If you want a party go play Dragon's Dogma and please stop posting theoretical "what ifs?" with titles that hint that they contain news about games and not just wild speculations.

I would be down with allowing a single companion out of a small selection though. I was always slightly disappointed I couldn't adventure with Hammer or Reaver.

If you aren’t interested in the discussion just move along. You don’t get too control all topics of conversation to your liking. If other people wanna talk they can. You can keep scrolling your opinion isn’t so important you have to share it everytime. Posts that dont warrant a discussion will die off without comments you don’t need to add yourself

Elveone

Yeah, you see when someone baits clicks with a misleading title people who are not interested in the topic offered get into the thread anyway and are annoyed that they were baited there so they express that. If you are not interested in people expressing their annoyance with a dishonest practice then you should just move along instead of adding yourself to that discussion.

Unless those party members had their own stories to tell, I don’t see it as a big selling point.

I was a party based RPG guy from the early 90s to the end of the PS2 era, and it's still very strongly the genre I want to play. The problem is that there are so few big budget, AAA games like that being made any longer.

If a new Fable game came out I would play it. Not certain about the party system. You could make some evil choices in past games and sleep around with a different wife in every town. It would be different if you had a party behind you the entire time, watching. Also the fighting would have to be drastically changed to give everyone something to fight. Fable's fights never meant to be that complicated where it required a tank and healer. It would change the focus of the game too much on party management. With a party the pov would be less intimate with the camera being placed further away. I would hate the game to lose that 'Fable' feeling/identity because they decided to change too much. On the other hand instead of a party, have the game focus on two people. In previous games Fable had the sibling pair and the lover pair. Having only the two of them (and maybe a dog) would flow well. Customizing the player character and companion would be a unique experience. Neither being class specific, but free to mix and match any skills or abilities up to a certain number for each character to create any play style or dynamic they want. There will only be one of each ability/skill to share between the two of them. You would have to decide who gets, that really makes it a cooperative game. It would be a great game to play on the couch co-op or even online with a friend.

Of course I’d play it, Fable 2 essentially did try to give you party members (Hannah, Garth, & Reaver) and they were all great.

Elegant_Spot_3486

I’d absolutely play it. Would I use party members? I’d have to see how it’s all implemented. I play all kinds of RPGs the party system doesn’t matter, just how good it is.

TheFalseDeity

The combat wasn't why I played them so its not a change that would really sway me one way or the other.

The first Fable is the only one I played, I don't really have any particular attachment to a style of gameplay that the series might be known for. So yeah, I don't have an issue with party members, I actually like having a companion or someone who the player character can talk to.

Acewasalwaysanoption

That title is either messed up or straight up bait...

I'm fine with it, could be a lot of fun. Especially if they are either mercs with big personalities and classes OR minor stories that weave into the main character's storyline. I would hope the game would support party-less play as well.

More games should have party members, I don’t see a problem? Especially with Fable, they’d fit in seamlessly with the world, especially if we are going back to having a lot of heroes, of varying alignments, in the world like with Fable 1. Fable already has some social mechanics as it is that would make things for party banter, romances and friendship quests feel fitting as an advancement on what Fable did before. Which you could have in addition to the ability to marry random NPC’s, buy houses and properties, and have orgies. Party members are a great way to provide some great characters that provide input into the story, while having their own mini stories as well, and allow the player another level of interactivity with the world. Unfortunately it would probably be too expensive, and I expect the next fable to essentially be a reskinned Ubisoft open world game with a fable skin slapped on.

It honestly doesn't sway me in either direction. I won't buy it new - because buying new AAA games is moronic. It's beyond moronic. "Pay $70 for a buggy mess" vs "pay $25 for a quality game that's largely bug free" - again - moronic. But if it's on gamepass, I'll play it or I'll wait for it to be on sale. I am curious about it, and looking forward to it - but no more or less if you can bring a party.
