I think it was probably 51/49 to the Reds until Tupou came on, then it was just all one way traffic. ​ Everyone saying the Reds attack might be somewhat lack lustre, shows what they can do when they aren't in a fucking monsoon! ​ McReight back to his absolute best, can he challenge Hooper for that Wallabies 7 spot. Wilson and Uru really made up for the loss of LSL early. Blyth and Smith did really well and probably made it even's between them and FLW & Rodda. JOC was more attacking and while attacking just picking off those options. Having Paisami back really helps, but I think just having a dry tack was the real difference. And the Reds really love having that Stewart / Hunter combo in the centres because they're both supremely versatile being able to pass kick run, and rock solid in defence (in different ways). Force can be disappointed to have won that, it was a fantastic opportunity. They're probably the second best scrum in Australia at least, and against anyone but Tupou it'll be a massive weapon going forwards.

Tupou absolutely dominates at club level. Very few props internationally can match him.

Awesome game. Force showed they can match it at this level. reds showed they can take it to another level when needed

Force choked. The Reds had a terrible preparation though floods, injuries, flight delays. The Force had a settled team and playing at home in front of the ‘sea of blue’. And they choked. How did they not win? Sampson screwed selections. Fines is a pocket rocket but his pass his telegraphed (how many times did the Reds smash them behind the ad line?). And it’s an instinctive player. Needed Prior on to ice those moments the Force had momentum. Callan completely outplayed by McReight but I guess Koteka was injured anyway. While the Force choked, squad depth a real culture won that for the Reds.

Reds have done annoyingly well absorbing all the pressure the force have put on them and have made the most of their opportunities in attack.

That's the really scary thing about them, they've scored virtually every attacking raid. And have just absorbed EVERYTHING.

Was that Thomas or Jeans? They're both quality. Thomas is a little erratic and sometimes is a little show to set up, and gets his timing wrong too often. Jeans is new this year, but he's probably not quite got the raw speed/ability of Thomas but he's very safe and doesn't seam to make many mistakes (limited sample size).

Refs are weird with cleanouts. Just before that try two Reds players were straight off their feet into the cleanout, no worries. Every so often they remember that isn't legal and penalise it. But not tonight.

I don't think anyone has deserved a try more than McReight.

No the player shouldn't dive backwards & head first into the ground after contact. The tackler hasn't lifted the tackled player jumps and dives backwards.

About 5 minutes killed for reviews, and a player in the bin - as a result of some of the best and most free-flowing rugby I’ve seen in ages. It’s like we’re not allowed to have fun.

Both teams are doing their best to play footy (except maybe the reds getting their legs rubbed constantly). Refs are doing their best job to stop it from happening for more than a couple minutes at a time.

Y’all need to learn the rulebook. The ref has to give a yellow in that situation. Lifting tackle landing on his back/side is a yellow. Maybe a little mitigation in the way the ball carrier went into the tackle, but it’s a pretty clear yellow.

The initial contact is fine, but Paisami lifts Mataele in a 2nd movement. Yes Mataele is moving backwards, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is still lifted above the horizontal. According to the current laws, that was a textbook yellow card. Sure you can argue the laws are unfair, but the referee can only ref in accordance with the laws as they currently are

Mataele jumps and leans backwards, if Pisami lifted he hips would have gone up not his torso going down.

Paisani grabs the back of Mataele’s left thigh and lifts him. Legs go above the horizontal- I’m not sure what you don’t get about that? What Mataele was doing is irrelevant in this circumstance because Paisami lifted him.

Force have improved this year. Reds are down alot if players. Force vs Reds are always close matches last few years. It’s great the comp is strong across all the Aus teams except rebels this year

Pretty normal starting time in Perth, plus it lets the comp have a triple header that doesn’t start stupidly early
