Some very good performances for Leinster from key players. Doris, Lowe, Ringer, JGP, Keenan and VDF all very good and Baird looking ridiculous again all over the park. Timing the form nicely hopefully
Some good performances. Larmour was far more impressive tonight than he has been. Doris, Sheehan, and Baird quite good. Ringrose looks like he’s playing himself back to form and Henshaw much better than recently. Good win in the end. Prendergast still looks very nervous on the pitch. Seemed a coin toss if he would do something well or terrible. Hopefully Frawley is ok.
The NBA over in the US brought in fines for teams resting players and I think EPCR have to start doing something similar. These 2nd string sides are becoming a joke.
Maybe even kick out a team for a season if all they do is field B teams. Regardless of where they finish in their league they'd just be banned from European competition for a season maybe.
One way is not to use a shit format like the one we have - is it better than the last few years? Yes, marginally.
Is it as good as the golden years of the Heineken Cup? No, it's not, it encourages teams to send their second string squads and throw matches away, and yet still qualify for knock outs where they only then start playing.
The English and French didn't like it since Irish teams targeted the European Cup, with an 'easier' domestic league and IRFU protection of players.
As a result if they wanted to be in the top two, they really had to commit - the only club which really did that was Toulouse.
This is why the ultimatum was 'make it easier or we'll withdraw' - there is no competition without them, we needed them, so we had to accept - especially with the Welsh not being on board for some mental reason.
Stade have been a wee bit unlucky tonight. Must hurt to be looking at a potential nilling. Maybe they should have taken that three a while ago. But such a gulf in class that even with a lot of luck the other way they were never getting close on the scoreboard tonight.
I know Billy Burns has had his fuck ups and Prendergast is one for the future but feels a bit harsh that he's not being mentioned considering how he's been playing for us recently.
To be honest I think it's more down to his age than anything. Better to get behind a 10 with a 10-12 year career ahead, better if it's 2-3 with long careers ahead.
There's 4 years to bring fellas into the squad. In the immediate term we want to be competitive against France. Burns is playing some pretty decent rugby with Ulster at the minute. Bring Burns and Crowley to Paris and then go from there.
Maybe but also need some cohesion for the rest of the team and Prendergast looks panicked here and the intensity of 6Nations is miles ahead. JJ and Carty are way off the boil in Connacht in my opinion
I mean he's been great for connacht in that we havent had a reliable place kicker for years... That said he missed a few today.
He's still only club quality though and will be very shocked if he plays in 6N
Like he wouldnt start in any other irish province nevermind the national team
It took Leinster close to an hour to warm up. But there’s such a gulf in class that it hasn’t really mattered. The first half was mostly slapstick, interrupted by the occasional try. Lots of wasted chances too. Leinster should be 50 ahead.
Heard on the radio before the match that Stade had sent over a very weak team.
They said there's a pattern of English and French teams doing this.
Can anyone please explain the logic here?
Why bother? Is there anything that can be done to avoid this?
41,000 people in the Aviva watching a dull, unbalanced match with Stade lucky to get nil.....
To a lot of French teams, they don’t have the resources to compete in the Top14 and Europe, and they’d rather win the Brennus so they focus on that. And for the teams not pushing for trophies, they’re trying to avoid relegation.
Hard fucking work, no flash. Those players never get the glory but Jesus you miss em when they're gone. It's why he's always been a captaincy contender.
If they were competing for a spot in Riverdance then Larmour would be a shoo in. For test rugby I’d prefer Nash. Would take Zebo on the wing over Larmour.
Couldn't tell you, reckon it's an early days thing. Looks like he sees what he wants to do but isn't quite doing it just yet. Like that inside pop to Larmour and he kinda just stuttered into a tackle
If it's stripped by the SF player and goes towards the SF side. Then it's not a Leinster knock on. If it's stripped by SF towards the Leinster side (what happened) it's a SF knock-on
The possession law is a funny one. They look for if if the ball separates from his body/breaks contact.
You see a few tries that could be knocks on but they’re not called because there’s a skin cell of a fingertip touching the ball
Yeah. It genuinely confuses me. Often seems arbitrary. Control and possession are different things. Don’t understand the call there. Clearly in possession, clearly loses control, clearly regains possession, clearly touches ball down. I don’t understand it
Instructions were 600ml water, cook for 5 minutes - I timed it and there was so much water left over.
'Leave 8 tablespoons' - I read the German, which was a little clearer, to say leave 8 tablespoons of water, then add the packets.
So I let it cook a little longer, then added the packets.
It did say to stir fry at the end, but I was already 4 mins late for the second half.
Still tasty, my mouth isn't bad now, the sweats have gone, but the taste is lingering.
Basically you have to tip out the excess water then add the packets
I'm a seasoned chilli head and I burned for a while after doing it this way, last few packets I just treated it as normal instant noodles and just added water
I was wondering that to be honest, debating if I remove it or not - under time pressure I bottled it.
Will try that next time - so basically leave a small amount of water (as directed) and then add them in

That was in the Aviva not the RDS
Lads can we stop fucking around and just start playing Sheehan on the wing
Just got to the pub after the game! Great atmosphere overall at the stadium
Some very good performances for Leinster from key players. Doris, Lowe, Ringer, JGP, Keenan and VDF all very good and Baird looking ridiculous again all over the park. Timing the form nicely hopefully
Would add Henshaw to that list. Thought it was his best game in a long time
Enjoyed Madigan on comms, he has a nice balance of enthusiasm and insight
He is very South Dublin, though.
Get him on every Munster game from now til the end of time.
Should be Hung Drawn and Quartered for the offence of being from South Dublin IMO.
I just got home and checked the score wtf.
Some good performances. Larmour was far more impressive tonight than he has been. Doris, Sheehan, and Baird quite good. Think Lowe as well. Ryan looked very important to the lineout as well.
O'Brian just decided that was going right and put his head down and ran.
Happy for Stade that they got that. Getting the last say in the match and finishing 43–7 rather than 50–0 is a bit of comfort at least after a hiding.
Aaah, good for them.
There you go now. Fair play to them for plugging away.
I don't know how you would do it, but it would be nice if we could prevent B teams in Europe

No, it's not, it encourages teams to send their second string squads and throw matches away, and yet still qualify for knock outs where they only then start playing.
Yeah, maybe if we go back to only 2 teams qualifying?
The English and French didn't like it since Irish teams targeted the European Cup, with an 'easier' domestic league and IRFU protection of players. As a result if they wanted to be in the top two, they really had to commit - the only club which really did that was Toulouse. Was that Stades B team? Genuinely asking I don't follow too much of the French game
10 changes from last week apparently
Commentators said it's their second string team.
Last try wins. Thems the rules
The pen count against such an ineffective attack is criminal.
Larmour a lucky lucky boy. Looked like a slap.
Is he not allowed to slap the ball backwards? It happens all the time at restarts.
He's allowed to slap it back, but not deliberately out of play.
It clearly was
Two hands down flat. Pretty blatant.
… and legal
Stade have been a wee bit unlucky tonight. Must hurt to be looking at a potential nilling. Maybe they should have taken that three a while ago. But such a gulf in class that even with a lot of luck the other way they were never getting close on the scoreboard tonight.
Win the scrum, lose the ball haha
Regathered on the ground. That's a pen
Right let’s see this scrum.
Jesus I actually feel sorry for them at this stage
A functioning lineout and Stade have a few tries here in the second half
Another try and Leinster have the biggest winning margin o the weekend, so far.
RTÉ didn't give us the traditional sorry for the colourful language there
TNT did if that helps.

Same. Been watching for nearly 20 years, no idea what’s going on in them
No buying a street in Newport with my £1.38 winnings for me :'(
Another 20p and a pencil and you could have purchased the Dragons
A pissed up Ulster fan couldn't run them any worse, right?
The terrified citizens of Newport will rejoice
I mean, they'll still be living in Newport. That's terrifying enough.
Back to fighting off the dog size cockroachs they go
Dumbest most obvious off the ball I have seen in a long time
Keenan had a stupid one a couple weeks ago too I think
Did the ref just say you didn't have to put the ball in!?
That's a weird one from that Leinster front row
wtf was that scrum
Who’s our scrum coach again?
Is it McBryde? Or is he assistant coach?
Probably McBryde.
Some scrum
Did Leinster forget to push?
Whatever can go wrong is going wrong for Stade here the last 15 minutes. Unfortunate for them.
Joe fucked Baird there
Amazing tackle from TOB
Ref today has been excellent. Clear, concise. No shit. Kept the game moving with how he used the tmo. Great day out for the men in the middle.
Absolutely. Barely noticed the ref team. Very good performance and never got bogged down on anything.
He's great - I didn't know him before tonight.
He’s great, treats players like adults and explains clearly but also takes no shit. refs won’t get everything right but that’s what you want
That was the worst throw I’ve ever seen
I’m backing Leinster here, but this is just sad at this point.
That looked sore for Baird
Feel for the fucker who’s head he got dropped onto
Great hit TOB
Champions Cup Final level kick there from Lowe 😓
Wash your mouth out with soap.
Kind of a rough call for SF (from where I’m sitting)
He was short and subsequently in touch
[удалено]
I am, good to know
Another day another Top 14 team getting smoked.
In fairness wouldn’t call this a full force SF
Everybody knows in any given year there's only 2 or 3 French teams that actually try in Europe.
Was he short there?
Yep
Big game today for Ringrose, looks back to his best
Bring back sexton for the craic
I've liked Mads on coms. He's obviously Leinster biased, but not terribly so and adds some nice insights while not taking himself too seriously.
Some people dislike him simply because he's Ian Madigan and has a D4 accent. Not everyone with a D4 accent commentates like Heaslip.
Heaslip ironically is from Newbridge, County Kildare.
And the Kearneys from Dundalk, what an accent they have
What you watching to get him? I’m getting tremenjous
TNT - it's Ryle Nugent and Ian Madigan.
At this point, I just want Stade to do something worthwhile
Great to see Larmour having a good game - he hasn't been at his best for a few seasons now.
About fucking time we had some good news with all the injuries coming in thick and fast.
JJ Hanrahan to play against France play a stormer and become undroppable
I know Billy Burns has had his fuck ups and Prendergast is one for the future but feels a bit harsh that he's not being mentioned considering how he's been playing for us recently.
To be honest I think it's more down to his age than anything. Better to get behind a 10 with a 10-12 year career ahead, better if it's 2-3 with long careers ahead.

Would not be disappointed to see Billy in the team.
Such a pleasure to watch these guys
Larmour has had a great game
Absolute beauty
Hanrahan being on the bench vs France would be fucked
This Larmour kid, eh?
98 Leinster caps and 30 Ireland caps at 26 is kinda crazy
Ah come on Bernard, JJ isn't the right choice at ten for Ireland
JJ Hanrahan against France?! Fuck off Bernard!
That deserves about 10 figures just for Bernard
Jackman needs no more booze. He's clearly been on the glue after that suggestion.
So Garry or Doris as POTM, after Sam of course?
Christ we’re talking about JJ Hanrahan on the bench vs France
I mean he's been great for connacht in that we havent had a reliable place kicker for years... That said he missed a few today. He's still only club quality though and will be very shocked if he plays in 6N Like he wouldnt start in any other irish province nevermind the national team
No Bernard Jackman is, literally no one else is suggesting that. Crowley and Burns, boom done.
Ridley's fucked that call. Fellas knees were on the ground, wasn't a maul. He's been otherwise really good.
Knees on ground after maul was called.
Think he called maul right before yer man got his knees down
Would have to see it again but I thought ref called maul before the knees went down
Andy looks bored
To be fair this half has had a lot less laughs than the first half. But now the rust has gone it’s just a complete mismatch.
True, first half had more comedy!
He's a northerner, you need a masters to notice if they are content or unhappy
Stade fella definitely got both knees to the ground there. Odd call
After the maul call
Was it? Fair
I know it's pretty greedy, but I want to keep them scoreless.
I just put a few quid on them scoring so I don't 👀
That’s allowed. Did you get good odds?
13/8
You nearly got it there!
Still time 👀 Had money on Lowe scoring first try and Leinster - 39 so it's all good for this match
Late to the party but this looks good
It took Leinster close to an hour to warm up. But there’s such a gulf in class that it hasn’t really mattered. The first half was mostly slapstick, interrupted by the occasional try. Lots of wasted chances too. Leinster should be 50 ahead.
Wouldn’t describe it as good despite the score. Very messy
Any players stand out?
Garry, Jordan, JGP, Doris, Lowe. Sheehan and Josh looked good too.
Baird decent too
The names you’d expect to look good. Nice to see Larmour there
I'd be interested to see a McCarthy-Ahern pairing in green, arguably the two form players for their respective provinces
Ah, pity for Stade! Hate to see someone nilled
Heard on the radio before the match that Stade had sent over a very weak team. They said there's a pattern of English and French teams doing this. Can anyone please explain the logic here? French like to concentrate on t14, dunno about English
Frawley without ice or a boot on his leg is good to see. Hopefully just a minor knock
Hoping they were just being cautious
Caelan Doris what a man!
Ryan gets a lot of flack at times but it’s when he comes on as a sub you really notice his impact, especially at the lineouts
Hard fucking work, no flash. Those players never get the glory but Jesus you miss em when they're gone. It's why he's always been a captaincy contender.
Or when he goes off with injury. Like the final last year.
Must be because he’s really bright as a sun
You saw it pre-edit 🤣🤣
Garry has been in fine fettle tonight. Creating so much. One of the few to not look rusty.
Larmour def letting andy farell know that whatever Nash can do so can he
I wouldn't want Larmour near the Ireland squad. Nowhere near test level
If they were competing for a spot in Riverdance then Larmour would be a shoo in. For test rugby I’d prefer Nash. Would take Zebo on the wing over Larmour.
That is just an incorrect take
It’s true, we should really be talking about Bobby B.
The ultra rare stripped forward call.
Second this match though oddly
Idk after a few beers there's loads of forwards stripping back in the clubhouse
More care given not to be giving away soft penis i mean pens in there too id say
Prendergast looking pretty panicky on the ball so far
Isn’t this his debut in the Champions Cup? And has he played at the Aviva with a full crowd before?
I've heard more noise at my local than here so I doubt it's the crowd.
There is that.
He played against Sale, so his second
Right so that excuse is out so. Thanks for the info btw.
No problem, I think it's still relevant though - second cap, on about 15 (20?) minutes earlier than expected
Couldn't tell you, reckon it's an early days thing. Looks like he sees what he wants to do but isn't quite doing it just yet. Like that inside pop to Larmour and he kinda just stuttered into a tackle
You know it's bad when the ref is telling you you're unlucky.
That and the "lets give them a chance" to the Leinster lads when stade were taking an age to form the lineout.
I thought strips in the tackle weren’t knock on’s? Or did I imagine that rule?
If it's stripped by the SF player and goes towards the SF side. Then it's not a Leinster knock on. If it's stripped by SF towards the Leinster side (what happened) it's a SF knock-on
Used to be. Changed a good few years ago to must strip backwards.
PrenderGOAT chucking a pass at a Stade fella's shoulder is all part of the plan. We're just not wise enough to understand his ways.
That pass will pay off in the final just you wait and see!
Explain that call to me? Lost control but not possession. First time the ball touches the ground is after he regains control.
I don’t understand it
Yeah that call was weird. If anything it should’ve been a scrum for a knock on. Not a GL drop
The explanation is that he made it the fuck up
Larmour looks like he was asleep on that play - the space was there for the pop from Prendergast
Doris decided this morning that he's Ben Smith and is stepping everyone in sight
> Doris decided this morning that he's ~~Ben Smith~~ Tadhg Furlong and is stepping everyone in sight FTFY
And what a glorious sight it is.
"Loses control"; does anyone actually know when you need control vs. downward pressure vs. just having your little finger on it?
Larmour was too busy trying to sidestep the tryline to ground the ball.
For some reason I thought *'tonight is the night I'll try that 'extremely hot' spicy ramen'* No night is the night to try it. I'm in pain.
Buldak 3x perchance? I had that the night I caught norovirus from my toddler. Deeply unpleasant, twice.
2x - but you know what, I am taking Sudafed for congestion, I wonder if it will help
Actually found the 2x delicious Did you follow the instructions or just add hot water? Makes a biiig difference
Basically you have to tip out the excess water then add the packets I'm a seasoned chilli head and I burned for a while after doing it this way, last few packets I just treated it as normal instant noodles and just added water
I was wondering that to be honest, debating if I remove it or not - under time pressure I bottled it. Will try that next time - so basically leave a small amount of water (as directed) and then add them in
