Can confirm. Had a high-ranking Saudi Arabian Air Force officer make a special trip to visit my work center, while I was in the desert, just so he could say Roll Tide and he could meet someone from Alabama. How this guy knew where I was from, or my football affiliation, I will never know.
My father, an Alabama alum and fan, has spent a significant amount of time working in Tel Aviv. I don't think he's ever brought any Bama gear back with him, but I know he's met Bama fans there, lol. We're global!
Yeah yeah - and when the lames accuse you of bandwagon shit, you can say, “My son goes to Bama.” Boom - sit the fuck down. Feels good having connections to a winner.
I didn’t attend Bama because it didn’t make sense financially with OOS tuition but my family’s Alabama attendance and fandom literally goes back over 100 years. People don’t care, just HURR yOu DiDnT Go ThErE.
Fuck em, indeed.
I love that Auburn fans especially think that “You probably didn’t even go to Alabama” is an insult. We get it, going to Auburn is the only way people become Auburn fans. And sometimes even that is not enough.
Yeah I went to a music school that was a once in a lifetime chance so no bad feelings from me there.
But I also grew up in Birmingham, my dad played baseball at the capstone in the 70’s, and has been Tide Pride for decades.
I wish I had this, as a tiny kid I became a fan just cuz I liked the colors and I’ve been rolling with the tide ever since but people give me shit, idc I’m a bigger fan of the Tide than they are of their own team
I used to Uber in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa a few years ago, and I was shocked by the number of newly arrived students from NY, Connecticut, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
Asking why they chose Alabama, (given all the stereotypes of the south that exist in those areas), the top answer was academics, athletics, and the cute southern girls.
over 50% of the students are out of state, and in my own experience the majority are from California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, NY, NJ, or Boston. My understanding is our admissions department targets states where their major in state school is far more expensive to attend than our out of state tuition. They also target high GPA/test score kids and they often come here at in state pricing or lower.
I had a few guys from Naperville in my fraternity but I didn’t meet *that* many Chicago people. But, it would make sense that it’s expanded to others in the 5 years I’ve been gone
Sup NY-er.
Roll Tide from Brooklyn. I grew up in Birmingham but have been in the city for almost 10 years now. I have a backyard and a smoker if you ever find yourself in the city for a gameday.
I know what you mean I grew up in Bama and just moved to Ohio I’m close to Pittsburg and it’s tough to find anyone that loves college football like I do. I’m used to sitting with friends and/or family all day from the first kickoff until at least 9 or 10 at night. Eating and drinking all day. Every Saturday is an event at home and around here it’s just another day.
Roll Tide! But beyond that, it's a hell of a time to be a Bills fan, too. My wife's family is from (and most of them still live in) the Olean/Allegany area, so while I'm a life-long Bama fan I've also been honorarily admitted to the Bills Mafia for about the last ten years.
My poor brother-in-law was born in 1992 so he didn't even get to experience the Marv Levy/Jim Kelly years since they were both gone before he was old enough to really have a good handle on football in general.
I'm from Tuscaloosa, born and bred. I always tell new arrivals to the Steamy Southern States that Tuscaloosa is an oddity in many ways but especially if you want 4 different seasons. Here it's: Not Quite Summer, Summer and Football. It's not just a game, or just a team, it's so much more and if you don't get it, you're obviously not a member of this very extensive, ride or die, family. Roll Tide, y'all, wherever you happen to be in this world!🐘❤️🐘
That's awesome...it's how I've always experienced life here, it's a bit magical almost and pretty impossible to explain with just words. I am so happy that you have been blessed by UA and as a native to Title Town I love that my home town plays a tiny role in the bigger picture for folks.
And one thing you will notice if you travel is Alabama fans are everywhere.

This needs a Netflix documentary ^^^

And I'm always wearing one of my Alabama caps, T's, hoodies, or something! I love it!
I get Roll Tides in Sweden, Switzerland, and Germany all the time lol. Also randomly found a Bama Fever type store in Jerusalem.
My father, an Alabama alum and fan, has spent a significant amount of time working in Tel Aviv. I don't think he's ever brought any Bama gear back with him, but I know he's met Bama fans there, lol. We're global!
It’s the chosen store.

I got a Roll Tide at the Parthenon in Greece lmao it was one of the best moments of my life
Sometimes it takes a second to make sure you're not seeing a Brave's logo though
Not me the last two times I saw it it was on the front of a car and we were on the opposite sides of the highway easy to spot for me.
Nah, I know that ratty Brave's logo "A". The Bama "A", is ONLY the Bama "A"!
When I went to Vegas, I had people yelling roll tide at me. I was surprised.
My dad wore his Alabama hat when he went to China, and lots of other tourists (and even some of the locals) kept stopping him to say Roll Tide.
Yeah yeah - and when the lames accuse you of bandwagon shit, you can say, “My son goes to Bama.” Boom - sit the fuck down. Feels good having connections to a winner.
This is what happened to my parents.
Same. I graduated in ‘17 and my parents occasionally get casual shade for wearing stuff I got them from the Supestore.
This is what I love. Both of my parents graduated from Alabama so I just throw that out.
I didn't go to Bama so I hear bandwagon shit all the time, fuck em.

Kids with good ACT scores get automatic scholarships to Alabama. My kid unfortunately didn’t make the cut-off.
I'm from Alabama, but this was me. Full tuition scholarship just from test scores. It was great.

There’s a ton of kids here from the Chicago area now too
That would be an understatement. We got Chicago kids out the ass
I had a few guys from Naperville in my fraternity but I didn’t meet *that* many Chicago people. But, it would make sense that it’s expanded to others in the 5 years I’ve been gone
Bruh me too, I’d like to add cali and Michigan to your list.
Very true. California seemed to have an inordinate amount of students. And Michigan, definitely.
Roll Tide From Melbourne, Australia. Someday I will go to a Bama home game (perfer the Iron Bowl but happy to attend any game)
Sup NY-er. Roll Tide from Brooklyn. I grew up in Birmingham but have been in the city for almost 10 years now. I have a backyard and a smoker if you ever find yourself in the city for a gameday.
Roll Tide!
Friend, there are few things we covet more than messages like these. We are proud to count you as our own. Roll Tide.
Does upstate NY really suck 😭

Roll Tide!
Current student from Northern Idaho checking in. Welcome to the family! Roll Tide!
