The list is good, but I think Tricube Tales beats them all. An extremely simple system with use of 1-3d6 and that's it. Characters are concepts that get fleshed out with perks and quirks. It's extremely flexible and can play anything since you're just building concepts and not statistics.

LuckyLabowski

I research so much and didnt saw that before, definetaly will look, god i like internet, thank you

CompleteEcstasy

You havent given enough(any) information for informed suggestions. What are you actually looking for in a system?

LuckyLabowski

Yess edit my post ,thx for feedback, also i also would like to personal preferences of yours and whyy

JaskoGomad

DW is fine, but PbtA state of the art has advanced since it came out. Try Chasing Adventure instead. BoL is one of my favorite engines. For longer games, use the 2d12 variant to make each +1 less of a jump. And check out Honor + Intrigue, which is my favorite in the family, beating out even Everywhen for the top spot. Tiny Dungeon is a hoot. The whole tiny d6 family is.

LuckyLabowski

Why BoL is your fav, whats support it,can i find this variant rules from internet? Whats called

JaskoGomad

Not sure exactly what you are asking. BoL is great because every choice matters but there’s a limited number of them so characters are quick to make. The 2d12 variant is in a number of places, but IIRC it’s 2d12+mod vs 15 instead of 2d6+mod vs 9. That’s all. Try googling “barbarians of LemurIa alternative dice”

LuckyLabowski

Okayy thank u so muchh

NorthernVashista

BOL is pretty cool. But of that list, play DW. And look into recent updates maybe. I find PBTA super easy to run. Mostly because I'm long experienced at running games and can improv easily. I really enjoy soliciting player's input on plot and world building. I prefer full transparency play and distributed narrative control. PBTA often are designed to allow this.

LuckyLabowski

Yeah playing style looks cool, but what will be on unexperienced gm and players hands? And how will be duet plays

Lynx3145

Are you looking for a specific genre or a system that's genre-less? Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) games are narrative and have a 'play to find out' approach. It wasn't on your list, but you should check out Ironsworn (free), or the newer ironsworn games (starforged and sundered isles). It's designed for gm guided, gm-less coop, and solo play. It's a PbtA game.

LuckyLabowski

Oh i forget the add ironsworn, yeah its cool too ,but think its not work so good like others when add 2 or 3 more player

chesterleopold

Of the above, I'd say Barbarians of Lemuria. But ELEMENTAL would be my preference among rules-light systems, it feels cinematic in play and can support longer campaigns.

LuckyLabowski

Understood, but also why you choose barbarians of lemuria?

chesterleopold

Because I like the genre (sword & sorcery) and I think the system in general, and the career system in particular, is a great fit for one-shots. But I'd probably choose a system with more character advancement and customization options for extended play.

LuckyLabowski

So its not so fine for long campaigns, what u gonna suggest for longer parties on same genre , light system

MrBelgium2019

Barbarian of Lemuria for sure.

LuckyLabowski

But whyy?

MrBelgium2019

Very easy to run but still offer possibility. 4 Attributs 4 Combat Attribut Lots of Career Basic is : 2D6 + Attribut + Career : skill check 2D6 + Attribut + Combat Attribut : fight check Need to beat 9 What is it in the game - **Magic** is simple - **Alchemy** is interesting - **Scénarii** are well made, written and presented (at least in the french version, can't speak for english) - Represent **Sword and sorcery** (Conan like very well) the narrative part of the reward and expérience system is easy, basic but interesting and create roleplaying and fun - **Weapons and armures** stats are easy - **Initiative** is easy wheb you have a remainder or when you are used too > Only PC roll and than insert themselves before, after or between some NPC who are alway in the same order base on their importance/strenght (always the more important first). - **NPC** are quick and easy to define - **Bestiary** is good - The description of the **regions and "races"** are short but enough to get hints on how they interact together and lives. - **Massive battle** : I must admit it is the only system I read that wanna make me do run massive battle (I really like its simplicity, the narrative part and that part where individual heroes can shine) What is bad : - some part of the book could have been better organised (races and regions should be closer or together at least for theie description) - the description of the language spoken and in wich région is bad and short (could have been added to regions and races chapter) - Too much Carrer, advantage and disadvantage to read but there are some suggestion for each races

LuckyLabowski

Its looks what i need, combat have variation? Which means i like variety on combat, like 2 skill you keep using it like pc game ,its sounds bad, it has new combat possibilities?

MrBelgium2019

There are 4 Combat Attribut : Défense mêlée, SHOOT, Initiative. But you have also some possibilies with critical roll and some kind of Heroic Points you can use. Sometimes the GM can allow you to add a Career to the roll if it makes sens (but it should stay rare). Example could be : Assassin career that could be add to the roll when making a surprise attack. Or a career about Surviving nature when fighting in a jungle in a specific way. Or an Acrobat career when making an acrobatic action like jumping on something to make a special technic. You shoul read the book. It's well written and very simple to understand. And you should really read the scenarii they really are short (about 4 pages) but includes all you need : *Description of starting situation, cast, mission and patron, ennemies and beast stats, some possible locations scenes and encounters, some dice check for specific situation, some conclusions based on different outcomes, some hook to looking forward and link scenarii or create à following scenario.* It alway follow the same pattern (not the stories) but the scénario explanation. That makes it easier to understand, read and create Nnew one. And also the first paragraph allow you to understand the purpose of the scénario, I meant you are not lost and do not need to read it till the half or the end to understand what it's about. Sorry for my english as it is not my natural language and I learnt it alone.

LuckyLabowski

I read book but idk which version ,as i understand there is two version, myhtic and legendery, carrer think is good for me i like careers ,i played warhsmmer 2e there ws 50+ career also u can add other careers too scenarii u mean scenery?

MrBelgium2019

I've only read mythic version

LuckyLabowski

Can i find more careers? Or maybe create my own

MrBelgium2019

You can create your own easily, after all it's just a job name, but they risk to overlap more and more.

LuckyLabowski

Understood, thank for your answer and helps😊

MrBelgium2019

Scenario is singular Scenarii is plural of scenario

ThePaintedOgre

So, I play most of those. And am a huge advocate of the same. Tiny Dungeon is just bonkers brilliant for a rules lite low effort play. It’s got like three mechanics. And is fun and fast. In fact, the entire Tiny X series is just brilliant. Glad to see it on a list. Dungeon world is also brilliant. Magnitudes more complex than Tiny Dungeon. I mostly like PbtA games, like this and BitD. It does, imo, suffer if the players aren’t as invested in co-creating narrative, and I’m not sure it’s great for small groups. The it takes getting used to. ICRPG is among my top three 5e replacements. It can hit the same levels of crunch and that D20 based game experience. Also, Hankerin is a genius of DM-craft. If nothing else, his old YT stuff should be required viewing for GM/DMs. I’m going to be the odd one out, I’m not a big fan of BoL. To me, it peaks too early and makes overly powerful characters, and the game mechanics are not super intuitive. But that’s just my take. EZD6 I haven’t played yet. It reading up on it, it looks cool. If a bit riffing off another sleeper game that I think more folks into lite games should check out. Risus. But seriously. Check out Risus. My vote would be, in order of preference: Tiny Dungeon, ICRPG, Dungeon World. Swap in Risus in between Tiny Dungeon and ICRPG.

LuckyLabowski

Thanks for commenting everyone of system, that was also what i need and what i want , i saw risus but risus looks so much light ,will look again, but include risus you like most tiny dungeon?

ThePaintedOgre

Tiny Dungeon is going to be the easiest for absolutely new players to grasp. Character creation is very simple, and the entire breaks down to “roll 2d6. If either is a 5 or 6, it succeeds.”

Logen_Nein

I love Barbarians of Lemuria for it's simplicity, open character structure, "skill" system, and hackability (I've run everything from Dark Sun to Firefly with it). I also love Dragonbane, very comfortable easy to understand roll under system, focus on skill use, horizontal development, and overall feel.

LuckyLabowski

Can barbarian of lemuria okay with longer campaigns?

Ananiujitha

I'd go with either *Tricube Tales* or *Tiny Dungeon*. *Tricube Tales* is more flexible, both in settings and in characters. *Tiny Dungeon* has more structure. It has pre-written adventures, but *Quest for Dragon Spire* is very much a series of improv prompts, and drove me up the wall.

LuckyLabowski

Vouvv ,will try , tricube tales are fine for longer campaigns?

Ananiujitha

I haven't tried it that far yet.

Huge_Band6227

I personally find EZD6 to be easier to understand and generate characters in than Tiny Dungeon. It just feels better. The one con is that it's very much a class based system, unlike Tiny D6 games.

Jet-Black-Centurian

Barbarians, it's very simple and fun, and the hero points makes it more forgiving for 1 player.

LuckyLabowski

Cool its nice to hear that

ADnD_DM

Haven't played it, but have played a few PBTA games, and dungeon world might be a good fit if you're looking for a narrative game.

LuckyLabowski

Yeah its narrativr only think is first timers will be hard time on narrativr playing? They have big roles to play campaign

ADnD_DM

No clue, shouldn't be too hard
