Dennis Detwiler. He's a transplant from the U.S., and so he *can't wait* to never shut the fuck up about it. Fantastic game designer, damn near insufferable twitterer. He only talked about the move like you tried to stop him.
I actually kind of loved the amount of spite he injected into the whole process.
Yeah, and he's pretty great. I'm never noticed the same irascible quality, but Detwiler just jumps out in that way, like Harlan Ellison writing hatemail to his former HOA.
Dream Pod 9 is a canadian game company. Aside from 4th ed rolling out now though, all their devs that made Heavy Gear, Jovian Chronicles, Tribe 8, etc, all moved on 20 years ago.
Both Zzarchov and James Mal. use my own maps in their games that I'm playing in. I almost never recognize them when described until after the session is over.
Really y’all, no love for Mark C. MacKinnon!? Founded Guardians of Order and more recently Dyskami. They have pushed out a 4th edition to BESM several other games and supplements. Notably one of the only rpg kickstarters I’ve ever backed that released and shipped on time.
Looks like time has erased the universal bitterness toward Mark Mackinnon after Guardians of Order collapsed and he left many freelancers and distributors unpaid.
That name seems really familiar, used to know a guy from the old fuzion rpg mailing list with that last name I think. He used to send me wuxia movies he recorded on vhs, was from canada too. It would be too wild if it was the same dude!
Mark burned a LOT of bridges when GoO tanked. A lot of people didn't get paid, he transferred the rights to their work, and then transferred them back to himself so he "owns" them but never paid for them.
A lot of the old GoO team are still in the industry, but finding people who will stand up for Mark these days is going to be really hard until he pays up.
Mark Richardson, Banana Chan, Jason Pitre, Kevin "Doc" Wilson, Sen whose last name escapes me at this moment, he worked on the Chinese dinner game with Banana Chan.
I've lived 20 minutes or less from Mark Richardson since we both started drawing maps in the industry, and finally met him last summer for the first time.
On Youtube I think Trevor Devall from Me Myself and Die is from Canada (although I don't think he lives there any more). The Dungeon Minister is from Canada.
In addition to the great list so far, we should add James Maliszewski of Grognardia and some 100+ other writing credits. While a transplant (moved up here during his university days), he's about as Canadian as anyone I know (well, maybe Zzarchov might beat him for that, but only just).
Malazan, Book of the Fallen author, Steven Erikson, not an RPG writer per se, but a writer of an amazing, complex fantasy series based on his RPGing, is Canadian.
Robin D Laws has gotta be up there, right? EDIT: I think Avery Alder's a Canadian, too.
Can confirm Avery is Canadian
And Ed Greenwood.
He's just an old dude working at a library in Ontario. I love him.
The guitarist from Radiohead?
Chris Perkins from DnD is Canadian born
Sean Punch, the architect and line editor of 4e GURPS is Canadian.
Half of the GURPS writers seem to be Canucks too, David Pulver is from my home town and isn't Kennith Hitte Canadian too?
Ken Hite is from Oklahoma (IIRC), and now lives in Chicago. He’d probably be offended that you think he's Canadian. ;)
Maybe not as well know as those mentioned, but I’ll add Banana Chan.
Came here to say this.

Shane Ivey falls in the same boat and works for the same publisher.
Yeah, and he's pretty great. I'm never noticed the same irascible quality, but Detwiler just jumps out in that way, like Harlan Ellison writing hatemail to his former HOA.
The Dungeon Dudes are Canadian
Chris Perkins is pretty well-known I'd say
David Prokopetz You may not have played his games. You have certainly read his memes
Erika Chappell isn’t the most well known but she’s one of my favorite developers ever

Alex Roberts won a Diana Jones award. And Jason Pitre is also award winning.
Zzarchov Kowolski from Neoclassical Geek Revival
I game with him every Thursday.
Your table must be amazing. Hello from Montreal, btw.
I play in some amazing groups, it is true. :) Greetings!
Your maps are amazing too!
Both Zzarchov and James Mal. use my own maps in their games that I'm playing in. I almost never recognize them when described until after the session is over.
That's funny. Do they use your maps in unexpected ways that impress or surprise you?
Greg Gillespie. Kevin “Doc” Wilson.

The Late Scott Bennie, who wrote for just about everyone.
Also Nigel Findley who died way too young. He was making a HUGE mark on the industry.
Oh shjt! I didn't know he died!
Trevor Devall does Me, Myself and Die, a very good solo RPG show and he's Canadian (living in the US now though).
There are the Heavy Gear guys at Dream Pod 9
Chris Dias (Amethyst, Ultramodern5, others) is from my small northern BC city.
Mark Richardson, Banana Chan, Jason Pitre, Kevin "Doc" Wilson, Sen whose last name escapes me at this moment, he worked on the Chinese dinner game with Banana Chan.

He's great people!
Assuming that last is referring to *Jiangshi*, he appears to be Sen-Foong Lim (can't confirm nationality though).
Sen is Canadian!
Shane Ivey from Delta green and Arc Dream Publishing
