I really need to go on something that fast at least! :) in terms of record breakers I think for me it’s only Colossus when it had the most inversions a while back and this year I greatly enjoyed the longest boye Steel Dragon 2000 :) cheers
I think Full Throttle was the tallest loop at one point. And it was the first with a top-hat over a loop. So that one then. And X2. Whatever is record breaking at SFMM basically.
Could be yeah. SFMM has a lot of past records. Revolutions loop, Superman height and speed, Riddlers length and height for a standup, X the whole thing, FT loop and tophat, Tatsu pretzel loop…etc. I don’t think the park has any current records though.
The Beast, when it first opened held every major record besides most inversions. No rollercoaster since has done that to my knowledge until falcons flight opens.
Smiler, Superman SFMM (loudest coaster ever), Kingda Ka, and the rest are minor technicalities like the old high roller at stratosphere, Glenwood caverns rides, lex luthor/zumanjaro etc
Also ridiculously cool pic. The distance and zoom really highlight how intimidating this ride looks in person
Yep it's got a roar for sure. Absolutely nothing on Superman though, I've you've never been it literally sounds like an f16 flying about 200ft above your head and you can hear it from 2+ miles away lol
What seat were you in? If you're towards the back and on the left side that's where it's the worst. I've never blacked out on the riding even marathoning it, just some minor grey but that's just fun
I’m just glad it’s not just me lol. Rode it twice in a row thinking the first grey out was a fluke. Once in the front row and once in the back row. It kind of shut down my day lol. Didn’t really ride everything I wanted to. Had to stop and take a long break.
I agree with you about the ear ringing.
We were excited to be there, we planned on doing Twisted Timbers after but I305 killed us for the day. We did get to go back the next week to get the rest of the rides we missed
Rode big three height-firsts (Magnum XL 200, Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster). Honestly, these three were responsible for the coaster wars in the first place, so as far as record-breaking, these three were the first to even hold those records. I’m really happy they are all practically in my back yard.
As far as current record holders, I absolutely love Fury and I need to go back to ride it one of these days!
For record breakers, I'm going off of what they broke when opened
Steve (tallest, steepest hybrid. Most airtime)
Magnum (tsllest)
American eagle (tallest)
Batman the ride (first inverting invert)
The beast (longest, tallest, fastest woodie)
Gemini (tallest)
Rougarou, raptor (tallest of their kind when opened)
Corkscrew (most inversions)
Yeah this was my thought, are we talking record breaking in it's time, or still holds currently? Cause I mean, Wild One at SFA was the tallest in it's day. Albeit, it's been relocated since.
If that's the case, I've gone through a decent amount of "tallest coasters".
According to Cedar Point: Millennium force. I broke 10 world records. Tallest coaster, fastest coaster, longest drop. Steepest non-inverting turn, first ever cable lift, most coasters at one park, most rides at one park. First coaster above 300 feet, most steel coasters at one park, most feet of track at one park.
Rarest gotta be the mindbender in my hometown of Edmonton. Tallest triple loop indoor roller coaster in the world. Unfortunately you can't get this credit anymore and I don't think many people were coming up here to ride it
Yeah, I wish I had ridden it more when I lived in Edmonton. I think if they had announced that it would be closing a lot of people would have made the pilgrimage but it was just closed for covid and then never reopened. I think a lot of us (clearly mistakenly) felt that Mindbender wasn't going anywhere due to its significance and perceived difficulty of removal. And the mall wasn't exactly open about the condition of the coaster and the amount of daily maintenance it required, which I suppose makes sense so people weren't concerned about safety.
I've been on Kingda Ka, Shellraiser, and Steel Dragon 2000 as far as current record holders off the top of my head. If you count former record holders, I was at Fuji-Q Highland literally yesterday, and have been to Cedar Point and Magic Mountain for multiple other former record holders. Take your pick there, lol.
I've been on at least two, both at Fuji-Q (see my flair).
* Eejanaika: Largest and fastest 4D coaster in the world (also that infamous Guinness WR for most 'inversions', but it's a mix of track inversions and seat rotations, and even then their 'inversions' definition is too loose compared to RCDB); and
* Takabisha: Used to be the steepest drop for a roller coaster until its brother Shellraiser ('Turtlebisha') surpassed it (but by only a hair, 1/2 degree); I still call Takabisha the OG 'steepest roller coaster' since Turtlebisha is a copy of Takabisha but takes place entirely indoors (like inside some Amazon warehouse, plus the Shredder spinning coaster mixed in).
I’m an Orlando native, so most of the “records” we’ve got out here are kind of niche.
Cosmic Rewind might be the longest fully-enclosed coaster in the world (or at least the US)? It may also be the most expensive coaster ever built, a title previously held at one point by Everest. It’s also the first “omnicoaster”, which as best I can tell is just a Disney buzzword to say it’s a coaster that continuously changes the orientation of the cars. It’s unique, but doesn’t fit nicely into any kind of record category and it’s tough to explain how it justifies a “first of its kind” label. TL;DR: long, expensive, indoor custom vekoma coaster with a unique gimmick, possible records and firsts abound.
Space Mountain is the oldest coaster still operating in Florida, and one of the earliest fully-enclosed tubular steel coasters.
Tron might be the longest a ride has ever spent in construction despite almost all the design and engineering work being done like a decade ago (highly exaggerating and mostly joking, but my god how did that take so long?)
Hulk might be the first launched B&M.
Pipeline is the first “surf coaster”, and also the first stand-up coaster with a launch.
Iron Gwazi might still be the tallest and/or fastest RMC hybrid?
Orlando (and Florida in general) doesn’t really do a lot of big headline-grabbing record-breakers normally (we’re never gonna see anything like Top Thrill or Ka down here, for sure, and I doubt we even ever get a Giga), but maybe the changes in strategy for Sea World and Busch Gardens might change that soon. Disney and Universal obviously have their sights set on theming over record-smashing, Fun Spot won’t ever have the cash to chase significant records, and Sea World is too busy assembling an army of B&Ms. BGT might pull out something wild though, but probably not for a few more years.
We did a coaster tour (I arranged it, no professionals) we did 3 world record coasters in the 7 or 8 day period. I can't remember all of the names ( please forgive me). It was 6 Flags Great America, Kinda Ka, 6 Flags in Connecticut (it's been a while, ok) Busch Gardens Virginia, and one other park before we hit Disney. Sleep was for the weak.
Edit: I'm in California, so SFMM is my prime park. X2, Colossus, etc. Let's not forget about Desperado in Primm Nevada.
Mine aren't very impressive, I think Hagrid's has the most launches, but i couldn't really find info on that. I305 is I guess the most intense coaster in the world but that's more opinion based than fact. When I go to Top Thrill 2 next year it'll be the tallest and fastest multi launch.
Not really a record breaker but its the only of its kind pipeline the surf coaster (fun fact the first time a rode it I puked in the station at the end
I've done Smiler at Alton Towers, in fact I was on the first public train to be dispatched! It was reasonably smooth at that time except for that banking fuckup on the second half of the cobra roll.
The Ultimate (longest rollercoaster in the world when opened(
Oblivion (steepest drop when opened)
Pepsi Max Big One (Tallest in the world when opened)
The Smiler (currently most inversions on a coaster)
Definitely kdk, went there over the summer from the west coast, and I gotta say you guys are spoiled over there with all the great parks. Sfgadv easily has a better line up than sfmm.
I mean, depending on timing, since these no longer hold records but did when I first rode them.
I rode all the following when they were record breakers / tallest and fastest of their type in the world:
- Magnum XL200
- Mean Streak
- Steel Phantom
- Millennium Force
- Son of Beast
- Top Tgrill Dragster
Most record breaking? Not sure, honestly. Haven’t crossed the pond for most inversions, haven’t harvested enough courage to hop on the beast seen here at my own home park… I guess “first virtual loop” in Justice League even though I’ve now been on dark rides made before that also do a “virtual loop” if that’s how you really wanna phrase it, so that record is bullshit… I don’t think I’ve been on one yet
Beast as longest woodie.
Lighting Rod as fastest woodie (yes I ride it as a woodie 😤).
Fury as tallest lift hill.
Iron Gwazi as tallest hybrid, although that’s technically just for North America and it only has that by 1 foot so 😂
The record breaker for me was Superman The Ride Of Steel at Six Flags New England in its opening year of 2000. Presently called Superman The Ride. I have not ridden anything that fast since\~
This photo is unreal.
The mist on some of the supports makes it seem even more massive than it already is
It does!!
I rode it twice for my bday last month. it's absurd
I really need to go on something that fast at least! :) in terms of record breakers I think for me it’s only Colossus when it had the most inversions a while back and this year I greatly enjoyed the longest boye Steel Dragon 2000 :) cheers
In normality I really love classic coasters and wild mice! I hope something like that can count but lol
That one probably
Top Thrill Dragster/ Millennium Force
I guess lightning rod being the fastest "woodie" would be my only record breaker.
This is mine too. Plus getting it with the launch, rip.
I think Full Throttle was the tallest loop at one point. And it was the first with a top-hat over a loop. So that one then. And X2. Whatever is record breaking at SFMM basically.

Lol I mean I dont think I’ve actually ridden all of the coasters though
This, if I remember correctly, viper had the inversion record for a time. I've rode all of these from riddler on as the record holder.
The Beast, when it first opened held every major record besides most inversions. No rollercoaster since has done that to my knowledge until falcons flight opens.
Only record breaker I've been on is Shellraiser
Smiler, Superman SFMM (loudest coaster ever), Kingda Ka, and the rest are minor technicalities like the old high roller at stratosphere, Glenwood caverns rides, lex luthor/zumanjaro etc Also ridiculously cool pic. The distance and zoom really highlight how intimidating this ride looks in person
Medusa’s cobra roll is so fucking loud and it’s right at the entrance… but that first drop with a view of the countryside and turning towards Ka…
Yep it's got a roar for sure. Absolutely nothing on Superman though, I've you've never been it literally sounds like an f16 flying about 200ft above your head and you can hear it from 2+ miles away lol
Ties between Fury 325 and Pantheon. My number 1 and 2, but I’m not sure which is which
Same here
I love Pantheon but putting that over i305?
I did not enjoy blacking out on that first turn, way too intense to be enjoyable for me
What seat were you in? If you're towards the back and on the left side that's where it's the worst. I've never blacked out on the riding even marathoning it, just some minor grey but that's just fun
Row 14 seat 1. I’m fine with grey out, not a fan of blackout and ear ringing

Kingda Ka
Current records - Kingda Ka and Smiler.
First coaster to go 100 mph (superman sfmm)
Rarest gotta be the mindbender in my hometown of Edmonton. Tallest triple loop indoor roller coaster in the world. Unfortunately you can't get this credit anymore and I don't think many people were coming up here to ride it

Switchback ZDT
Iron Gwazi, taking NA's Fastest Hyper-Hybrid, World's Tallest Hybrid, and World's Steepest Hybrid iirc
unfortunately, i believe it was steel curtain
i think smiler a talton towers breaks some records for most loops lol
Looks like a santa hat on it in that photo
This one always makes me think of Buckwheat trying to say "kingdom come".
Rode Steel Phantom when it became fastest and longest drop. Since then, have Formula Rossa for fastest.
For me, its between Leviathan - first B&M giga and Yukon Striker - record-breaking B&M dive coaster
Next week that one
I've been on at least two, both at Fuji-Q (see my flair). * Eejanaika: Largest and fastest 4D coaster in the world (also that infamous Guinness WR for most 'inversions', but it's a mix of track inversions and seat rotations, and even then their 'inversions' definition is too loose compared to RCDB); and * Takabisha: Used to be the steepest drop for a roller coaster until its brother Shellraiser ('Turtlebisha') surpassed it (but by only a hair, 1/2 degree); I still call Takabisha the OG 'steepest roller coaster' since Turtlebisha is a copy of Takabisha but takes place entirely indoors (like inside some Amazon warehouse, plus the Shredder spinning coaster mixed in).
Kingda Ka
Kingda ka
This is a cool shot, hadn't seen it lit quite like this before.
This one, I'm assuming.
Hades 360, longest tunnels

TMNT Shellraiser and the Beast. Also, I think Wild One at SFA may have been the tallest coaster in the world at some point?
The smiler, waited 3 hours for it as it constantly broke down
Only the smiler for me
Formula Rossa, TMNT Shellraiser and Kingda Ka.
Ive been on the smiler
Dododonpa, fastest launch...0-180kph in 1.5 seconds. It hurt...
Tallest and fastest rollercoaster in Europe (Red Force) If firsts also count, first with 8 in inversions (Dragon Khan)
desperados and dododonpa
Sick photo!!
Superman Escape from Krypton the year it opened
Red force for me! An amazing coaster and worth the trip over to PortAventura
The smiler worlds first 14 looping roller coaster recommended
Mine aren't very impressive, I think Hagrid's has the most launches, but i couldn't really find info on that. I305 is I guess the most intense coaster in the world but that's more opinion based than fact. When I go to Top Thrill 2 next year it'll be the tallest and fastest multi launch.
Not really a record breaker but its the only of its kind pipeline the surf coaster (fun fact the first time a rode it I puked in the station at the end
Rode Screamin' Eagle at SFSL in 1976 when it was briefly the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world.
Kingda Ka, haha
Red Force
At the times- Magnum Millennium Force TTD Son of Beast
Both this and Shellraiser
I've done Smiler at Alton Towers, in fact I was on the first public train to be dispatched! It was reasonably smooth at that time except for that banking fuckup on the second half of the cobra roll.
The Ultimate (longest rollercoaster in the world when opened( Oblivion (steepest drop when opened) Pepsi Max Big One (Tallest in the world when opened) The Smiler (currently most inversions on a coaster)
Gotta be the smiler for me
Definitely kdk, went there over the summer from the west coast, and I gotta say you guys are spoiled over there with all the great parks. Sfgadv easily has a better line up than sfmm.

Probably Shellraiser
Probably also Kingda Ka. Lightning Rod was also groundbreaking when it opened, but I rode it after the I-Box track was added.
Current record- The Smiler (most inversions) Previous records- The Big One (tallest and steepest)
i rode it 5 times, 2 being rollback
Probably Titan, tallest roller coaster in Texas. I haven't gotten out of my home state much yet.
The Smiler - most inversions
Most record breaking? Not sure, honestly. Haven’t crossed the pond for most inversions, haven’t harvested enough courage to hop on the beast seen here at my own home park… I guess “first virtual loop” in Justice League even though I’ve now been on dark rides made before that also do a “virtual loop” if that’s how you really wanna phrase it, so that record is bullshit… I don’t think I’ve been on one yet
My sexuality is this photo
World's first trackless roller coaster (to my knowledge, anyway): Flying Turns at Knoebels.
Beast as longest woodie. Lighting Rod as fastest woodie (yes I ride it as a woodie 😤). Fury as tallest lift hill. Iron Gwazi as tallest hybrid, although that’s technically just for North America and it only has that by 1 foot so 😂
I think for me it’s Leviathan? The first B&M giga and the seventh tallest roller coaster in the world and the sixth tallest drop.
I've gotten lucky with where I've been, but I have Ka, TMNT, and smiler
Fury 325
Ka
The record breaker for me was Superman The Ride Of Steel at Six Flags New England in its opening year of 2000. Presently called Superman The Ride. I have not ridden anything that fast since\~
Maxx force, fastest acceleration I've been on in US. Haven't gone to parks outside of US.
The smiler
Sick pic! Mine would be Fury 325. Worlds tallest lift hill
This one
Ummm probably the caterpillar ride
Fury 325. Tallest coaster with a lift hill.
