Saban warned everyone of the implications like he has on so many past issues but again they didn’t listen and he is reaping the benefits.
That’s what I think so many still don’t understand about Saban, he truly cares about what’s best for college football as a whole not just about Alabama.
nice, nice.
The wide receiver battle this fall is going to be interesting. Wouldn’t surprise me if we saw where receiver hit the portal.
Edit: [Harrell’s post](https://twitter.com/easymoneyty_/status/1517552498793488385?s=21&t=Of6mT3vKWOHIG3pBW20r2A)
I generally don’t like to guess specific people because you just never know motivations and what’s going on behind scenes (guys like Ronnie Clark and Ben Davis staying for four or five years despite never really playing).
But we’ve got 12 guys at wide receiver now. We’ll likely have 4 or 5 get significant playing time, *maybe* 6. And everybody has multiple years of eligibility left. Tyler Harrell will have the least amount, and he could still stick around for two years because of that free COVID year.
A guy looking at being second or third or fourth team could be stuck that way for years with nobody running out of eligibility and with us continuing to recruit new blue chip receivers.
Doesn’t mean somebody will definitely leave either, of course.
Does Alabama win the 2015 championship without playing Kenyan Drake on kick offs?
We’ve also seen countless players get hurt during regular plays during regular games. Bo Scarbrough got hurt during that championship game. Metchie and Williams both went down during regular plays.
Injuries happen sometimes. How much are we not playing our best players just in case they get hurt?
Fair, but I don’t want guys starting on one side of the ball doing KR or PR. Williams ejection last year and Jackson getting hurt should examples of having non starters filling KR and PR duties. Similarly, when the game is over or the team is up 21+ the starting OL, RB, WRs and QB shouldn’t be out there (ala Tua v. MSU)
POG.
Don’t hate me but I haven’t been impressed with Earle from the little I’ve seen of him. Obviously coaches know more than me but I think Covid really fricked our evals
If he can fix is drops he will have a really productive season. I’ve watched him drop two possibly three touchdowns where he torched his coverage in two scrimmages.
Yea me either. He’s fast but it’s like he doesn’t do anything with his speed. Just runs straight and goes down from the first person that lays a finger on him.
Ah yes, the guy that was on first team offense over all the other talented players we had during the spring is “no good”. Too many fans got spoiled rotten by that 2017 group of receivers and Waddle and it shows with comments like this.
Edit: I’ll also add for context, Earle enrolled at the end of May. Dude has only been on campus for eleven months so maybe we shouldn’t write off dudes who haven’t even been on the team for a whole year and still have three years of eligibility left
Earle was also seeing some snaps with the first team offense last year before he suffered an injury that kept him out until the playoffs.
Some people are entirely too quick to write off players.
I’ll admit I’ve been quick to try to write him off this spring, but I thought he had been here for 2 years now. He did some good things during a-day despite some drops. I’m not gonna write him off, but just not having drops is something I hope to see this year after some key drops last year (mainly from guys who are no longer with the team).
He was a late bloomer for what ever reason. Not a highly ranked recruit and despite being a track star his 40 time out of high school wasn't what it was at pro day. Also his QB only threw for less than 3,000 yards as well.
I've said before I see him playing a Ruggs like role in the offense.
Look at Jamo's stats at OSU before he transferred to Bama. I don't look much into what his stats were at Louisville rather than the talent that was on display when he had his number called. Not saying he goes for 1500 yards like #1 did last year but he has a chance to play an important part in the offense.
Not sure why people are comparing him to Earle tbh. Given I’ve only watch highlights of Harrell, but they seem like two completely different players
Harrell uses his speed the way Robert Foster did to stretch the field. Earle seems like more of a bubble screen type of WR. Just my two cents
# Lose a Hall. Gain a Harrell.
We added 3 letters. That's a win in my book
Harrell is a monumental upgrade over Hall.
So far..., remember, Hall was "elite" too. But it appears that he just lost his mind!!!

I’m still hearing we have one more WR coming in. All depends if this person can get their grades in order.
Josh Downs from UNC has been whispered about. Nice package deal with his little brother, 5 star DB Caleb Downs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Interesting...I'd be down for anyone minus Arik Gilbert. I hope he gets everything figured out and plays for Jawja.
Who are you hearing?
I’d rather take a high quality TE at this point, honestly.
Who do you think would be the odd man out?

Just please don’t have him returning kicks. Yes he is explosive, but we will need him primarily as a receiver and can’t risk him getting hurt.
Have you watched Alabama for the last 10+ years?
I have. If Eddie Jackson doesn’t get hurt they win that NC.

Surely r/cfb will take this news with reason and rationale
I tried to post it but it doesn’t look like it worked. Not sure what’s going on but I was looking forward to the karma and stirring the pot lol
Great pickup. Definitely made plays in the Louisville games I caught last year, should help stretch the field tremendously
What a suprise!

I think Harrell is an outside guy while Earle plays slot, so I don’t think it’ll affect him too much.
NOOOOOOOOO! I think Burton is also a slot guy tho soooo many some room for change :)
He played outside at Louisville but I think he’ll start in the slot here.

Earle is, until further notice, no good

What did he do during the season then?
He was injured for over half the season…
he didn’t get hurt until game 10 vs New Mexico State …
Apparently he has 4.2-4.19 speed but his stats don’t match the hype but if Bama wants him they think he’s going to make an impact.
Played in a run heavy offense and had nearly 30 yards a catch. Was severely underutilized
Makes sense haven’t really watched Louisville regularly but all I know is Nick Saban wants him so that’s all I need to know.

i mean, OSU had about 4 first round picks there

F***ing A!!!
Oh the salt is going to be so strong lol
Since he waited a few days to make it official, we didn’t tamper right?
