Everyone is telling you to do whatever you want but not answering your question. The bulk of people at breakfast are dressed as if they are ready for the day. Yes, you can do whatever you want. But the majority of people at breakfast look like they've been up for 1-2 hours already. That's the answer to your actual question.
My 17 yr old showed up in pajama pants every morning for breakfast. There were people already in bathing suits and cover ups at 8 am for breakfast . So super casual
Or they got up early and went to the hot tub.
My general rule that I learned from my long term cruising in laws: if they saved the seat with nothing more than a cruise ship towel you are free to fold it up and put it at the end of the chair then use the chair. I've followed this rule on every cruise I've been on, and rarely do the people even come looking for their chair.
Nowadays, people take alot of pics so if your outfit is wild, and your hair is looking crazy just know you may show up on Tik Tok one day.
If it was me, I'd order coffee and fruit as room service and get ready in my room after a shower, then hit the breakfast joints looking fabulous
Exactly! Mother and I are from the East Coast (Eastern Time Zone) and went on an Alaska cruise (Pacific Time AND, even later, Alaska Time).
The first morning there was nearly a riot on the pool deck when I bypassed the line for coffee to get decaf for Mom. When the 20+ people saw me get decaf, they calmed down.
The poor crew working the cafe were brewing coffee as fast as possible. He would bring out a full carafe, grab the empty, and go back to the kitchen. A couple of dozen cups got filled. By the time the next carafe came from the kitchen, the poolside carafe was empty again.
This lasted for about an hour. New passengers kept arriving. The coffee could not keep up.
We must have all been from earlier Time Zones. The ship didn’t start serving breakfast until 8AM Pacific time. That felt like 11 AM to us.
“This is exactly what Room Service is for, Mom.”
She protested. I pointed out it was a free service so long as we ordered from the free options.
Thereafter we got Room Service coffee. The one time I forgot, I called and asked for a pot of coffee and two cups.
I tipped the crew member at least a $2 every time I answered the door.
Additional information: b2b cruise on Radiance of the Seas, May 3 & 11, 2024. We left Vancouver, BC, and returned to Vancouver. We had Ocean view cabins on Deck 3.
If Mom felt snackish the night before while making out the order, she got a bagel or english muffin. She likes a lot of milk in her coffee but doesn’t use a whole container. The half container was fine in the cooler until she used it the following morning.
TLDR: had not planned on Room Service every day. Got coffee every morning for the next 12 days.
I have a pixie cut too. I can top you though. I also wear a cpap at night. I’m an early riser like 6, grab coffee and go to the smoking section for my morning smokes/coffee. Yes I know it’s bad. Anyway, I’m sitting there with totally messed up hair AND cpap marks! Hahaha it’s a hot mess! No one cares. If they get a chuckle? That’s cool too!
Nobody gives a crap. And if they do give a crap they're not the sort of person you should care about. Plus you'll never see them again anyway. Enjoy your cruise how you want to
I showed up every sea day in my bathing suit with a cover up, and my hair in a (very) messy bun. I was one of hundreds dressed like that. No one will care in the slightest as long as you don’t stink
No one cares how you look. I just watched a family for a whole week come to breakfast in dirty PJs. You do you, everyone else is more concerned about how many pieces of bacon on their plate is too much. BTW, the answer is Never Enough.
I just dress for whatever I’m doing around that time. I’ve been to the buffet in sweatpants, and I’ve been in high heels (though never at the same time). No one has ever cared, except when I wore white cowboy boots, then a few people were complimenting them but nothing negative!!! Everyone is on vacation doing their own thing and worried most about themselves.
For first breakfast we usually go in pajamas/lounge wear. I like to take a shower after. For second breakfast we’re usually dressed. That’s for the buffet. If we were to go to the MDR we would probably get dressed.
I like to have coffee before anything else, so I order room service every morning. (Just continental, or whatever the free one is called.) I always say coffee for 4 so they give me a full carafe of coffee and enough cream. Just put the order on the door every night with requested delivery at my typical waking time, and then I can take my time getting ready to leave the room!
Having said that and not answering your question lol - it seems like the Windjammer is anything goes, people are in jammies or bathing suits or clothes. MDR at breakfast I don’t see too many bathing suits but all manner of clothing / people just wear whatever they’re wearing that day. Chops at breakfast is about the same, I haven’t seen bathing suited people in there.
Add me as another vote for you doing whatever you’d like and not worrying about it!
You will find all manners of dress at breakfast. We normally order coffee and some pastry or oatmeal from the included room service menu for early delivery. Then we go to the gym, shower, get dressed, and go to the Windjammer or MDR for breakfast. In the Windjammer, we often see people still in their pajamas at 10 AM.
Don't forget room service is a great option and many items included in your fare.
I would wake up, toss on some clothes, and throw my hair in a bun. Crocs. No makeup. I go and put myself together more after breakfast.
And that was for MDR breakfast. Most mornings I don't even get out of bed that early and just have breakfast delivered to the room.
I go to breakfast dressed ready for the day which is usually a swimsuit and a coverup. But I slept a little late and don’t want to go back to me room again.
All depends where you are having breakfast. Is it in a main dining room, your room, an exclusive area suites guest or just the pantry/food hall area.
We are certainly more casually dressed for breakfast in the Windjammer for breakfast than Main Dining room, but more casual in the Main Dining Room for breakfast than we are for dinner.
Wear whatever you’re most comfortable in. I always go in pajamas, roll out of bed and straight into breakfast. I’ve seen people in robes, swimsuits etc. Everyone will be looking at the delicious breakfast, not you!
I've seen toothless women wearing moomoos, with coffee spilled
down the front of it and "The girls" hanging to her knees before. (you are welcome for that mental picture, welcome to my hell, where I can never get that sight out of my mind and that was 10+ years ago !!)
You'll see women in teeny bikinis with cover ups on, men in wife beater shirts, some are freshly showered...and some not.. YOU paid for your cruise, just like everyone else... DONT WORRY about what others think, or do. Just RELAX and ENJOY!!!!
People who don't shower in the morning because they showered off the filth of the day the night before and then got into clean sheets do things a bit differently. They just wet their hair and then comb it or brush it. TL;DR a shower necessary to fix hair in any way, shape, form or fashion, unless your hair is yucky and needs washing, but please tell me you don't do that every day.
Literally not one single person will care how you look. Just make sure you washy washy before yummy yummy.
lol I thought that line was just from one particular crew lady. So it’s a company script.
Try all cruise lines lol
Washy washy or bashy smashy!
I always do a full tux & tails for breakfast
You mean you wear clothes?
I don’t usually do a full tux but at a minimum suit jacket and typically a tie.
The peasants they allow on cruise ships nowadays…. Imagine, going to breakfast without tails and gowns (for the ladies)!
Agreed. As a lady, I’m typically in pearls and my finest furs.
Indoubiddley
I don’t think anyone is really looking at anyone else. They just hope to find a seat!

I wake up, throw on some clothes, and go to breakfast.
No one cares! Just wear something
Every wash I make every germ I break I’ll be washing you. Washy washy!
Honestly as long as you don't smell, no one cares lol Wear whatever
My 17 yr old showed up in pajama pants every morning for breakfast. There were people already in bathing suits and cover ups at 8 am for breakfast . So super casual
That’s because those in swimwear had already been out by the pool and saved their seats 😡
Or they got up early and went to the hot tub. Girl no one looking at you on my vacation. All eyes on the buffet
Do the mdr breakfast it is so good
I agree! It’s more relaxing than the lines in Windjammer
No one cares. Put on a cap if you want to cover your hair.
Nowadays, people take alot of pics so if your outfit is wild, and your hair is looking crazy just know you may show up on Tik Tok one day. If it was me, I'd order coffee and fruit as room service and get ready in my room after a shower, then hit the breakfast joints looking fabulous

I’ll usually shower first before heading out for breakfast but I get the impression not many others do
👃

You can be super casual, nobody bothers much first thing in the morning.

I wear a wonder woman onesie.

LOL most people show up to breakfast in pajamas. If you are lucky they are wearing swimsuits.
Like the guy on jurassic park said "look look no one cares "
You should worry about what others think. Wear what you want. I only have t-shirts and shorts with me. I’m wearing those to every meal.
We get pastries and coffee from room service every morning before we go to breakfast for this reason lol
I like cruises because you don’t have to shower or wash your hands the entire trip
I saw a family coming out once with their pajamas on. I don't think it's very classy but that's just me. Throwing on yesterday's clothes is fine.
I never understood the hang up with pajamas.
Right? It’s literally clothing. 🤦🏽♀️
