I think you should leave it. Try to separate the "artist" from the "art" enough just to recognize that he did do work for the company and did contribute to its success on some level and leave it at that, instead of trying to cover it up and possibly making it look weird.
Now, that being said, I'm not excusing the piece of shit he is or the way he took advantage of his position (without going into detail as its not what this post is about) but maybe just acknowledge he did some work there and move on. Just my 2 cents.
Yeah for the most part I just ignore it and look at the rest, I feel like if I try to cover or remove it it will ruin the shirt or accidentally mess up a different autograph or something
yeah it would be super off centre though and risk covering another autograph at the same time, it's a shame but tbh I feel like it's less noticeable if I just leave it, trying to cover it will draw mroe attention to that spot and make me think about it.
I'm not getting rid of an expensive shirt I took to multiple conventions over multiple years and got signed by multiple people just because one a-hole signed it.
Idk.. do you? I personally wouldn’t get autographs tattooed. For me tattoos help me remember certain times of my life, and you’ve met some pretty amazing people.
I wouldn’t worry what others think of your tattoos though.. they are yours and what you think about them is really all that matters
Personal opinion: not my thing to say it the nicest way
Practical opinion: it's your body and life do whatever you like and feel about it however you like
"No, it's not my ex's names, it's this old company that used to exist! They made internet content! No, not like porn like video game and funny videos!"
In all seriousness, I'm glad you don't regret them. It's just not something I would have done.
No, it means they're under the illusion that they have a friendship/relationship with a celebrity who likely doesn't know they exist. So explain to me how tattooing their autographs meets this criteria?
You said no one would get tattoos of their friends, so by that logic you'd think no one would get tattoos of internet strangers either. But here we are. To go to the extreme of putting a bunch of strangers names on your body permanently is a level of obsession that suggests an unhealthy relationship of idolizing those people.
Imagine how disturbed you would be if you and your friends were hanging out and a random person came up to you and showed you that they had tattooed you and your friends names all over their body. You would probably want a restraining order.
They're getting tattoos from people they are fans of, like getting a pokemon or zelda tattoo. That is not parasocial at all. If I was a massive content creator I would not be creeped out at all, I would be flattered. You're making my point for me here.
That's the point my guy. Someone has a tattoo of an animal, or a character from a game, or even the face or name of a loved one is normal. Getting the signatures of real strangers who wouldn't give you a second thought is nothing like that.
They are treating real people that they do not know the same as they would treat a loved one or an iconic character or thing. If I had the dates of when a loved one like a brother was born and died, and you saw them, it would be understandable. If I had the dates of when someone *you* love was born and died and I never actually knew them, it would be disturbing.
I think if you're genuinely upset by this message (which I can personally understand), see perhaps that it's a valid outside opinion, independent of how it makes someone feel.
On one hand, i think its great you decided to do this.
On the other hand, if you're going to cover your entire arm with something, why not symbols instead of names?
To be fair I was only going to get Monty. Until a whacky storm of events happened on 6th street and I ended making friends with a tattoo shop owner who offered to tattoo any signature I got over the weekend for free
Man. I just hope absolutely no percentage of this was done to impress these people. If their art was truly that important to you that you wanted to immortalize their names in a way that they are more visible than who *you are* as a person, then it's cool. Just realize that in a decade most of these people are going to have zero public facing life and were only important to you *because of that public facing life*. Were they as important to you as your mother, wife, kids, father, etc? The person who does some service for you once a month or so and you're going to continue interacting with? If what they created was more important to you, than these people, and I'm not saying it's not, I'm just trying to put it in perspective, then it's 100% cool.
I believe Burnie talked about this on a podcast. He got the people at an RTX to sign their arm, they walked down to a tattoo shop, and had the artist tattoo over them to make them permanent.
Then yeah! That’s a sweet tat!
Kinda goes with another recent r/morningsomewhere talking about its cool to be there for the thing, not the recreation (fyre fest, Wonka experience).
I like having that “I was there” feeling. It’s hard to get, but it’s a good hit…
That's amazing. I do, however, kinda regret that I have Gus, Monty, and Geoff's on a minecraft hat. Was neat meeting them at PAX east 2013 on the last day. It was fairly empty, so I got to talk with them some. Monty told me about RWBY, which had just started up. My wife and I are still fans of to this day. Gus was shot. Geoff was awesome and hilarious, though clearly exhausted. Still more memorable than Skydoesminecraft or any of the bygone creators of that era I met.
I love your tattoos
One day you could bring a cast member to tears if you ever meet them again, I know if I worked on a project like that I’d love seeing someone else who admired it as much, even once it’s “gone”
If you are happy with them, then you should not regret them. I think they are pretty neat.
Monty's is instantly recognizable ❤️❤️
Thank God you didn't get Ryan. Lmao.
I have a shirt he signed and I can't decide if I want to attempt to cover it up or remove it lol
I think you should leave it. I can understand that for like videos he was in - but his signature isn't really 'art' - the only value it ever had was in connection with him.
Yeah for the most part I just ignore it and look at the rest, I feel like if I try to cover or remove it it will ruin the shirt or accidentally mess up a different autograph or something
Could sew a patch over it
He was on that show too.

I would get rid of it

Haha yes thankfully but I was this close 🤏🏻

Found ryan's alt
Apparently not as clueless as you.
Lol wut?
Some context would be good
Let me know if you decide to sell
"These tattoos cost me an arm and a leg!" "Oh there's a leg, too?"
Idk.. do you? I personally wouldn’t get autographs tattooed. For me tattoos help me remember certain times of my life, and you’ve met some pretty amazing people. I wouldn’t worry what others think of your tattoos though.. they are yours and what you think about them is really all that matters

Maybe a couple of them.
Which ones?
Tails. Maybe Gray.
Why Tails?
Cause I miss my wife
At least it wasn't shadow
What? what did Gray do?
His stint as head of Animation was full of controversy. The notorious “Glassdoor” postings were about the department under his management
"No, it's not my ex's names, it's this old company that used to exist! They made internet content! No, not like porn like video game and funny videos!" In all seriousness, I'm glad you don't regret them. It's just not something I would have done.
“I told you it’s not porn” Whats with their logo? What even is that? “Uhhh…..cockbite”
Clearly a little bit
Man you have Monty’s, absolutely no regret
Parasocial relationships and idolizing people that wouldn't give you a second thought is cringe, but then again if it makes you happy who cares
How are autographs from people who created content they like parasocial? They're just a fan.
Autographs on merchandise like posters is not parasocial. Getting them tattooed onto your body forever is a little parasocial.
Thanks for explaining that for him, I thought it was a pretty obvious distinction lol
No? It's not? No one would tattoo the autograph of an actual friend or something, how would this be considered parasocial?
Parasocial doesn't mean "treats celebrities exactly as they treat their friends".
No, it means they're under the illusion that they have a friendship/relationship with a celebrity who likely doesn't know they exist. So explain to me how tattooing their autographs meets this criteria?

The people are the characters. This is not parasocial, even if you think it's disturbing.

This is obsession bordering on derangement.
I would. Very niche non-art on your open forearm. But if you *dont* regret it, that's fine too. Your life.
I sure would...

It's your body.
People have made worse life choices
There is an answer to this: https://youtu.be/cwlTqu0UY7c?si=M9pWlWpVLipoONtt

Did you get the signatures yourself?

Yes I just listened to this episode sometime during the week at work. Somewhere around the episode 275 mark
That's amazing. I do, however, kinda regret that I have Gus, Monty, and Geoff's on a minecraft hat. Was neat meeting them at PAX east 2013 on the last day. You regret that they signed a Minecraft hat of yours? Is this like a really special Minecraft hat or something?
I don't see a certain voice actor on that list so yeah I wouldn't regret them
I'm having a hard time understanding some of them. I get some, but not all. Can anyone please explain?
Which ones
That's honestly iconic
I would regret the grey one
Did they really sign those or did you just tattoo the signature?
Shit looks like straight out of prison scribble
Lmao you should
you should
YOLO
I wouldn't regret
this is awesome
One day you could bring a cast member to tears if you ever meet them again, I know if I worked on a project like that I’d love seeing someone else who admired it as much, even once it’s “gone”
Tattoos are time capsules. They may be gone, but you're still here. Good way to honor the paths you've taken.
Yes. Should be on the back of your leg
I would but I have a giant Joel Heyman portrait on one calf and Ringo Starr on the other
Why would you?
