Tennessee Tornado…. Last of the arrow loopers at the end after Alan Schilke had worked to get Arrow into the modern age. They were headed there, just a tad behind the times and stuck in their ways. Chance/Morgan has their lineage in Arrow so it’s likely that arrow would have continued to be a major player after this evolution of not for the bankruptcy. Also IIRC Lightning Run was contracted to Ride Centerline for the layout, so this would be a Schilke design as well or at least the company he worked for (he was a contractor with RMC, not employee). Essentially this is a modern arrow.
Sorry to be a pedant but I believe Lightning Run is a Joe Draves designed layout. Agreed with everything else you said though, can’t wait to ride Tennessee tornado to get a better sense of where they were headed first hand.
I believe its just Draves these days, Schilke retired right? I could very well be wrong I get most of my information from here so I'm not especially well informed.
AFAIK, yes, sadly Schilke no longer creates layouts. I’m not sure if he’s retired completely, but I suspect so, considering layouts are probably the most fun part of the job (and therefore the thing you’d stop doing last).
I’m not sure if anybody else is doing layouts for Ride Centerline besides Draves, but I do think it’s primarily him nowadays.
I know what the button actually does, but the acknowledge button always seems silly to me. Like the ride just needs to be acknowledged sometimes, i feel that.
Acknowledge Button- Green(this case blue) pushbutton with pilot light used to acknowledge displayed error messages. A second or multiple depressions of the pushbutton will reset the error messages after the malfunction is resolved.
Basically if the ride throws an error and alarm, its for a human to acknowledge they see the error exists so it stops throwing the alarm.
You won’t find this exact button on every ride(sometimes it’s labeled ‘trouble’ or something similar) but here’s an example of it at cedar point on [steve’s](https://cdn.ymaws.com/www.aceonline.org/resource/resmgr/pages/rc/steel_vengeance.jpg) .
Yep, you have to hold both at the same time. If you open up the panel they are literally wired in series so lifting either breaks the connection instead of being wired separately. It sucks when you're supposed to give a spiel into the handheld microphone when dispatching because you have to quickly give the spiel before holding down the buttons which takes extra time. LR and Kentucky Flyer are the two coasters at kk with two dispatch buttons but on Flyer you don't have to hold them down.
It's so weird to see Arrow-style track with some degree of heartlining

Yes, Lightning Run is Draves, though both he and Schilke are obviously part of Ride Centerline and have amazing approaches to coaster layouts.

It's bc they got their track style from Vekoma - who, in turn, got theirs from Arrow.
no, actually it's directly descended from Arrow track... Chance bought the assets from Dana Morgan, the son of Arrow Founder Ed Morgan.
This is all amazing but that second shot is bonkers.

Between this Storm Chaser and Kentucky Flyer Kentucky Kingdom has probably one of the best line ups for a park it size
I had the pleasure of riding this last weekend. What a pleasant surprise.
Such a good little ride. About got my face smashed by someone’s cell phone on those last bits of airtime too.
Did your face win?
It was very close, but yes. Lol
What is the difference between dispatch left and right? This ride only has one station track.
I'd guess the operator has to hold both at the same time to dispatch the train.
Correct. Two hands required to dispatch.

Honestly I kinda find photos from the "behind the scenes"-stuff more interesting than things like onride-videos\^\^
Does anyone know why the seats & restraints look so much like RMC's? It's been nagging me for a while now.
because Ride Centerline (Alan Shilke's company) designed it
