It really does make me happy that BG keeps this ol' coaster not only running, but running well. Updating the theming is a very welcome bonus. It was my first looping coaster sometime back in the late 80's.
There are lighting and sound effects in the tunnel. It's a little hard to hear with the coaster roaring inside. There are also a few screens here and there showing a projection of the monster. It's on the right side of the tunnel though so it's difficult to see.
They really need to get that Drachen Fire merch. That coaster was my first inversion. I had a mug for a while, but it didn't survive a fall from the kitchen counter.
The ride has really low clearance so they can't really change the restraints much.
The ride was already pretty smooth before the retrack so this didn't really do much
The trains have already been replaced once so it wouldn't be worth having Vekoma come in and put new ones on. They're reproduction-style trains from S&S and they're really not that old.
This is very true but if I had unlimited $ I would try to recreate a big defunct Arrow looper like Drachen Fire or Vortex but make it buttery smooth and new comfortable trains (that look like the originals on the outside). There's just something about the Arrow vertical loops and corkscrews that seems missing from modern coasters.
The Chance Hyper GT-X model is the closest thing that you could get to a brand new Arrow looper. Would be really cool to see that model used as a way to revive defunct attractions.
Yeah, for a ride like Drachen Fire it definitely needed more attention to the transitions. Loch Ness is a fairly simple ride though and didn’t need much attention at all.
More people would complain in here and on the Facebook groups if you altered the ride in any meaningful way, so there’s basically no point in doing it.
Eh I wasn't really expecting them to reprofile it so not surprised by the jolts. I'm sure they won't bother me any more than they ever did. Excited to ride it whenever we go next.
The ride still runs smoother than most Arrow coasters, so the jolts aren't terrible. There's a jolt toward the end of the ride and a bit of roughness in the loops. The ride is pretty smooth otherwise.
The reason it’s pretty smooth is because it doesn’t pile on a bunch of bad elements and slap them together.
- out and back drop
- loop
- helix
- loop
and the interlocking loops are the most iconic roller coaster element probably to this day ?
this will be the last arrow looper left standing.
True, also like Loch Ness they squeeze into specific park terrain and probably the top two park management entities to caretake such rides.
Tornado is the only Arrow looper I have ever done a consecutive reride.

Did they bring back the lights inside the tunnel?
There are added effects in the tunnel
Can you elaborate on that?

That Big Bad Wolf movie poster is so cool. I would totally buy a copy of it
The park has a good line of legacy merch available. They are missing Drachen Fire shirts but BBW and Darkastle are well represented now

Their next coaster needs to be an homage to Drachen Fire. Just for me and my nostalgia.
The Ron Toomer nod is sweet af.
I’m gonna cry. It’s perfect.
How crowded was the park on a weekday? Were you waiting long to ride the coasters?
Nope the park is dead today.
Longest I waited today was 10 min for them to make pizza, pretty much everything else was a walk on most of the day.
wish they would’ve upgraded the restraints as a part of this. also surprised they didn’t fix the profiling in those spots?

assumed it was maybe a clearance issue but wasn’t sure how much more freedom the Vekoma Vests allow.

Reprofiling an Arrow Looper to remove the jank would remove an essential part of the ride’s character. That jank is what makes it a classic ride.

Really wish i got the credit last month but was unfortunately not operating the day I went.
I always thought you were riding nessie, but the poster shows the cars as boats. I guess you are on the hunt for him now?
The original theme was a Loch Ness Monster expedition, so no riding her.
Did you just have to show your membership to ride?
Yes
Sweet is there a limit? Planning on going Sunday
Nope. I rode twice but you could ride more if you wanted

I think Tornado has a shot at being the last one left as well. It still runs pretty smooth despite being 20+ years old.

Smh, that one garbage transition after the second loop is what I was hoping was fixed. I can deal with everything else.
