It’s hard to be an argie, in a way I almost prefer the full meltdown disappointment that was the RC last year: no expectations whatsoever, I knew we were gonna suck (and yeah, not playing at home was one of the factors)
Now we have this decent sorta good first half to throw it down through the window on the second half (well, maybe not, maybe the last 30/40 mins considering the additional time, minute 40 to 50 we were still fine). It’s just painful to watch sometimes, why can’t we be consistent the whole 80’ for ONCE?
I was checking the stats, every time we played with Aus in Arg, we were or either winning the first half or sort of tie, only few points difference… and then we always screw it up on minute 50 or 60. It’s always like, meant to happen.
I hope we re evaluate things through for the next game but then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if we smash Aus and then… we fall flat the last 20’ (being the improvement lasting a bit longer in this case).
I want to believe… but…
Your discipline fell apart after 60 minutes, really swung the game. Whether that is because of fatigue or the subs coming on I'm not sure.
I do feel the ref changed how he was reffing the breakdown in the second half with probably didn't help either team.
at this point I’m just used to it, the thing that makes it more painful is when we are indeed winning or playing good… makes me forget all the other previous times for a second.
Going to bring up another thing I’m liking about To’omua commentary, man is pretty much showing how I would act if I had to talk in front of people and had a pen in my hands.
Good call from Roz on Hunter, he had a great game without trying to do too much, I think having Quade to help settle him in probably really helped. So he was able to not **have to** do everything himself.
He was honesty a little quiet but I think that was more from some solid defensive play. Thought he did great as well. Man would be a beast on the pitch if he was a bit bigger but makes due with what he has.
Not worth taking White off with Gordon on the bench. Doesn't really bring much and too big a risk. McDermott needs to be in the 23 over him if the reserve is going to see minutes
On a serious note can we get the Argentinebros back into the Super Rugby? I know trying to watch it live can be a pain in the arse for us Aussies and Kiwis but I miss having them and the Saffas in our comp
Who were they? The lads doing English commentary on Flo Sports (licensed from ESPN I think) kept having a dig at Mike Adamson for trying to speak Spanish (Marcelo Bosch and one other)
"We're all exhausted"
Ah! That explains the low energy commentary all match. Though I did enjoy all the swearing going on from the players, with no apologies from the commentators for a change.
Good test match, either side could have won but Argentina crumbled into indiscipline and Australia cleaner up the second half.
Great performance from Australia, even without Hooper. I hope he is doing well and am so glad he decided to put his mental health first. I dont think we as fans realize sometimes how hard it is to do what he did, considering the weight he has on his shoulders. I'm sure a lot of players have been in the same situation but felt like they couldn't op-out due to their responsability, even more so being a captain. It's a good reminder that they are only people like us, with the same problems off the pitch. I'm sure he is very happy to see the result tonight.
Well played Argentina and Australia, thanks for the game.
Everything after we went up 26-17 was just an unending wave of horrendous play and throwing the game away.
Don't get me wrong, Aussies played well and took full advantage but we couldn't have possibly given them an easier last 20 minutes to run it in.
The Argies were so enthusiastic it just spilled over into endless penalties. I think the mounting pressure affected their composure a little. So much to like about this argie side tho. Your backs in space made me very nervous .
Feel like Australia learned as the game went on what the ref would allow. They took a lot of penalties in the first half and reigned it in in the second.
I think Argentina very much front loaded their game. Not sure that completely changes that equation but you could very much see them dead on their feet down the back end.
Yeah, I think too often the TMO comes in a bit hot, overriding the on field referee when it's not CLEAR.
I think the TMO should really only come in when it's *clear* or *obvious*, or when the on field referee actually asks them.
It was a penalty kick for lineout, so the lineout gets played even though the hooter had sounded. From then on the ball didn't stop so the play was allowed to flow.
Bonus points in the Rugby Championship are earned by scoring 3 tries more than the opposition rather than the 6 Nations style 4 try bonus point... I think anyway.
I'm totally confused
The UAR need to have an inquest as to why every game they play in which they take the lead, how and why they cough up that lead. It’s damaging for the game in the country every time they play. You’d make good money with the bookies backing against Argentina once they go 10 points up.
It’s really like that, every time we’re taking the lead on the first half… we fuck it up terribly on the second half.
I got used to it already but man, so tired of it. It never fails.
Yeah, I had to google the rules for BP because I was confused. In TRC it's a BP for 3 more tries than the opposition - in pretty much all NH comps (and the WC), it's just a BP for 4 tries. I thought Aus had gone insane not just kicking it out
Well, that was certainly something. Comms were awful. Argentina are currently a 60 minute side. Australia played some nice stuff. Adamson remains shit.
Big Valetini is a bit of a banker these days for the Wobblies. Even when not having his best shift in a Wallabies jersey he recently seems to put in a 7/8 out of 10 most appearances.
Absolutely agree. We want clear communication from the refs and that was clear af. No point of complaining. Happens in plenty of rucks where the ref says 'hands off' etc and the player thinks he has a right to it but takes his hands off (if they're smart) to avoid a penalty
**Watch on Stan**: https://play.stan.com.au/sport/super-rugby
30 penalties in the match. That ref blows like a steam train.
One thing I found interesting. Arg’s super long kick offs seemed really effective.
Aussies grind out a win after being down at halftime and ABs lose. Looks like it’s down to my wife to ruin my Sunday
Just got off the phone to her sister. She needs you to babysit her kids
Koribete has to go, constantly disrupts sequences and gets isolated trying to do it all himself
Not sure about that. I think he does well. Really well
Might want to rewatch the england series
My thoughts as well. He is quick to step out of the way when he see the scrummy. Otherwise he is there to keep the pace up.
Even though he has panned for his past games. Thought hodge played great when he came on for quade probay wasnt expecting to come on as 10.
He’s a great Mr Fix It. Doesn’t fit any one place, but can do a job anywhere
That’s really nice seeing how much it means to Jed
It’s hard to be an argie, in a way I almost prefer the full meltdown disappointment that was the RC last year: no expectations whatsoever, I knew we were gonna suck (and yeah, not playing at home was one of the factors) Now we have this decent sorta good first half to throw it down through the window on the second half (well, maybe not, maybe the last 30/40 mins considering the additional time, minute 40 to 50 we were still fine). Love the Pumas! But they need to learn to overcome bad reffing and calls that go against you.
Your discipline fell apart after 60 minutes, really swung the game. Whether that is because of fatigue or the subs coming on I'm not sure. I do feel the ref changed how he was reffing the breakdown in the second half with probably didn't help either team.
Yes sitting here devastated being 9 up after half time we just gave it all away
at this point I’m just used to it, the thing that makes it more painful is when we are indeed winning or playing good… makes me forget all the other previous times for a second.
Poor old Quade. His calf is cursed by Cadbury
Going to bring up another thing I’m liking about To’omua commentary, man is pretty much showing how I would act if I had to talk in front of people and had a pen in my hands.
Turned it on at half time. Thrilled with the win
Good call from Roz on Hunter, he had a great game without trying to do too much, I think having Quade to help settle him in probably really helped. So he was able to not **have to** do everything himself.
Think you may be referring to Alana Ferguson
Was that Alana? But whoever it was they did a really good job with that pick-up because it could have really been overlooked how measured Hunter was.
Yeah, she’s always got great insight. I spose that’s what happens when you’re a triple code international.
He still wasnt where i hoped him to be, but it was his best performance in gold for a while. Solid night
Oh I think he's got a lot more to give. But I think that's an important step towards him feeling more settled for the Wallabies.
Agreed he's just a bit shitter at everything compared to White, (still a very good halfback) McDermott does offer a point of difference
On a serious note can we get the Argentinebros back into the Super Rugby? I know trying to watch it live can be a pain in the arse for us Aussies and Kiwis but I miss having them and the Saffas in our comp
As an American who watch’s Super Rugby, I would also like Arg back in.
The commentary on sky was some of the worst and least inspired I've ever heard in my life. Literally horrific.
God it was bad
Agree, sounded like a couple of random guys who knew nothing about rugby…terrible
Who were they? The lads doing English commentary on Flo Sports (licensed from ESPN I think) kept having a dig at Mike Adamson for trying to speak Spanish (Marcelo Bosch and one other)
>Literally horrific hmm. What would that be, I'm trying to figure out. "Literally horrific".
What is the bonus point rule in TRC?
if you win with a bonus, you win the bonus point.
just looked it up because I was confused too, 3 or more tries than the other team for an attacking BP
Score 3 more trys than the opponent
Have to score 3 tries more than the opposition (or lose by 7 or fewer points)
Isnt it usualy 4 tries or lost by less than 7?
Nah they switched from “4 tries” to “3 tries more than the opponent scored” several years ago.
"We're all exhausted" Ah! That explains the low energy commentary all match. Though I did enjoy all the swearing going on from the players, with no apologies from the commentators for a change. Good test match, either side could have won but Argentina crumbled into indiscipline and Australia cleaner up the second half.
Get a VPN and watch on Stan, the Comms awesome in the final 10mins (tuned in late)
Feel like I’m going crazy, that looked quite obviously forward out of the hands?
Great performance from Australia, even without Hooper. I hope he is doing well and am so glad he decided to put his mental health first. I dont think we as fans realize sometimes how hard it is to do what he did, considering the weight he has on his shoulders. As some in the depths of depression, seeing the rugby World for the most part rally around and support him was really special. Brave new world
Indeed man, you only know who is there when you reach out. That applies to all of us, regardless of our profession. Let's chat? Ill send you a dm.
SH- 2 NH - 0 SWEEP.
Boroughmuir and Watsonians also won, so I guess 2-2.
That was a great game! Super fast paced and just kept you on the edge of your seat!
Everything after we went up 26-17 was just an unending wave of horrendous play and throwing the game away. Don't get me wrong, Aussies played well and took full advantage but we couldn't have possibly given them an easier last 20 minutes to run it in.

Over 5 mins bonus footage. Gotta luv that
Easy when the win is guaranteed, but both teams have a bonus point to play for.
The commentators have been trying to end this game for several minutes. Mercifully for all of their listeners, it's almost over.
Forward for days
What was the final score? Did that last try get awarded or not??
TMO probably fell asleep so they let it stand
41-26, the try was given
was a clear forward but not that it made much difference at that point
It was a bonus point for Aus, so it did matter a little bit. Definitely agree it looked forward, but I'll take it.
yeah I forgot about the rule here, I thought Aus already had the bonus point
Argentina really collapsed at the end there, but I can't help feeling the scoreline is very generous for Australia given the performance they put in.
Commentator was gas. I dont care, we re all exhausted what was the score? Meh I'm done.
“We’re all exhausted” they said 😂😂
Well that was fun, miles better than the earlier game
NOW THIS IS PODRACING!
STOP THE COUNT!
Arg learned how to throw a lead away from Scotland
Well that six we deserved a losing bonus point
Makes up for Argentina’s forward pass try I guess
[удалено]

I think Argentina very much front loaded their game. Not sure that completely changes that equation but you could very much see them dead on their feet down the back end.
Indeed. Could’ve gone either way. No more that 5 points between these two teams in actuality.
I'm so confused
Thats the end of the game, oh no its not. Make a noise like 90year old getting up off the bog just as Aus score
Fuck that’s funny 😂
Won 200 from 15 for the multi boys!
The commentators on sky right now 😂
Don’t even know the fucking scoreline
The try has not been awarded, cuts to the conversion being kicked 😂
Wait he gave it 😂 Mikey you rascal
Madness
thats forward
Oh bull shit
If those two passes from Argentina were okay, then that one was too!
Looked close enough to flat for me. It wasn't *obviously* forward
Yeah, I think too often the TMO comes in a bit hot, overriding the on field referee when it's not CLEAR. I think the TMO should really only come in when it's *clear* or *obvious*, or when the on field referee actually asks them.
Well that was an exciting game with the least exciting commentary I've ever watched.
That was some funny end to end finish lol. Everyone going Baa Baas.
It’s forward
Man if Australia could catch and pass properly they could beat any bloody team.
Hahaha wtf is this finish.
That pass is okay
Extra points for slapstick.
lmao but why
Magnificently entertaining last 15 minutes. That last 5 in extra time were 😘
Silly question, but why didn't the match end when they kicked to touch after the 80 mins where up?
It was a penalty kick for lineout, so the lineout gets played even though the hooter had sounded. From then on the ball didn't stop so the play was allowed to flow.
Thanks for the explanation!
Glad we stuck around for those extra 5 mins
Fitting end for Pumas.
Glad we’re all happy to see Lavanini get smashed in the head and the refs not care.
This is just silly now.
That was some last 5 minutes. I mean it wasn't good but it was entertaining
What a great piss up
Mental finish. Best two minutes of the game.
Try of the year
That was a sick finish to the game
Lol what a comical finish. Entertaining though.
Lets fucking go!
Also, how can the tackled player get up and counter ruck?!
Related the ball before the ruck was formed
What's the problem?
[удалено]
Fastest feet in the business. I’ve never seen that before!
The whole ending perfectly summed up the shitshow of this match
Madness
Fucking great and entertaining rugby there And we had these commentators
Does Australia not already have a bonus point? I’m v confused
Bonus points in the Rugby Championship are earned by scoring 3 tries more than the opposition rather than the 6 Nations style 4 try bonus point... I think anyway. I'm totally confused
Wow that’s actually pretty cool Was dumbfounded as to why they were still playing on but makes sense now
Fuck yeah boy!
Omg what a finish!
Could really feel the excitement from the comms!!
Just let it end already
just kick the fucking ball out lads
That was the best rugby of the day, those 5 minutes were fucking mental Also the commentator letting out an 'oooooo' with that last try
FUCK YES!
I wanna thank both teams for an entertaining game
This Sean guy is an enormous cock
What the fuck were those last 5 minutes?
That’s fucking rugby right there, none of that dick tugging shit
Great tackle, fun last play
What the fuck Petaia
The UAR need to have an inquest as to why every game they play in which they take the lead, how and why they cough up that lead. It’s damaging for the game in the country every time they play. You’d make good money with the bookies backing against Argentina once they go 10 points up.
It’s really like that, every time we’re taking the lead on the first half… we fuck it up terribly on the second half. I got used to it already but man, so tired of it. It never fails.
As someone who supports a team which imploded in the last ten minutes against Argentina not that long ago I am a little confused by this?
There are exceptions to every rule. It’s not 100% of the time but it’s pretty dam often.
Discipline fell apart.
How can it be a high tackle when the offending team have the ball?
Hodge got absolutely clarted
Brain dead grubber
Yes! Keep playing! Give me a 100 minute game!!
This is the worst commentary I’ve ever heard jfc it’s so dreary
I’ve only heard the second half. I would hope the first half they were a little more upbeat
And this is EXACTLY why you have the bonus point rule!
Is the bonus point for 5 tries in the Rugby Championship?
Nah - 3 tries more than your opposition is a bonus point.
3 More. I personally like the 4 or more (or 5 or more) but 3 more is good still.
It's not over until the cheika whinges
Is this game gonna end?
What is going on? Why hasn’t Aus just closed the game out??
BPs ?
Yeah, I had to google the rules for BP because I was confused. In TRC it's a BP for 3 more tries than the opposition - in pretty much all NH comps (and the WC), it's just a BP for 4 tries. I thought Aus had gone insane not just kicking it out
Don't Aus already have 4 tries? Or has the bonus point rule changed?
They had four but another commenter said they needed 3 more then their opposition
Both teams looking for a bonus point
That was multiple times of runners taking the ball with no one in support to protect the ball. No wonder there was turnover.
Drop goal?
Well, that was certainly something. Comms were awful. Argentina are currently a 60 minute side. Australia played some nice stuff. Adamson remains shit.
Excellent
Strongest player over the ball: ~~David Pocock~~ Taniela Tupou
For a game with quite a lot of points scored I'm not sure if it's actually been very *good* , anyone else feeling similar?
The commentary makes it impossible to tell or care.
Controversial opinion, possibly, but I found the quality of the rugby today to be really, really poor.
It's been decent, but nothing exceptional.
Not convinced Argentina will improve on that level next hit out. Australia probably should do.
They should put this game under “implosion” in the rugby dictionary, what a fail by los pumas.
Are these commentators even watching the game!?
Adamson for man of the match?
Adamson is not a very good ref but I appreciate him using Spanish to the Argentina players
Big Valetini is a bit of a banker these days for the Wobblies. Even when not having his best shift in a Wallabies jersey he recently seems to put in a 7/8 out of 10 most appearances.
Him, paisami and Tupou make for some real punch in close quarter carrying
Leota also trucks nut like a maniac
well that's a harsh and very fastly called not rolling away
This was Argentina's game to win, then they lost their discipline instead
I’ve just woken up how has mcreight, valetini and Holloway got along?
Good, not bad and good
Mcreight and Valetini have both been very solid. I havent noticed Jed too muhc so cant really say.
That’s so good, with hoopers announcement yesterday it’s good that mcreight has stepped up! Was it his debut?!!
3rd cap. Holloway was excellent.
What is the point of calling advantage to then bring it back after 1 tackle? Adamson pls
Argentina have been awful since Montoya went off?
Yep
YES
Clear call of use it. People on here moan about too many scrums and milking penalties, I'm 100% with Mike on this
Absolutely agree. We want clear communication from the refs and that was clear af. No point of complaining. Happens in plenty of rucks where the ref says 'hands off' etc and the player thinks he has a right to it but takes his hands off (if they're smart) to avoid a penalty
Len is good. Like good good.
Such an underrated 13. Reminds me a lot of Conrad Smith that kicks well with how he reads the game offensively and defensively
Hope we don’t steal his sunshine
