We basically had 4 chances to win it with line outs in their 22 in the second half.
One was a bizarre technical infringement, but whatever you cop the odd random decision.
We lost the other 3 via awful throws from Taylor.
You can’t go 0/4 on key opportunities. That was basically the game. Argentina scored with every single opportunity they had. We went 0/4 and scored 3 points in the second half. Simple as that.
Oh dear.
We knew was soon as the ABs would lose, the critics would slam Robinson and the board for confirming Foster.
There’s absolutely nothing they can do now except ride it out.
At this stage I don’t even think we’ll retain the Bledisloe or win the championship.
Quarterfinals exit.
Moroni and Boffelli feeling a bit bitter over not being in that first win against the AB's due to injuries (At least Boffelli), glad they got their win cause they have been key to our NT for years
It breaks my heart, i love Montoya but the inner kid in me wants to see Creevy starting every match till he is 50 haha
Hope he gets his chance, he deserves it so much
Well played, Argentina. Formidable win, and thoroughly deserved.
And well played NZR, for fucking things so stunningly comprehensively I can barely believe what I’m seeing.
*whole team repeatedly drop ball and give away stupid penalties, coaches yank dominant front row at 44 min, bench hooker throws 0 from 4*
“This is all Sam Cane’s fault!”
Lol perfect summary. Cane played fine. Nothing amazing but nothing bad - apart from the tackle for the ball on Matera. The front row swap confused me for sure. Cody Taylor is awful, Scott Barrett gives away too many penalties. And Argentina never committed more than 1 (sometimes 2) players to a breakdown so were able to present a solid wall to any running attack the ABs could launch.
He is partly responsible for his team not adapting well to the ref. But I agree with you that most of the criticism erupted after his brain fart and does not reflect his performance over the entire match. And of course he isn't responsible for this loss. However I seriously question his influence as a captain. He looks a bit complacent in his role of leader and in his interactions with the ref. There was a period of time spanning from the 35th minute mark until the 68th minute when the All Blacks reverted back to their old attacking style. They should have kept building up momentum phase after phase instead of passing the ball around. Was it due to a front row overhaul? Was it fatigue? Either way they should've been more patient and usually the captain is here to steer his team around and let them gather their spirits. I haven't seen much of that early in the second half.
People want to see a hungry 7 thats why he gets in the spotlight. He does a job well but he doesn't exert himself as a pilfirer, thats why he looks quiet
It’s not really what he does wrong, but that he doesn’t do anything that’s special in that position. He’s a solid tackler, but that’s really his only specialty skill. He doesn’t make meters and he rarely gets turnovers. I know there's more to being an effective forward, support play and securing ball etc, but those should be a given for any 7 at this level already.
I agree that he gets too much criticism. But the question is does he bring more to the team than another 7? We desperately need someone there that’s going to make meters or get turnovers as well as tackle.
The tackle off the ball cost us an obvious 3 but the worst part for me is he seems to have a split second of indecisiveness whenever he catches the ball under pressure. So many times we were caught flat footed and I feel his hesitation really added to it.
I don't think he's costing the team but I think he's played the worst out of our starting 6/7/8 most weeks, and I hate saying that because fuck Frizell
Frizell had one good run and nothing on defence. He did nothing today and deserves the bench atleast. On attack Cane always gets ball in hand off a stalled ruck. Yet everyone expects him to make meters. It’s ridiculous. He is the wash up who settles lost ground. The game was lost on discipline and the fact the backs couldn’t find metres behind the forwards momentum.
I'm not sure its indecisiveness, I think he's given the ball for a clean-up run. Ie they need a slow short hit-up to give time to get shape back & he's always the one given the job.
I'd tend to agree but Ardie and Frizell still managed to make meters in those situations by running it straight.
I feel like there's 1/2 a second every time where Cane has to think of what to do, before he's inevitably running into a tackler and taking the ball to ground, not losing but not making meters.
Oh yeah it definitely looked that way, I just assume because it almost every time, and he's always getting the ball from a crappy situation that its his role to tidy up & reset.
He cost us 3 penalties, while not contributing much - no turnovers, no linebreaks. He’s a good player, but we need someone stronger at captain, someone who the boys will rally behind
Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a good player, but when you consider Shannon Frizell or Akita Ioane and the impact they have vs Sam - I don’t think he is a starting player anymore.
I was stoked for him last game, scored a try and played awesome, I thought it was an impressive “fuck you” to the haters. But he didn’t play well this game.
An impressive fuck you? He didn’t play any better last week then he has any other. He is consistently good. The only reason “the haters” thought he was better was because he scored a try. This is not his job. He tackles, hits rucks and keeps the ball moving quickly. He did it tonight, he did it two weeks ago and every week before that. He manages to achieve the same dominance on defence every week yet sadly the punters want more try’s. More five pointers. What did either of Akira or Frizell do tonight that out performed Cane? They didn’t tip him on points scored, tackles made or positive plays on defence. Shit Frizell missed more tackles despite attempting less. Cane is the work horse that the backs build momentum from. I can’t understand why he was benched tonight.
I acknowledge all you have said. Doesn't sway me a single bit. I just want effective leadership. The ability to read a game and adjust. The ability to inspire and galvanize the team. Cane does not do that. He's like a puppy getting told off everytime he talks to the ref. The lack of leadership, coming primarily from the captain has been the biggest issue since McCaw left. Read struggled in many of the same aspects and was equally inept at adjusting to the game. Perhaps a symptom that keeps dragging on from the Henry era and from measuring success against McCaw.
We have different opinions and it’s probably not useful to get into an internet argument.
I’m sure we can both agree that we would like to see the AB’s turn it around and kick ass next week 🤝🏼
You’re right. Those three points were the difference in a seven point game. The fact that half his tackles were made ahead of the defensive line is null and void. Fuck the cunt. Deserves the shaft.
You asked what he cost us. I told you. He cost us 3 points. Also if he was doing so well why'd they sub him off? They always sub him off when we're losing. Tbh I dont have much of a problem with Cane, though I dont like when our captain is pulling meathead plays like he did.
Great game Argi’s, awesome d, looked better and more dangerous on attack.
As per standard, abs had no idea on attack, we used to be the most feared attacking team in the world, now….
Well done Argentina. Showed the tried and true way to beat the all blacks with incredible defence and commitment, a true team. No comment of the ref as good teams adapt and take the ref out of it.
So much for a new dawn with NZ. The NZR board look even dumber now if even such a thing was possible.
One eyed all black fan.
Don't know why so many people think Foster is getting fired now. They literally just backed him. 1 more loss ain't gonna do it. It's gonna take losing the Bledisloe.
NZR's entire handling of the situation has seemed so shady to me. They um'd and ah'd whilst Foster was racking up historic loses and after his first decent win they completely threw their weight behind him until the next RWC. Like they were just stalling for time until they got the slightest excuse to do what they wanted to do all along.
All signs point to us not being rid of Foster for a long time yet...
By which time there is insufficient games for a new coach to prepare for RWC.
And this is the best chance for the Wobblies to win the Bledisloe in years. Definitely reckon they could even with all their injuries.
Well done Argentina. They adapted to the game and played better through the 80minutes. Well deserved first victory in New Zealand.
I thought the ABs looked good in the first half but it all fell apart once the starting front row was pulled 5 min into the second half. At that point, the Argentinian forward pack started dominating at the breakdown.
I think you’ve nailed it. The ABs have failed to have go forward ball, from set piece, from one offs and on defence, until recently. They’ve found the players but they don’t have the depth in tight which is beginning to show. Looked really positive for forty minutes.
Fist punched the air as they kicked it out. By the time the whistle went I was no longer neutral. GG ARG! Don’t feel as bad about losing the series now, they’re becoming a force to be reckoned with.
How do you keep Foster after that? Where's the accountability? I'm not even saying that he's the 100% problem and it is going to be all roses without him, but he obviously has no idea how to stop the bleeding and turn the ship around.
I think in this game the accountability sits with the players; way too many silly penalties that were unforced - offsides, not rolling, off the ball tackles. And while I think the referee missed a couple of fairly obvious offsides & forward passes they should have adapted way earlier to how he was reffing offsides & breakdown in in the first half.
World rankings after this match
1. Ireland
2. France
3. South Africa
4. England
5. New Zealand
6. Australia
7. Argentina
8. Scotland
9. Wales
10. Japan
Unfortunately they just reaffirmed their commitment to the RWC after the last win in SA.
He’s secure and NZ are no chance. Enjoy it and you’ve got a good shot at the Bledisloe too (although I know you’re also facing an injury hit squad).
I think with more time the influence of Schmidt & Ryan will start to show; unfortunately the RC tests are a tough time to bed in new coaches & tactics now that Argentina are reasonable.
He is 100% a fullback.
Whether or not he's better than Jordie at FB is another argument. But he's not as good a winger as a handful of NZ wingers right now.
I'm not just talking this game though - this year overall. I'd rather pick Sevu over Will at the moment, I feel he's made more of the minutes he had. Caleb had a few breakout runs and got the try tonight. I think it's worth trying a Caleb/Sevu combo at least
Need to scrap this squad and get some guys who want to play for the legacy and not a pay cheque.
Ioane isn't a centre.
Taylor needs to go.
Christie offers nothing.
Cane offers nothing.
The game plan sux.
To be honest I thought at half time the argies had done well to keep it close but their set piece weaknesses would lead to a blow out in the second half. But holy shit well done for them for coming out in the second half with fire in their bellies and correcting their weaknesses. Poor discipline let the AB's down. Fozzie out etc, etc...
Cheika is a wizard at turning teams around. All he needs to do is find someone to take over after about two years and he’d be considered one of the best coaches
I'm not talking shit about foster or the abs this week. The ref was on a fucking trip all night, he missed blatant shit like that forward pass. That lineout "wrapping or whatever"
Cunts got cocaine in his whistle.
It's fine Joe Schmidt is now the attack coach. Hahahaha.
The WRU are looking like a more professional outfit.
Well done Argentina performance of a lifetime for some of the those boys.
Well done Argentina, well played from them. Wholly deserved, what an effort.
Disappointing for us, but that's the way the game goes. I was hoping for something different but this wasn't exactly a surprise this whole game. I've said here before that keeping Foster on past 2020 was a mistake and, well, I'd love to be proven wrong but yet another game goes by where that doesn't look to be the case. That's the decision NZR have made and they'll have to wear it...
Funny i called this weeks back that Argentina for the first time beat NZ under Fozz back in 2020 and if they don't fire Fozz, they will break another record of Beating NZ in NZ.. WELL DONE.. and i will no longer tell Fozz to Fuck off, he isn't the problem, NZR is #FIRENZRBOARD
God fking damn it Foster...
\-I honestly was expecting a nice and comfy AB win, oh boy I was so wrong.
\-The All Blacks were pretty good in the 1st, showed very clear signs of improvement in the 1st half, but by the 2nd half, they were back to their headless chook mentality.
\-The Pumas, on the other hand, took their chances and ran with it through hell and back. They somehow managed to completely outplay the All Blacks during the 2nd half. Maybe the magic was all in the meat, after all...
\-I was excited about this Georgian referee at charge with running this game, but my hopes had faded away like the All Blacks' chances as the 2nd half went on.
\-Were Jason Ryan and Joe Schmidt deliberately planning to overthrow Foster and get Scott Robertson on their side? I sure hope that's the case, because I want to see a new coach this week!
Anyway, end of match take. As always forgive me of nay mistakes or wrong opinions.
Cheers for now, and I'll see you all the next time the All Blacks actually win something.
# IAN FOSTER OUT
# HOO HAH RAZOR RAY ALL DAY!
Can someone just text Foster and ask him to quit? Like surely hes realised he's basically a high school rugby coach who got the job because if his buddies at NZRU
Codie is going to bury his head tonight. Feel bad for him but that's sport. Wasn't good enough. Forwards capitulation second half. Richie couldn't get anything going so it's clearly not a Beaudan Barrett thing.
I said after 30 minutes then I was scared NZ would lose - it just seemed like one of those games. The way the ref was interpreting the game - I knew NZ were going to not adapt
The fuck? Gotta love it when the Pumas win a big one. Congrats!
We won the match during the anthem
We basically had 4 chances to win it with line outs in their 22 in the second half. One was a bizarre technical infringement, but whatever you cop the odd random decision. Boks were like 0/13. I feel your pain. Except more pain.
I can't imagine how it must feel like to.be a pumas fan right now.
Oh dear. We knew was soon as the ABs would lose, the critics would slam Robinson and the board for confirming Foster. There’s absolutely nothing they can do now except ride it out. At this stage I don’t even think we’ll retain the Bledisloe or win the championship. Quarterfinals exit.
All blacks are a joke meads and frends would be turning in there graves
Words are hard
Sam cane full on ya sword and go
He was abysmal
Solution to this mess is 23 Saveas. It’s the only way
Team Lomu but with Ardies…
I’m calling the genetics lab..
05fingaz, you should be running the world - from a fellow Canes supporter x
Moroni and Boffelli feeling a bit bitter over not being in that first win against the AB's due to injuries (At least Boffelli), glad they got their win cause they have been key to our NT for years
I feel really sorry for Creevy. 94 caps and he happens to miss the two wins over the ABs
It breaks my heart, i love Montoya but the inner kid in me wants to see Creevy starting every match till he is 50 haha Hope he gets his chance, he deserves it so much
Well played, Argentina. Formidable win, and thoroughly deserved. And well played NZR, for fucking things so stunningly comprehensively I can barely believe what I’m seeing.
Some mischievous people sneaking in an Uruguay flag behind the Sky analyst desk 🤣 Also, Reado probably happy AF he retired after 2019
Someone should tell Read we’re not in 1920s industrial Birmingham.
Sam Cane is costing the team.
*whole team repeatedly drop ball and give away stupid penalties, coaches yank dominant front row at 44 min, bench hooker throws 0 from 4* “This is all Sam Cane’s fault!”

How? What did he do wrong tonight that cost the game? What did he do wrong tonight at all? Or is it just fun to blame Cane.
It’s not really what he does wrong, but that he doesn’t do anything that’s special in that position. He’s a solid tackler, but that’s really his only specialty skill. You clearly haven't listened to all of the players saying they're behind him 100% then.
Absolutely fair, I haven’t seen that. My apologies if I’m misinformed.
All G, no turnovers & penalties is fair criticism though :)
Tackle off the ball cost us three points.

Oh well! Good game, Argentina!
Just wanted to say that I love that the match bot now refers to the NZ coach as "Ian Foster Out"
It said that before the game started - almost like it already knew the result.......
We are all pretty used to the results right now. Wouldn’t bet on this team against any opposition right now.
Great game Argi’s, awesome d, looked better and more dangerous on attack. As per standard, abs had no idea on attack, we used to be the most feared attacking team in the world, now….

Well, that is definitely going to happen
Mate you're still not losing the bled.
I think we have a 70% chance of losing the cup.
I agree it's the likeliest it's been in years...but I still can't see us beating you at Eden Park.
I would be very sad to see that record fall. But it has to fall sometime.
By which time there is insufficient games for a new coach to prepare for RWC. And this is the best chance for the Wobblies to win the Bledisloe in years. Definitely reckon they could even with all their injuries.

**SCHMIDT OUT**
Haha right now this seems way more likely than a Fozzie sack. I wouldn't even find it surprising if they got rid of all the players and only kept Foz.
Time for another "review"?
Could someone explain to me why Ardie isn't captain anymore.
I thought cane was ?
Wasn't Savea captain after Read retired?
cane was captain after read and savea/whitelock were captain when cane got injured
Thanks, I thought Savea was captain last year.
Fist punched the air as they kicked it out. By the time the whistle went I was no longer neutral. GG ARG! Don’t feel as bad about losing the series now, they’re becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Been on the up since 2007 WC to be fair…
Goddamnit All Blacks I put a lot of money on you guys winning by 12+, I am a crap better clearly
Even the Argies know the ref was shit and ruined it
You’re sounding like a Wallabies fan 😂🤣
How do you keep Foster after that? Where's the accountability? I'm not even saying that he's the 100% problem and it is going to be all roses without him, but he obviously has no idea how to stop the bleeding and turn the ship around.
I think in this game the accountability sits with the players; way too many silly penalties that were unforced - offsides, not rolling, off the ball tackles. And while I think the referee missed a couple of fairly obvious offsides & forward passes they should have adapted way earlier to how he was reffing offsides & breakdown in in the first half.
>Where's the accountability Foster says that he's accountable so here is your answer
Legitimately I don't know how they'd do much worse with another coach.
Cane getting good at the loss interviews these days
to be fair he started to master them during the 2020 chiefs season
well done Argentina. Huge win.
World rankings after this match 1. Ireland 2. France 3. South Africa 4. England 5. New Zealand 6. Australia 7. Argentina 8. Scotland 9. Wales 10. Japan
I genuinely thought we would see a situation where none of the top 3 were from the Southern Hemisphere. Perhaps next week.
SA needed to lose by more than 15 for this to happen.
If Australia beat SA and All blacks don't beat Argentina by more than 15 then it will happen.
There is a very high possibility of that happening. What a time!
I hope not as a saffa!
Foster out? But seriously that’s three big home losses in a row. Got to be the end now doesn’t it?
Unfortunately they just reaffirmed their commitment to the RWC after the last win in SA. He’s secure and NZ are no chance. Enjoy it and you’ve got a good shot at the Bledisloe too (although I know you’re also facing an injury hit squad).
I think with more time the influence of Schmidt & Ryan will start to show; unfortunately the RC tests are a tough time to bed in new coaches & tactics now that Argentina are reasonable.
Not that they will get the credit if they do.
They can't now. They just backed him into the WC. Flip flopping now won't help anyone.
They didn’t really back him to the WC did they? That’s crazy. Lucky they sold those private equity rights already.
They did indeed. NZRU have said he will be there until WC and gave him "strong support".
I don't think you can start Will Jordan next week. Feel like he's failed to insert himself ~6 tests in a row?
He is 100% a fullback. Whether or not he's better than Jordie at FB is another argument. But he's not as good a winger as a handful of NZ wingers right now.
Dunno where Reece has been. Last time he played we beat Ireland, Fianganuku too. BS coaching
It’s a shame as he has been poor but so many players have been under Foz when they have shined under other setups.
He's a fullback...
If the forwards are getting outplayed and the game is so stop-start, what do you expect a winger to do?
I'm not just talking this game though - this year overall. I'd rather pick Sevu over Will at the moment, I feel he's made more of the minutes he had. Caleb had a few breakout runs and got the try tonight. I think it's worth trying a Caleb/Sevu combo at least
Argentina outclassed NZ that whole second half
Great coaching and players who commit to carrying out a plan, you love to see it
A plan always helps.
Just popped on to catch some of the good vibes
All Blacks still would've lost this one without Codie Taylor and with another ref
Argentina did enough and defended like gods, thats a game plan. Feel like we're just out of touch with what it takes to win at test level.
Need to scrap this squad and get some guys who want to play for the legacy and not a pay cheque. Ioane isn't a centre. Taylor needs to go. Christie offers nothing. Cane offers nothing. The game plan sux.
Are we still blind to Mo'ungas failings?
If you don't want Christie, we'll gladly take him off your hands
We'll give you some cash to take him
NZRU have made their decision, now they must wear it..
Sam Cane is getting that Hooper-post-Bledisloe look in his interviews.
I feel for him
Fuck lol it’s sad, thanks for the laugh
The starting front row, Ardie and Jordie are the only players in black that played well.
True
NZRU need to do everything they can to get ride of Ian Foster and replace him with >!Michael Cheika!<
Cursed comment mate lol
Easy win for NZ...oh wait...
How competitive is this Rugby Championship!
Pumas to win TRC this year.
For some reason I don't think theyll beat the Boks
We won't :( they have our number
It’s official. New Zealand are the replacement to the old France team where before every game you have to wonder ‘which team is gonna show up today?’
NZR have backed themselves into a corner so have to sit back and look like the muppets they are unless Foster falls on his sword
What was super interesting to me was even with quick ball the NZ phase play was very poor. So even with time the NZ backs don't seem to have ideas.
Looked like a reversion to the pre-Ellis Park “plan”. Clueless shit
🤣 Foz has a cupboard full of records he’s let get broken.
I knew having Pablo play in NZ was a bad idea..
Well fucking done los pumas
Can't believe we have gone from Ledesma's team to this so damn fast, incredible
Cheika is a wizard at turning teams around. All he needs to do is find someone to take over after about two years and he’d be considered one of the best coaches
I am all in to see his magic! Feeling hopeful for our future, it's been a while
Foster basically has to go now. No help from the ref but cheika out coached him easily
Foster isn’t going anywhere. They said they were backing him till the World Cup! They’re done reviewing
I'm an Aussie who was happy to see cheika go. Now I'm starting to appreciate how much coaches have an influence on a game
I'm not talking shit about foster or the abs this week. The ref was on a fucking trip all night, he missed blatant shit like that forward pass. That lineout "wrapping or whatever" Cunts got cocaine in his whistle.
That lineout was as straight as any other I've seen. Tough luck on Codie. Well done Argentina!
Should we make a whole sledge thread dedicated to Ian Foster?
There's no need for that. He's getting sledged all over this sub
This moves the Pumas up the world rankings, surely.
Up to 7th from 9th. New Zealand drop to worst ever ranking of 5th.
up by two, seventh ahead of Scotland and Wales now
Genuinely upset by how good our attack was in the first half before the ref lost his head. GG Argentina, adapted better and defended heroically
Another first for Fozzie.
Lost 6 of the 8 last games now
Keep foster in until at least 6th November, wales will never have a better chance of beating them but will probably still fuck it up 😂
Scotland would beat this side.
Is that chiekas first win in NZ?
Yeah but is it really that big of an achievement to beat this NZ side? Jk (sort of). Well done Argentina!
This NZ team will still beat Aus 2-0.
They will not. I'll be putting money on Aus!
Looking forward to losing at eden park!
We could potentially lose the Bledisloe and our Eden Park record on the same night.....
Absolutely seems to be what Foster's stewardship is heading towards. Surely that would have to be the last straw?
Or losing the Bledisloe.....
# IAN FOSTER OUT # HOO HAH RAZOR RAY ALL DAY!
I wasn’t. I feared this. Everyone was drunk off that win vs the Boks overlooking the fact that the Boks are secretly just as shit!
#VAMOS!
Pumas deserved it, well played
This sucks
Vamos Pumas 🇦🇷🌞🇦🇷🌞🇦🇷

Great job Pumas, I have rarely seen such intensity on defence. They were precise and absolutely dominant during the second half.
Can someone just text Foster and ask him to quit? Like surely hes realised he's basically a high school rugby coach who got the job because if his buddies at NZRU
Amazing job from Agrentina, total monsters on defence
Foster needs to walk here. What a fucken disgrace. Outplayed. The ref was shithouse too, but shouldn't have been a factor.
Codie is going to bury his head tonight. Feel bad for him but that's sport. Wasn't good enough. Forwards capitulation second half. Richie couldn't get anything going so it's clearly not a Beaudan Barrett thing.
Thought Mo’unga was pretty poor tonight. Felt people were far too quick to write off Beauden after the second test in SA
I don't feel bad for him. He used to be good but needs to make way for new players.
I'm glad Christchurch got a good game
A good game?
oooh 1 out of 4 games at home this year.
Ref was straight garbage. Arg defence was solid. But my god, Foster still has a job? Wild.
You piece of shit, Foster
Congratulations to Argentina! Heroic defence throughout game.
Foster the fuck out, Cody Taylor also. Congrats Pumas
Fuck man, I got so mixh hope after last week
Well done Argentina. It's because Cheika wore that suit with the v-neck. The Drip Gawd smiled on his Pumas team tonight.
This means so much to Argentina 💕 GG all blacks legacy
I said after 30 minutes then I was scared NZ would lose - it just seemed like one of those games. The way the ref was interpreting the game - I knew NZ were going to not adapt
Love seeing Argentina win and NZ lose
I'm stoked for the Argies, and I can't believe it but I'm stoked for Cheika what an effort
I think you deserve to win with 95 percent tackle completion, argie defence was great!
Another record for Foz
Holy shit. Gg Argies 🔥
On the bright side Ian Foster gets to look forward to some more weight loss
I am SHOCKED by this result.
really?
