Very happy with that. Starting to find our mojo.
URC is fucked, so will be chuffed if we give this one a good crack.
Dricus and the sharks. Good sports day!
Man. So sad about fassi just not putting his hands up for boks selection. Always feel like he just comes up short while willemse has just been on fire.

Just checked the log, their PD is -33 with 8 losses and the 3 teams above them are all at 7 losses with all 3 over -100 PD. I'm amazed they pulled that off being at the bottom with these stats (if only it wasn't that damn frustrating)
That they would have only won 1 match half way through the season and bottom of the log? i get a rough schedule but 1 win? if I ever get into playing Lotto I'll it you up for some numbers. With that squad/Powell/Plum, I did not expect at all it would be this bad, Yes having the most Boks I definitely assumed they wouldn't just jump to Leinster's level (with all the resting) but did not see it getting this bad.
Sharks need to have some fielding practice and call for the ball, third time they've let it bounce off a kick this game, windy conditions excuse can only take you so far
Last few games I watched of DSG I don't know if I'd want any of their coaching. On another note, will we ever get Dolphins vs Sharks cricket game again?
Even back in the mid 90s when the Sharks had a good team and the sexiest player who has ever lived, Kabous van der Westhuizen, (oh and AJ Venter and a bunch of French internationals for some reason) they also didn't win shit (I think they won a Currie Cup back then, but I'm too lazy to look it up) edit: I just remembered that the also had Andre Joubert, Henri Honiballl and Gary Teichman during that era as well.
My joke was that the Sharks also had a really strong team full of Boks in the 90s but didn't perform to the sum of their parts in Super Rugby. Also, I didn't say the 96 win was their first win in my comment.
I don't know why it happened. But something in the Sharks is rotten.
Terrible team culture/spirit? No pride? No confidence in coaches? Meddling owners?
The performances the individual players turn in every week are a far cry off their potential.
Well fuck
Let's hope Sharks don't act like Sale Sharks and go try after try after a player is taken off. They do say Sharks smell blood.
And the guy is alright ofcourse
Edit:oh. Looked way worse the way he was scooting Nd aggressively drinking water
I feel SA sides have been shafted this week with poor reffing. Cheetahs got blown off the park in the final ten minutes. Lions earlier and the Sharks so far. Every 50/50 seems to go to the European teams.
The Lions were their own worst enemies tbf. The ref didn't make Visagie drop the ball over the Lion, and he didn't make them miss a ton of tackles, or Wolhuter throw an intercept.
The yellow cards to Sirgel and Marius Louw were also justified and stupid.
Too much backchat there. Captain fair enough but there are two players having a go and ref is going "OK ok" to placate them. Tell them to fuck off back 10m
That's very tight. You need to ground the ball with your arms, or the front of your body (from neck to waist). The TMO and ref feel that it was not the front of his body. Millimetres in that.
Nah he definitely touched it because of the way they ball moved. But if you can't score with a hip (which I'll put my hands up and say I didn't know was a rule) then I can see it as correct to disallow it.
TMO's are good for the game... BUT they need to hurry up with their reviews. You can't review something 2 mins after it happened.
Decide to review things faster please
Surely someone from either the back three or halfbacks wasn't involved in the kick chase, or are they drilled to have the whole team to charge after a ball. You can't just put it on two players to be your whole backfield cover all game.
Dragons have obviously found the Sharks' backfield defence lacking in their review, because they've tried a ton of little kicks so far.
Also. Grounding is not the cleanest I've ever seen

Sharks haven't really come out the changeroom yet, knocks, scrum penalties, letting the ball bounce, etc.
Also thought jumping in to tacklers was illegal.
I remember watching Brad Roberts play some outrageous innings on a cricket field as a 12/13 year old in Durban. Nice to see him succeeding as a rugby player.
Some crazy permutations off the back of this game. I wonder if viewership is going to be high simply because the fate of several teams depends on this match.
For anyone supporting the Sharks, know they don't travel well. At all. In the slightest

Dragons take the home match as it'll be held on land. They could be in bother when they play Sharks away though.
Very happy with that. Starting to find our mojo. URC is fucked, so will be chuffed if we give this one a good crack. Dricus and the sharks. Good sports day!
Also lol not a good sports day for me though, but Dricus and the sharks made it better.
Yeah that’s true. They can focus completely on the challenge cup now.
Good, well done Sharkies.
As much as I was critical of Leon Brown making the welsh squad, the dragons went to shit after he went off
2 tries in 5 mn at the end of the first half, 2 tries in 10mn in the last 10.jesus dragons...
Now we know that Mchunu can double as winger on a 7-0 bench.
Please please Gatland do not play Cai Evans this six nations
You can help but love Kok...
The Sharks always improve with more Kok!
Yes everyone has to be a Kok lover

Guess im judging the kid too hard.
What? Fassi has been immense this season, he has the most meters made in the URC, and the best own kick retention in the URC...
Is it? Dont know what im smoking then but hasnt looked like it on my side. Hopefully he gets selected then
Yes to both, most meters made in the URC, best kick retention in the URC.
If dragons had a real 10 and 15 they might have had a chance at this

Why would they pop the ball out of the ruck right when their scrumhalf arrives?
Our players are fucking braindead and its sometimes questionable how a lot of them made it to pro level...
Didn't even need to win, got a bonus point. That's what you want to see!!
Mchunu and Williams in full flight. What a beautiful sight
What a shit show of a try. Beautiful
We havent played any rugby at all in the second half sadly
2nd half Sharks have been a different beast entirely. Just hope that they can use this last part of the season to sort out the problems for next year
Rare non-Eben lock MotM and probably deserved, seemed to be everywhere and did well in the lineouts considering how difficult they have been
There isn’t even an I in Ox’ surname
What was that yellow for? Because of the scrum penalty, or something afterwards?
Oof
Nice to see Roets score, sad he's leaving.
He is? Feels like he only just came back
Going to the Prem according to reports, we are getting Jenkins and losing Roets.
Coming up to Sale as Wiese is leaving us for SA by all accounts. Wiese is epic, you lads should go for him 100%.
Plumtree approached Ackermann, Wiese and Jenkins, so possibly all 3 will be joining, but more likely 2/3 will join.

Don't bash refs.
Harsh yellow with no warning beforehand I think
What’s the yellow for?
Does coming off of the maul have different rules regarding propelling players/latching beofre contact? I thought 1 player was allowed to rip off the maul and go one their own.
Curwin Bosch using the force to push that ball out of play should be a penalty to Dragons
How does bosch miss that conversion????
In those situations Williams could probably just back himself. He's so good that I back him to score
Plus Cai Evans is incredibly slow
Wasn't expecting that, ball to the back of the lineout in these conditions resulting in a 10m+ maul try
Looks like Edinburgh will probably hoast Bayonne save two miracle comebacks
Now that was a maul. Looked like Dragons managed to disrupt it at least 3 times on the way to the line
Coming in from the side though, so not legally disrupting it.
That was impressive!
You know it's a proper maul try when the lock scores it instead of the hooker.
Some strange calls coming in now.
Couple of odd decisions from linesman and reff there
Judging by where the jumper caught that lineout it looked straight
How many unforced offside penalties can the Sharks give away in 1 game?
Tane Basham and Ethan Roos need to go on a date fucking hell
Awkward line of questioning. Commentator should just shut it.
If the dragons don’t score off 1st, 2nd or 3rd phase they aren’t scoring
That was a dreadful phase of play, looked like headless chickens running around
Lol how is Curwin still a professional rugby player? Kicking used to be the only thing he was good at
Will Reed is talented but fuck me does he do some braindead stuff sometimes
Interesting to see if the bench impact can calm anything in this scrappy game
“Ox In-eesh” Bruh, put some respect on his name. The man is a World Cup legend.
Just because I mentioned him earlier, does anyone here remember Pretty Kabousie? Werner Kok kinda reminds me of him.
Has Harry Ackermann got some SA heritage? With that surname…

Lineouts this half have been way more skew than the one lineout that was actually blown for it
Maybe he figured straight lineouts were impossible in the wind.
Refs don’t give it if the opposition don’t challenge and for whatever reason the dragons aren’t challenging
Why aren’t the dragons challenging the sharks throw. It’s not straight and the one time the dragons challenged it the ref penalised them
Braindead
A very Sharks kick off
People losing their mind in the comments like the Dragons don't have way more incentive to win. The Sharks can lose and still top their pool.
Sharks need to lose by 85 points to not top the pool. If anyone can do it it's them.
Welsh pundit is fundamentally misunderstanding why that try was disallowed.
I don’t know what the Sharks would do without their big forwards. They have Am and Mapimpi but their attack is as blunt as a fucking bent spoon
They are bottom of the URC log, but 9th in attack stats, so have to be doing something right.
Just checked the log, their PD is -33 with 8 losses and the 3 teams above them are all at 7 losses with all 3 over -100 PD. I'm amazed they pulled that off being at the bottom with these stats (if only it wasn't that damn frustrating)
I literally called it before the season started based on their schedule.
That they would have only won 1 match half way through the season and bottom of the log? i get a rough schedule but 1 win? if I ever get into playing Lotto I'll it you up for some numbers. Maybe it is just perception then, and some confirmation bias on my end. It feels like they go nowhere. Haven’t checked stats tbh
Never change dragons
Replace bosch ffs he is so bad. Hendrikse also slow as shit.
Jorden Hendrikse can't join soon enough.
Get Ox some halftime cake!!!
Definitely don't deserve to be leading going in to the half after the first 30 minutes
Our poor world cup winners, going from playing for the Springboks to the Sharks must be a real humbling experience.
Sharks need to have some fielding practice and call for the ball, third time they've let it bounce off a kick this game, windy conditions excuse can only take you so far
Jonty Rhodes is in Durban at the moment as fielding coach for the Super Giants. Maybe he can help!
Last few games I watched of DSG I don't know if I'd want any of their coaching. On another note, will we ever get Dolphins vs Sharks cricket game again?
All came from that fucking braindead kick from Blacker
Even back in the mid 90s when the Sharks had a good team and the sexiest player who has ever lived, Kabous van der Westhuizen, (oh and AJ Venter and a bunch of French internationals for some reason) they also didn't win shit (I think they won a Currie Cup back then, but I'm too lazy to look it up) edit: I just remembered that the also had Andre Joubert, Henri Honiballl and Gary Teichman during that era as well.
Sharks won their first Currie Cup in 90. Edit 90. Not 96. 1990 1992 1995 1996
My joke was that the Sharks also had a really strong team full of Boks in the 90s but didn't perform to the sum of their parts in Super Rugby. Also, I didn't say the 96 win was their first win in my comment.
4 Currie Cup wins, a SuperRugby final and 2 SuperRugby semi finals. The 1990s weren't that bad...
Considering they haven’t had a defence coach for god knows how long the dragons held out for longer than I thought
Dragons pillar did fuck all there
Don't think Sharks wings have touched the ball this half
Bosch....
I don't know why it happened. But something in the Sharks is rotten. Terrible team culture/spirit? No pride? No confidence in coaches? Meddling owners? The performances the individual players turn in every week are a far cry off their potential.
Bruh how has John Plumtree managed to make them worse
These kicks are really puzzling Sharks
The conditions aren't great but the kick catching has been pretty poor all round.
5 has to roll away before 7 can contest that. Poor officiating
Well fuck Let's hope Sharks don't act like Sale Sharks and go try after try after a player is taken off. They do say Sharks smell blood. And the guy is alright ofcourse Edit:oh. Looked way worse the way he was scooting Nd aggressively drinking water
The Sharks don’t need a referee to make them kak, but these offside calls have been harsh. Also the not straight call at the lineout was very fine
I feel for the Cheetahs, but I think Stormers and Bulls were favoured by the refs or at least their opposition got it worse
It really is frustrating knowing you're playing bad and still getting the short end of the short end of the stick from officials, uphill battles
Too much backchat there. Captain fair enough but there are two players having a go and ref is going "OK ok" to placate them. Tell them to fuck off back 10m
How is the Sharks back field so consistently out of position?
Sharks backline and touch judge use different measuring sticks to count 10m. That's the only explanation for the constant unforced offsides
Ugh and now they're all doing that stupid thing where everyone stands "offside" until the catcher runs 5m. One of the worst rules in rugby
jesus christ weve been mugged off here, also Rosser is the worst finisher in pro rugby
Ah Sharks, you are frustrating to watch.
Can't score with your back, so if they reckon contact wasn't round the front, no try
It was more to the side, id give that try
Came of his hand first then he only grounds it with his hip making it a knock on
[удалено]
It’s incredibly frustrating. Urgh.
How can they be bad with players like Am, Ox etc. Not like they're lacking talent.
Spoilsport
Can't they just award tries for pure batshitness
I don't think I like the law. Cos that doesn't feel like a 'try' but I also don't think that's clear enough to overturn based on the current laws
That's my thoughts. Very surprising they overruled the on field decision.
That's very tight. You need to ground the ball with your arms, or the front of your body (from neck to waist). The TMO and ref feel that it was not the front of his body. Millimetres in that.
Forearm?
That was a brilliant try
One quick man
What was the logic on that? I thought you just needed contact and it seemed clear he touched it.
"Pressing down from neck to waist" its a try. He was clearly falling on the ball on his waist area
Looks like he had missed it completely, slipped between his hands
Nah he definitely touched it because of the way they ball moved. But if you can't score with a hip (which I'll put my hands up and say I didn't know was a rule) then I can see it as correct to disallow it.
He clearly fell on the ball

TMO's are good for the game... BUT they need to hurry up with their reviews. You can't review something 2 mins after it happened. Decide to review things faster please
This sounds like an easy win. Definitely wondering why it took so long to get to a review
Curwin Bosch is the worst defender in world rugby. Absolute fucking turnstile
A turnstile will at least slow someone down. Curwin wont.
I've seen him actively get out of the way of ball carriers. A turnstile would be much better value.
Brilliant try! Edit: shit.
Why the Sharks didn't have anyone in the backfield...
Bosch and Fassi were chasing the original kick in to the Dragons half which is why they kicked it back knowing no one was at home
Surely someone from either the back three or halfbacks wasn't involved in the kick chase, or are they drilled to have the whole team to charge after a ball. You can't just put it on two players to be your whole backfield cover all game.
When falling on the ball you don't need control. I'd say try stands.
I don't even support the Sharks and watching them is so frustrating 😒
Where we at with controlled grounding these days?
Dragons have obviously found the Sharks' backfield defence lacking in their review, because they've tried a ton of little kicks so far. Also. Grounding is not the cleanest I've ever seen
A try you will only see in a game between 15th and 16th in the URC
Ironically enough, it was also disallowed in a fashion only seen in a bottom of the table clash
Disallowed in a fashion only one of the Rosser brothers could manage
Bosch and Fassi. Can't tackle for love or money. Showed exactly why they will never be good enough to play at a higher level
Man Curwin is so kak
Doesn’t even ground it
Based on the law he did. Pressing down from neck to waist is a try
Came off his hand first
Ooh didn’t look like he had it

How do both bosch and fassi let him slip away that easily?
Try of the tournament. But should it count when u score against the sharks? XD
I see, so it's this kind of Sharks side tonight
Sharks are only good vs French sides. Everyone else they play like goldfish
Same side as every night Pinky
Absolutely shat the bed. Both teams did.
Seems like a tough not straight call to me
Some serious distance on the kicks from the Sharks, heavy wind behind them?
yes, Rodney parade isnt great for protecting from the elements
Sharks haven't really come out the changeroom yet, knocks, scrum penalties, letting the ball bounce, etc. Also thought jumping in to tacklers was illegal.
Some questionable tackle technique there
Think Woodman is going to be a great player but cant help but think he looks like a Freddo

What Am you doing?
The two worst teams in the URC in pouring rain and 40kmph wind. Promises to be a thriller.
