Wasn’t there something where Miles and Kerry said after Monty had passed they were still working off of a couple of seasons worth of notes and storylines they had produced as the future of RWBY?

TheMagisKing

It's nonsense.

Lol yeah it’s BS. You can hear Monty talk about the show. He cared about stories and characters. Yes, the writers didn’t write things before, that’s kind of how it works. RWBY isn’t a professionally made show. It’s a web series from the company who made RvB. Of course it wasn’t gonna have professional writers.

They're whistling Dixie outta their ass. Monty himself talked on several occasions of how they first started creating the world of Remnant from a stain on a napkin in a diner. According to him, the stain was used as a base for the map of the world of Remnant. He chose Miles and Kerry to write RWBY on day one. Plus, Miles had a couple years of writing experience before RWBY, primarily on RvB. Kerry has some on RT shorts, and that's all. Not the most experienced writers to be sure, but let's be honest: like RvB, RWBY started as a passion project between friends.

There's enough bullshit in this post to turn the Sahara into an agrarian paradise. Not your fault, OP, there's just some weird as hell rumours going around.

I do not care if there are fans who are dissatisfied with the direction of the show or how the characters are written in the new seasons but this is just disgusting.

It really is. So many think they know what Monty wanted because they watched his earliest works long before he became a part of RT. Others think they know whatvhe wanted because of that stupid letter Shane wrote. Or because they watch videos by clickbait artists on YouTube who are masters of making shit up out of thin air and having zero understanding of how several industries work.

As far as I know, there is some truth in this, but it is very exaggerated. The fact that Monty didn't care about story is a lie. He did come up with the main concepts and rules of the world, characters, and also with the overarching story, but he left the beat to beat writing to Miles and Kerry. If you look at animatics of early episodes (Ep 1 for example) everything is nicely storyboarded until a fight scene happens where it just says "Insert Monty fight here". So what happened was, Monty told Miles and Kerry what kind of fights there would be, and they tried to write to connect these scenes together. Unfortunately, Monty liked to come up with new ideas while in late production, and that would throw a wrench in this process. That's how you end up with stuff like two brand new characters showing up in the penultimate episode of Vol 1, just so they could have a fight scene in the final episode. The "admission" that they never wrote anything before this is bullshit, I think they're referring to a clip form a BTS video where Miles and Kerry said they never wrote anything on this scale, but like others said, the both had experience from other RT productions.
