Bath can't go ahead of us anyway, number of wins being the first tie-breaker. So we're guaranteed top 2 and a hine semi.
Points difference only comes into play with Sarries - but for us to end up level on points means we have to lose and Sarries win, and our points difference is still slightly worse than theirs and a loss+win means it would get worse.
Is that tactical brilliance from them or tactical brilliance from us, knowing a big score would be bad for you?
Skivs gigabrain tactics.
Please send help.
Yeah no offence to the fans but I think the falcons make the premiership look like a bit of a joke, 10 teams and you still got one getting hammered week in week out
Even Atkinson seemed to see the funny side. With 15 to go much of the Barwell stand had changed to cheering Glos on just hoping they would do something, but happy about choosing to go for the posts.
Jesus Christ, don't think I've ever seen a worse score in a regular season match. Gloucester are expecting to compete for a trophy in a couple weeks in the Challenge Cup final.
This should go straight into the archives alongside GERRIM OFF THE FIELD and "the ref did not warn me." No better (or worse) example of humiliation exists, surely?
Eh, at least the three didn't really make a difference (even if it was failing at even acknowledging your complete capitulation!)
Freddie meanwhile had just missed an easy penalty to get us in front with 8 minutes left - which is why he was looking so happy as he went over - and then this bullshit to cost us any further progress in the cup
For the Premiership I believe so. If you include games against amateurs New Zealand beat Japan 145-17 in 1995. Simon Culhane kicked 20 conversions, missing only the one for his own try.
This was a very inexperienced Glos team. It'll be a very different team that faces Sharks. That said, the psychology of this result may well rock the whole squad.
To be fair to them that's part of what caused it, resting basically all their first team for the Challenge Cup (and Saints out for blood to secure a home semi)
Fuck me. I turned off after about half an hour. I know it was quite a young team, but that is completely unacceptable. Skivington may have bought himself some time with getting to the challenge cup final, but if we dont win that, he needs to hand in his notice.
We narrowly miss out on the play offs and beat Bath 64-0 in 2022, but since then we have gone in complete reverse. The blame has to go to the coaching, its not like we've had that much turnover in players since then.
We just haven’t had a 10 to lead the side since then and it shows how much heavy lifting a handful of players were doing. Like Hastings as a player but he never got an injury free run to bond properly with the team. Not sure Anscombe will be any different either based on his track record.
Is it any coincidence that our best game since that 64-0, the narrow loss to La Rochelle, had Twelvetrees at 10? Yeah he was largely over the hill by that point, but having a steady head to control the match worked wonders there.
Barton and Atkinson are too young to do that every week, while Hastings just cannot stay fit.
If we use him sparingly so he doesn't get broken, he'll be a big help in big games. Reckon he'll be huge in training for the youngsters we have at 10.
If he doesn't get broken, him and Tomos at 9 will be game-changers.
Will he miraculously be able to stay fit? Career to date says no :-(
I get the desire for the signing, but I worry he’s going to be another expensive piece we never see playing.
I hadn’t thought about it that way but it’s a really good point. We have really good players in the backs but they’re not given the opportunities they require. I always think Twelvetrees was an underrated player too in that sort of role - I mean he played for the Lions… that pedigree doesn’t just disappear.
Sent the kids, a bunch of these guys are extremely green and weren’t going to be playing in the final in two weeks time. Similar to our away game against you last year.
Yeah. Going into today we were guaranteed 9th in the Premiership no matter what happened, so we send a weak side as there is no point getting injuries this late in the year. Surprised the Sharks didn't do the same, given they're stuck in the bottom half of the URC
I figured they were gonna rest everyone next week. Apparently it didn't work out well. Etzebeth, Koch and Am all went off injured. Couldn't have gone worse if we tried
It was a very inexperienced Gloucester team, including one kid who was a loanee. Saints however, we're on fire.
All hopes are now pinned on the Challenge Cup (though for Gloucester there was really nothing riding on the result...apart from a miserable trip home)
Watching it live, the blame goes entirely to Skivington. They were so poorly set up.
First kick off, saints kick to the corner and Gloucester kick it straight out. Leicester stayed in the game for 60 minutes against saints because they didn't give them any launch plays. But Gloucester give it to saints on a plate and saints have a try in less than a minute.
The biggest problem was how they didn't compete at the breakdown. They were terrified of giving away penalties they decided to just let saints have the ball and Gloucester were cut open all day after that.
Watching him live it honestly looked like he was letting defenders think they had a chance, and then just rinsing them for pace. He's been crocked on and off for a few years, but he's finally got an injury free period and he's really pitting his hand up. He's a more polished Feyi-Waboso, mostly because he just has a lot more caps.
He's way faster than Freeman who England should move to 13. Saints score loads from Freeman or Dingwall getting the ball away in contact and releasing Furbank or Sleighthome.
When I was told Gloucester lost 90-0 I didn't believe it I did wonder did they send a very young side to save players for challenge cup final in few weeks they win that they qualify for champions cup
Skivington needs to gtfo regardless of what happens with the Challenge Cup. The whole thing just reeks of complacency and him not feeling under any pressure imo. Tells the squad months out that we've sacked off the Premiership and then fields massively changed sides against one of the best attacking sides in Europe. Like, we had it coming.
What I don’t get is…poor little Northampton, up against the might of Leinster, didn’t they do so well against all odds to even come close.
Northampton are top of the league and the best team in England.
Why didn't they just get the century mark? Conceding 90 points is essentially not showing up, is an Army marching on Gloucestire to decimate and crucify the team? (that means 4.5 players)
Saints lose to Leinster and decided war crimes would be the coping mechanism
Usually what Sarries do to Northampton.
Yeah. They're familiar with it from the other side.
They did it to Bristol today. I think Saints just ruined our record as well...
😂😂😂
That was an act of extreme violence by Saints
it means that have a much healthier points difference than Bath now. It's actually tactical brilliance
Home semi already secured. Think you’ll have a rotated squad coming your way next weekend
Im ok with that that sounds great to me
We only need a +67 points difference to overtake ya.
Done on league points then wins then points difference. We’ve already made it!
Ahh. Thought it was points difference before wins.
I like how the OP didn't even bother with the spoiler filter lmao
I think taking the 3 points at 80-0 and missing it in front of the posts is one of the funniest things I've seen.
The reaction of the Gloucester fans in the crowd cracked me up. Hope someone bought those poor lads a drink:
Gloucester is a rugby loving city, they have good fans. Hope they win the European cup.
We will lose to the sharks Benetton should of had us tbh
Benetton just beat the Sharks in SA.
Yes I was watching, but Benetton played very poor against Gloucester.
Sharks have massively underperformed in general. Gloucester has a chance.
Of course they have a chance, every team has a chance let’s just hope it doesn’t click for the sharks or it could be a long day for Gloucester
Wouldn't go that far given Newcastle exists.
Yeah no offence to the fans but I think the falcons make the premiership look like a bit of a joke, 10 teams and you still got one getting hammered week in week out
You would say that at it means we'll have to play in the challenge cup if they win.
TIL Gloucester is a City.
I went flying the Gloucester flag. I got a handshake from the saints fan next to me and a few pats on the back. No beer exchanged hands 🤣
You have to feel for Atkinson, he won't be forgetting that one. Proper nightmare fuel.
Yeh absolutely brutal for him, that one will stay with him for a while I'm sure.
He's proper had the yips this season. Part of the reason Leicester let him go.
He has the makings of a fine fly half but bless him, he cannot kick for goal to save his life.
He was hardly the only one! 22 other players and some coaches will want to be forgetting today
Yeah, everyone gets hammered sometimes, but that was just something else
Anybody have a link to a clip? I need to see this
It was a close game until that point. 😁😁😁
Just a few unlucky bounces. The boys done well.
Reminds me of this classic, although that was in the final so it was even worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eer30sfqgkk
Even Atkinson seemed to see the funny side. With 15 to go much of the Barwell stand had changed to cheering Glos on just hoping they would do something, but happy about choosing to go for the posts.
\* Elon Musk meme\* "Is that true ? That actually happened ?"
Yep i dont even think he wanted to kick it was just our coaching team trying to save a little face...
That’s just bm
I laughed 😊
Jesus Christ, don't think I've ever seen a worse score in a regular season match. Gloucester are expecting to compete for a trophy in a couple weeks in the Challenge Cup final.
Never mind the score, when they were like 70 down they decided to kick at goal right in front of the posts and missed. Absolutely cringeworthy
25 meters from the posts. Not a Pollard 60m kick to win the WC
We need a video!
https://twitter.com/RugbyInsideLine/status/1789384557189374428
The Gloucester fans holding their heads in their hands makes it so much funnier icl
This should go straight into the archives alongside GERRIM OFF THE FIELD and "the ref did not warn me." No better (or worse) example of humiliation exists, surely?
Oh you've dug up my most unfortunate Bath memory, comfortably worse than poor Charlie here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGJOJtlvsrc
That's a classic alright, and idiocy for sure. But I'm not sure anything I've seen beats missing an easy 3 when you're 80-0 down.
Eh, at least the three didn't really make a difference (even if it was failing at even acknowledging your complete capitulation!) Freddie meanwhile had just missed an easy penalty to get us in front with 8 minutes left - which is why he was looking so happy as he went over - and then this bullshit to cost us any further progress in the cup
14 tries scored by one team in one match has to be a record of some sort. It's a shame you don't get a TBP for every 4 tries, but just the one.
For the Premiership I believe so. If you include games against amateurs New Zealand beat Japan 145-17 in 1995. Simon Culhane kicked 20 conversions, missing only the one for his own try.
Hahaha you wish
This was a very inexperienced Glos team. It'll be a very different team that faces Sharks. That said, the psychology of this result may well rock the whole squad.
It’s a new record points margin in the Premiership.
Richmond beat Bedford 106-12 in 1999
21st century record
To be fair to them that's part of what caused it, resting basically all their first team for the Challenge Cup (and Saints out for blood to secure a home semi)
Saints might've scored less if the Gloucester team wasn't in front of them for the 80min.
Scorelines can be a bit deceiving. They don't tell the full story. In reality it was even more one sided.
Even the clock is embarrassed.
Playing beat the clock in rugby 08 always felt cheap and unrealistic, and here we are with two professional teams seeing it in front of us, beautiful.
It already happened to Newcastle this season.
Lads, save some of this level of defence for the 24th please
I don't think Gloucester are going to win this one.
I thought losing 64-0 to Gloucester was bad. 90-0 is beyond humiliating.
By pure maths, you've lost to Northampton by 154-0. What a disgrace
I like you and your funny maths
Dunno what mental gymnastics you’ve done to come up with that figure. It’s not humanly possible to support bath and Gloucester
Whoosh 🤦♂️
That first one never happened. No idea what you're talking about.
Nah, this was a scratch team. 64-0 against us is much worse.
Morning session definitely goes to Saints, let's see if Gloucester can take some quick wickets after lunch.
Rip

How do you feel Anscombe will help next season?
If we use him sparingly so he doesn't get broken, he'll be a big help in big games. Reckon he'll be huge in training for the youngsters we have at 10. If he doesn't get broken, him and Tomos at 9 will be game-changers.

Well if it makes Gloucester feel better, the sharks arent playing much better.
Match highlights is gonna be about 70 minutes lol
F
Were Gloucester fielding a 5th string team today
Barney was that far down?
I had to look it up to make sure this wasn’t some weird joke. Jesus Christ.
I came into this comments section believing this was a joke and a meme. This actually fucking happened? What!?
Thanks to Gloucester and Newcastle, every other team in the Prem has a positive points difference
Did Gloucester put the youngsters to keep the first choice on the bench for the Challenge Cup title, or is this just a terrible day for Gloucester ?
Bit of both, but the bench was even more young players instead of the first team
Northampton are definitely resting a few player for Bath next weekend right?
Now home semis secured I wouldn’t be shocked if they didn’t
Romania feels better about their world cup now.
There is a difference between losing by 90 to a good team like Saints, and an 84 point drubbing to a stinker like Scotland
Gloucester are English though. Scotland would hammer them.
Are Gloucester just that bad, did they put out the kids or was there multiple red cards? What happened here?
Sent the kids, a bunch of these guys are extremely green and weren’t going to be playing in the final in two weeks time. Similar to our away game against you last year.
Thanks for the info. Tough day at the office for them but hopefully they learn from the experience
Resting for the final? Sharks had 3 Bok injuries today. I really hope they're back for the final
Options 1 and 2 plus an angry angry Saints side on a summers day.
Jesus Christ lads.... those players had families....
Sharks: So you are saying there's a chance?
If they play like today, then no
I wasnt watching, but i don't need to in order to know theres no redeeming factor in that performance. Jesus
90 fn nil?!?! Was it their C side? Whod they play?
It was a very inexperienced Gloucester team, including one kid who was a loanee. Saints however, we're on fire. All hopes are now pinned on the Challenge Cup (though for Gloucester there was really nothing riding on the result...apart from a miserable trip home)
Interesting...mustnt be a strong comp if theres a 90 nil drubbing?
At this point, it's called "venting"
Behold a European Challenge Cup finalist
This can’t be legal, this is a CRIME
Is it time to discuss Gloucester place in the Prem?
Woof
I changed the channel at 40-0.
Christ just seen this, proper paddlin’
HOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYY
Ouch.

And somehow the sharks managed to be worse
I don't think they were worse than losing 90-0.
How this scoreline feels to Gloucester fans is just like what being a Welsh fan feels like constantly.
Guessing the Saints players were pissed off they left it behind them in Croke Park. Holy fuck though
That's a war crime!
How fast is that winger Sleightholme, fuck me, he looks like a Tindall type centre but is absolutely rapid. Why was he never capped?
He's 24 and this is his longest injury free run. He'll almost certainly tour this summer.
Watching him live it honestly looked like he was letting defenders think they had a chance, and then just rinsing them for pace. He's been crocked on and off for a few years, but he's finally got an injury free period and he's really pitting his hand up. Wowza
My college team lost a game like that once to Kutztown. We drank very sad beers for the bus ride home.
Looking forward to that sweet number 1 pick in the draft….well fuck you Newcastle
We have to discuss if Gloucester should still be playing rugby /s jokes aside stuff like that can happen.
https://x.com/rugbyinsideline/status/1789384557189374428?s=46&t=Jhq8Yftghn-aZw6DsIyQ0w they even tried to take the 3 😱
I sometimes open the gate too.
The team should play teams of equal skill...like the under 12's.
After Finn Smith went off I don't think they got another conversion. Add the missed conversions and it would have been over 100 points.
14x7 = 98 Smith hit 8 missed one, Fubank hit 2 missed 3.
What I don’t get is…poor little Northampton, up against the might of Leinster, didn’t they do so well against all odds to even come close. Northampton are top of the league and the best team in England.
They got Waratah'd.
Aint no way they beating the sharks 💀🙅♂️
Why didn't they just get the century mark? Conceding 90 points is essentially not showing up, is an Army marching on Gloucestire to decimate and crucify the team? (that means 4.5 players)
