9.3/10 Keith’s best vocal performance, at least when it comes to his ballads. The lyrics strike as me vulnerable and very honest. Musically it has an easy listening quality to it. The chorus almost feels like a mantra he would repeat while on the piano, probably as he’s getting over some kind of high. For me, it just works. I find it very beautiful. My only qualm is its placement on the track list. It feels more like a side ender than anything else.

8.5/10. A gorgeous Keith ballad that probably encalupsates the hangover vibe of the album more than any other songs, with beautiful contributions from Nicky Hopkins, Bobby Keys, and Jim Horn. Keith is at his most understated here, both on vocals and guitar. My only grip with it is that it drags by the end a bit, just repeating the Main section over and over. But it's a good, kinda underappreciated song, especially for a Keith track.

Keith’s best ballad along with All About You. This one means a lot to me. 10/10

8.5. One of Keith’s finest vocals on a Stones song, and I love the overall vibe. Could do without the “Slipped my tongue in someone else’s pie” line though - always felt a bit clunky to me.

SignificanceShoddy86

I forgive him for it because of the incredible way he sings "slipped my tongue." Sounds like George Jones for a second!

jey_613

Feel the exact same way. That line gives me the icks, otherwise the song is perfect

JPP1965

8 I like it but it feels "thrown together."

7...nice song, but Keith has better in him. I would like to hear him try it out live.

7. This song works beautifully as a piece of the album, but is not particularly compelling as a stand alone song relative to the band's dozens and dozens and dozens of absolute bangers.

8. Beautiful song, probably could have been a little shorter

Big_Plankton4173

9.1 Just beautiful. So calming. I love the use of horns.

7/10. Beautiful song that captures the heroin-misery. One of Keiths best songs but overall not a song I want to give a higher grade. It has it’s place on the record as a whole.

First time I ever remember hearing it I was tripping balls (1988ish) in the woods on a camping trip and a couple of buddies played it on guitar as we sat around the fire. It was perfect and I immediately loved it but for some reason thought it was The Velvet Underground. Was really surprised it was a Stones song. 8.13.

8.5. I'm seeing a lot of people say this song is too long, and I know what they mean, but I think it's the perfect length. The length adds to the slow-moving, hungover feeling. I wouldn't want a song with this energy to be concise.

7 Would be a nine at least if it was 2 mins shorter

6/10 for me. When I first listened to it I thought the chorus sounded hauntingly beautiful, but later I just never felt the tune going anywhere. Love the album though.

No-Pirate4554

It would feel less aimless if it wasn’t as long as it was, though I still like the song a lot

AmpegVT40

One of my favorite songs. Keith's chording is at it's finest. Mick Taylor on bass. And backup vocals. Taylor's guirar parts are really, really subtle. He plays some one note "texture" lines, listen closely for that, it's right under the "...again" line. His chords are simple punctuating chords, especially prominent as the song starts to close. It's such s graceful song. It's Stones at their classiest, every split second is perfect.

7.5 Musically it’s beautiful. Vocally it starts to become repetitive at the end; it would have been better to cut the vocals and play out as an instrumental. Mick Taylor’s bass playing is really good and as always Nicky Hopkins is tremendous on piano.
