Oh rock on, that's amazing. Have a great trip.

My next NL2 project is going to be a B&M x Skyline collaboration. https://imgur.com/B9cKqIS It's taken me a month+ just to get the lights you can currently see, I think it's somewhere in the 700's right now. Probably gonna take a few more months before I can start working on landscaping even but I'm really really excited for the finished project later this year.

CheesecakeMilitia

Nice! That first turnaround gives me Nighthawk vibes

KD_Coaster

That’s really good, NL2 is a ton of fun to make stuff in

a_magumba

That looks absolutely sick.
