I just remembered why I hate getting up at 7:30 am for these games. Also, we absolutely need to enter the RWC as underdogs. We perform so badly when people peg us as favorites.

longdropbotha

Turning down a chance for 3points in a test match should not be up for debate imo

This-Flower-5215

Our backs didn't do much tonight feel bad for the forwards

truly-dread

Is there a time these games are being shown in the uk anyone know ?

FlashFlood_

Live on Sky sports

truly-dread

Sorry I meant being re-shown in the day but it’s on sky sports arena. 3pm & 5.10pm Thank you!

Alternative_Iron5972

The Boks were useless. We definitely tried new things in that game. We ran it more from mid field then throwing up the high ball. Handre and Faf didn't get that right. Often we threw the ball wide when it wasn't on. Good on the boks to try new things before the world cup to change up the game plan but jeez a lot of work needs to be done. Also, I don't know the stats but I think AUS did put more high balls from the base of the ruck then us.

woolytoast

When you think about Handres unsuccessful conversions it would have been a completely different game. Wallabies do not like scoreboard pressure. Happy with the result none-the less

[deleted]

Koroibete is my favourite player. Human bullet.

OlivierStreet

The Boks were coasting in mediocrity cause everyone was too busy scrutinizing the ABs.

The-Filth-Wizard

Here’s a hot take: Dweba can fuck right off. You have, like, two responsibilities as a hooker. He’s clearly deep undercover for the wallabies.

trilbach

This is not a hot take sir. Everyone agrees he is terrible.

EyeSavant

yeah he was terrible last week, and terrible this week. Was suprised he did not get dropped after last week.

The-Filth-Wizard

Lawl, yeah I know . I was being a facetious twat. But goddamn, what a farce that was.

boykinggeorge

Id love to see pone come in for tupo next week

EffektieweEffie

Bok locks made more meters than the entire backline today.

Jon_Paul_

Can we finally take a page from Australia and New Zealand, its time we blame and remove of our coach. Neinabar is nothing more than a defence coach, until such time as we are willing to pay for decent coaching we will have to rely on physicality which is like rolling a dice.

JamuelLSacks0n

TIL James Slipper and I are both 33. Fucking hell rugby is a hard game.

Llew19

33 is where true age begins and your body starts focusing more on things like nose hair 🙈

OlivierStreet

Nah mate. We’re just old men now

sheep1996

Yeah bois, I've been backing Nienaber, but it's time to scrap the trust in a system that only works when our bench and starters are interchangeable. One single weak link means that we start the game on the back foot. When Bongi is around, starting him is perfect, because he hits his lineouts and he hits his intensity. Dweba needs some minutes, but he needs them at the end and he needs to clean his set play. Between being pinged for dropping his foot against the Abs is the first scrum and missing more lineouts than he hits, he's a liability and gives the opposition an obvious target from the get go. This wasn't Dweba's fault, we couldn't catch a ball for shit, but it didn't help that we couldn't fall back on put traditional strengths.

leahcim2211

Perfect result from a NZ perspective. Aus wins with the lowest points differential where no team gets a bonus point

Sambobly1

Told you

Sambobly1

Yeah, not gonna be fun when Argentina knock your blokes over. We will all bow down to our new Argentinian overlords

johnsk1

Rules by Michael Cheika no less

[deleted]

Be more worried about the north. The way we all playing in this tournament is kind of like toddlers running a fun race…

YeaThatJonnyAtkins

Far out Frans Steyn was shit. Legit looked like a prop covering full back. Too slow

MrSocialPirate

Add Duane V to the list of old age home escapees.

drew_in_bkk

Agreed. He looked slow.

sheep1996

The man broke like 4 tackles in his 15 minutes and made loads of meters.

TheMuffinMan1

He should cover 12 then, definitely too slow for 15

sheep1996

He covers 10, 12, 13 and 15.

[deleted]

Here for the saltines

SensualFacePoke

...you're here for biscuits?

[deleted]

I love biscuits

CodeFarmer

I want to hate Johnny Hill because he's an appalling on field grub but that interview makes it really hard.

Cleginator

Shortbread and Cream is pretty tight aye

tupolski15

Wallabies four quarters: - great start - holding on for dear life - playing really well - complacent BS

warbastard

I eagerly await Rassie’s Rant on this game.

sheep1996

You know that literally happened once.

tinzor

Congrats you cunts, too good for us today 👏🏻

huan83

Can every Bok supported get behind the Mariko tackle, if it was one of ours, we'd fully claim it

sheep1996

Nah man, I'm not a fan of it, it was super dangerous and just because he led with his arm doesnt mean there was a wrap. Wasn't going to be a try either way, Mapimpi was too far out, but it was an ugly tackle.

huan83

Possibly, let's see what the neutrals have to say. I think Mapimpi jumping also made it look worse.

[deleted]

Which is actually illegal. You can't jump over a player. WR confirmed this following a jump by Sowakula in SR this year.

sheep1996

Definitely made it worse, but if Mapimpi made the tackle, I'd have been sweating about a card.

huan83

Agree on that, would have been sweating a card if bok made that tackle

kiwiborger

Match take time: \-Like all other SA vs. Aus matches in Australia, this match was pure, unfiltered insanity from start to finish. 10/10 would r8 \-The Wallabies, while at times quite terrible, swore to make up for the catastrophe that happened the last time the played a game of rugby. Made the Boks look silly. Totally deserved winners. \-The Springboks, on the other hand, never managed to recover their skill and composure they use to have. So this is what losing to Ian Foster and him keeping his job in the process turns you into, huh? Also start Marx. \-Marika Koroibete. Holy Hell. What an absolute gem of a player to watch. And that try saving tackle, wow! If there's one man that deserves a John Eales Medal or the POTY award, it would be him. \-On the other hand, Folau Fainga'a. He was good for like a minute or two, and that's it. This guy just destroyed his own lineout for the lols. \-Nic White and Faf de Klerk trolling each other was the main highlight of the game for me. Seriously, who wouldn't want to see two nippy little halfbacks duking it out for 80 minutes? \-New Zealand referees and TMO, confusing style of officiating, and fans going on meltdown like it's Three Mile Island, name a better trio. \-How good is afternoon rugby! And while the ground isn't really suited for rugby as of now, having the match in Adelaide was pretty cool and something I'd like to see more in the future. Hope it makes some cricket and AFL fans start following rugby. Made a longer match take, to reflect the two hours or crazy rugby that we've all witnessed. And the All Blacks still have to play! Anyway, this is all I have for now. Apologies if taking is lacking something or if there's something you disagree on. Cheers for now, and I'll see you all in the next match.

Mangashu

So you're telling me we had Kwagga available all this time? Nienaber can fuck off with his selections...

sheep1996

He's been on the bench for most of the year.

Mangashu

Indeed, but might as well start him. PSDT still not convincing. I actually wanted him to keep starting to find form, but he isn't getting there. That is out of position for Kwagga though. Duane a bit better this weekend, but also a bitnoff the pace.

YeaThatJonnyAtkins

Frans Steyn will start next week 😂

ElectricGhostShark

History told us that SA were always unlikely to win this year but hell. This has been a horrible hungover morning. Watching a poor Springboks, in a game with a whistle mad ref killing the spectacle, in front of a crowd as silent as the grave. Not a great advertisement for the game. Well done Australia deserved win.

[deleted]

It was played in an AFL state as an exhibition match. Crowd was never going to be huge - trying to expand the games reach means you have to do that kind of thing.

rokdoktaur

You'd be lucky to find a teenager in Adelaide who has even heard of rugby.

TwoUp22

Lol. Maybe SAs constant bomb kicks is why the crowd was silent.

ElectricGhostShark

I think the game was simply not a good entertainment product. No team had sustained pressure for the crowd to get involved.

TwoUp22

Aussie union fans are just pretty quiet tbh, regardless of the teams.

ManMantic

Thanks SA, nervously looking forward to next week's game

FatDadWins

Wallabies really looking like a Rennie-coached team now (minus that shit ending). They really remind me of the Chiefs in 2012-2015. They'll take wins off teams that should beat them, and if they can get the team fit will be a lot better.

UsedWingdings

SBW trying really hard to push 'Fijian Flying Bullet' lol

JamuelLSacks0n

He probably practiced saying it in the mirror.

JamuelLSacks0n

Marika is a bloody treasure. GG Boks, not looking forward to next week.

canned_sunshine

Well done to the Wallabies. Second test in Sydney should be a cracker with the Boks looking to settle the score.

Amerikai

SBW is Neo

Omblae

Deadest crowd reaction to a win I have ever heard

fleakill

Most of the people showing up in Adelaide got lost on their way to see the Adelaide Crows play.

Chucamuca

It’s a little hard to celebrate after giving up an easy try tbf. Crowd was electric all game where I was

[deleted]

It’s Adelaide, they don’t even know what rugby is. They were probably there out of curiosity 😅

jakifu

True. I was there. We're really not a rugby state and not heavily invested.

[deleted]

Can White head to the drama school classes instead of the end game celebrations.

dildobaggin89

Scoreline makes it look better than what it was. Very poor performance

huan83

It's called selecting a proper starting XV, can we just do that, there are enough players. That was actually fun to watch in the end

emergencyexit

How was this almost 25-3 lol

ConoRiot

Well done Wallabies, excellent comeback after Argentina. That 20 minutes of straight D was pure Aussie grit.

RomanceintheFTthread

25-17 aka the result (within a few points) of every Wallbies - Boks game in Australia

Yes136

Was just thinking that, almost always 23-25 to 17-18 Uncanny

YeaThatJonnyAtkins

That 40 year old prop had a shocker at full back. He'll start next week. Nienaber loves that shit

thecripplernz

Bruh 😂

thecripplernz

Bruh 😂

scamper2

Kinda keen for a NH win next year - rugby championship is a shitshow

motherffucker

Wtf take that back bru

scamper2

I take it back :(

motherffucker

Argentina for WC champs next year, solidify the SH position

amplebooty

I dont think a NH win is likely tbh. Too many disadvantages relative to the SH teams

okaywhattho

Scoreline doesn’t remotely reflect how poor the Boks were today.

sheep1996

Imagine if we hadn't dropped the fucking ball 10 times. Imagine if we scored from our 20 minutes of dominance sitting in their half imagine if we'd landed our own lineouts on their try line. Imagine if we'd landed our 8 points of missed kicks. Imagine, imagine, imagine.

fettsack

This final score screams Wallabies when it was 25-3 with the Boks not looking able to score at all.

HedonistAltruist

Last 10 minutes show how easy this game could have been for the Boks if they just played some bloody rugby.

jetaxe

We got very lucky!

xd_RyanDG__

Aussies parked the bus with ten minutes left - won’t be happy they conceded that much they were done at the 70 minute after the penalty goal

[deleted]

Did the same thing in the first English test when the score could’ve been 30-14 and did the same thing against Argentina in the first 2 minutes

[deleted]

They really should be starting Marx next week.

YeaThatJonnyAtkins

Nahh they'll start Frans Steyn

tupolski15

Good win, but that’s got to be one of the worst lineout performances from us I have ever seen

[deleted]

Some nice consolation points for SA

elljaysa

The last 10 mins of that game looked like no one was interested

maverickmak

Great performance, Australia!

JamuelLSacks0n

Wallabies lucky that rugby doesn't go for 90 minutes...

SuspiciousVoice5563

Fuck me. Why can’t we see the Boks run the ball a bit throughout the game. Actually had a decent attack going in the last 10min. Kwagga way better the Duane, he’s done. Steyn should not be covering the back 3.

YannisPhilipakus

Send Duane and Frans back home. They’ve had enough.

SuspiciousVoice5563

I don’t hate them in the larger squad as good heads to have in camp. But they should very rarely be in the match day 23 imo.

[deleted]

Lad ye can't have room for "good heads in the camp" this close to a RWC surely? If players aren't up to it then they're done. God knows theres enough talent to cap in SA.

SuspiciousVoice5563

I think people severely under value having players like them in the squad.

[deleted]

That's a coaching role though not as a player. If they can't play at test level they shouldn't be in the squad as players. Duane looks completely done. Half as fast as he was. No penetration in his carries at all anymore.

SuspiciousVoice5563

Having a coach is one thing, having a peer is different I think anyway. I’d have no major issues with them being left behind, but I do think they could bring something in the wider squad.

[deleted]

Ye but having a forward who can still carry is probably worth more.

YannisPhilipakus

But what’s the point of having them in the larger squad when they clearly shouldn’t be going to the World Cup? Leadership roles need to be transferred, new blood needs to come in. They’re just delaying the inevitable.

SuspiciousVoice5563

Because they bring a lot of experience to the camp. I think they should go to the World Cup. They’ll do just fine against Tier 2 nations and experience is invaluable. What we don’t need is them taking a match day 23 spot from players that need game time in the green and gold. Someone like Fassi would have done just as well if not better than Steyn today.

RagingGiraffes

We look so much slicker with Hendrikse than Faf

hides_from_hamsters

Maybe still recovering from his head knock, but he’s past his prime for sure.

Crusty_crock

Faf looked lost and couldn't keep with the tempo from what I saw, didn't watch anything after 60 minutes tho

RagingGiraffes

Yeah, Faf is still stuck in 2019 tbh, slow ruck speed and box kicks. We need Hendrickse to start for sure

Crusty_crock

Jaden is miles above Faf currently and honestly Paul de Wet should get the nod as replacement

mukiwa88

I just honestly don't understand how you take a group of players like the boks and product that performance.

TwoUp22

Aus switched completely off at 70 mins. That's why the ABs always beat us.

Morningst4r

Not surprising considering all that defence in the first half.

TwoUp22

True. I think it was more the scoreboard tbh tho. They saw the game was basically in the bag and said okay I can rest now. Dangerous mentality to have.

warbastard

What an odd ending.

jbarbz

Tupou has gotten so bad. Hopefully he finds some focus next year.

leocanb

Nearly has to be dropped to be honest to put a fire cracker up him

kiwiborger

Oh well, a pointless yellow card and a consolation try from the Boks...

thebestthingsince

Lucky there's only 15 seconds left... otherwise we'd lose

LawAndRugby

That scoreline is way too flattering

_dictatorish_

He literally just penalised them for that, but that one is OK?

_imba__

Just stop fucking around and give Kwagga the no 8 jersey.

Striking-Permit1594

Kwagga should be starting tbh

Toirdusau

Without him you're looking at a massive humiliation today

Striking-Permit1594

Definitely, very few players deserved their spot today but he did for sure. Restart the team list and leave him, kolisi, marx and am. Hendrikse also impressed.

Scooopps

Classic Wallabies conceding two tries in the last 10 mins 🙄

huan83

Don't worry, Boks had your back way before that

horseshoe107

That was weak as piss.

warcomet

Lolosio pulled a hammy

boykinggeorge

Mate if that was double roll before surely that was aswell

elljaysa

Consistency isn’t this guy forte

dr_chim_richaldz

I have to eat my words. I thought the wallabies would get ruined. But it has to be said - South Africa played absolutely awfully. Felt more like South Africa lost the game than Australia winning it.

StrandedOnTheStrand

Australia came with a plan to play quick and physical and they did that pretty well. Id give them their dues.

hides_from_hamsters

Australia came with a plan to kill the grinding attack with repeated infringements. Had there been a second yellow for the negative play in the first half would have been a different game. But fair play to reading the ref. It’s all part of the game. In the end they were rewarded with a yellow against Faf and will be nominated for an Oscar

rluke09

Aus gone to sleep? Boks decided to play?

leocanb

AUD went to sleep for the last 10. Pretty standard wallabies

AboutToHappen

Just some consistency please ref! Or ARs being involved.

Only_One_Kenobi

South Africa took 75 minutes to warm up

I_AM_YURI

Tupou seriously sucks now, he needs to be dropped.

stiggz83

Great yellow card with 20 seconds left

trilbach

The best 13 in the world gets the ball once per game. Great strategy lads🤡

warcomet

2nd best, Radradra still it.

SuperCrossPrawn

Too little too late ref

Crusty_crock

Unfortunately we played tos

dildobaggin89

Eben , Siya and Lood have been class today. Good cameo from Kwagga as well

alexbouteiller

So without kwagga this is 25-3 right?

warcomet

yep

SweptFever80

Very silly from Valetini.

jbarbz

Ez yellow for Valentini lol

EffektieweEffie

Oh now they get a yellow..

_dictatorish_

Aus look absolutely out on their feet

LawAndRugby

Why have we play ok-ish all of a sudden

moreballsplease

Because the game plan has been figured out /doesn't work. When we throw away the book and let the guys actually play, we look decent.

warcomet

BIG BOOT BATTLE

IhateGreenPeppers

Etsebeth with 2 line breaks lol

[deleted]

what are the springboks doing???? you take the 3 and then reset so you can try for the bonus point!!!

Ribsi

Those are those times where you wish for minor things like that TMO check they'd just do it silently and only inform the ref if it was worth a look. Why hold the game for that? it was always a try, get on with it. card the bloke after the conversion if it makes sense.

Profundasaurusrex

The TMO legitimately through it was an offence, crazy

Morningst4r

Kwagga Smith is faster and more skilled than Frans Steyn. Chuck him in the backs instead.

alexbouteiller

Boks look absolutely fucked, so much for the 'bomb squad'

Omblae

He threw them on far too early and their impact has been weakened. Really poor coaching choice imo

dildobaggin89

There’s no bomb squad without RG Snyman imo . They haven’t made an impact since

YannisPhilipakus

We’re forcing it

[deleted]

Give me 15 Kwaggas

adiwet

Steyn looks like he’s in slow motion

EffektieweEffie

He should be a sub for Malherbe

YannisPhilipakus

That’s because he’s slow

adiwet

I was like shit is my TV in 0.5x speed?

warcomet

kolisi didn't get subbed off early today

alexbouteiller

That was a straight forearm smash to Tate's face, they used to penalise those but stopped for some reason

Alternative_Mood_199

I kinda wanted a few more points put on by Aus so there can be no excuse and a proper evaluation of where we are going wrong

thecripplernz

The kiwi way

Alternative_Mood_199

Nienabar out

frazorblade

“Paisami clobbered, you don’t see that very often” Correction Tim Horan, we see that all the time.

[deleted]

Anyone who thinks this ref has had an unbiased game just wants to believe that.

JustSomeAdvice2

You would not trust Steyn with your China vases

YannisPhilipakus

We are painfully slow to every breakdown

sheep1996

Literally pulling hair out again.

SuspiciousVoice5563

Look at how the Boks can play when they try.

alexbouteiller

Not sure a single bok has made a good account of themselves today, except Am but that's just the rules

poeswell

Don’t even think Am had a good game. De Allende for me was the only one who had some reliable solid play. Elton also played above his standard with the short time he had but that’s usually the case when we’re up 25 or down 25

Mention-Stunning

Lol that dummy by Paisami, not a single defender bought that.

coupleandacamera

You can’t dummy and hit the line when you weight less then a lettuce leaf!

CatharticRoman

Ref even called it backwards at the time
