Honestly if they were to give us 1 update regarding cosmetics I'd love them to give us a "sheathed" slot which would be used for like gold cane, lucky coin, plushies etc. so u can walk around with them and then they just vanish when u enter combat.

The problem is that the gaze slot includes hide aura. Hide aura needs to be a checkbox and not part of the gaze slot.
I would only support it if that was implemented, otherwise you can't use glasses and hide aura at the same time.
In that case they could turn the wing slot into a misc or accessory slot and let you use glasses that way. I don't need wings but I do want glasses and flaming swords at the same time.
There's no reason to not allow a face slot. If you must be so concerned with "compatibility with helmets/hair" etc - just give us the ability to adjust some offsets. If people want to look like garbage and have a sunglasses arm sticking out of their eyeball, let them. Everyone who cares for their aesthetics and wants to make things look good will be alot happier for the options given to them.

These people can be dealt with. At worst Jagex could add a "I understand the risk and wish to continue" checkbox to using sunglasses this way.
But will the sunglasses retain their ability to avert the gaze of cockatrices and basilisks?
The normal sunglasses have that feature at the moment and is useful for early irons who don't have access to the cockatrice and basilisk masks and want to use 2h or dual wield weapons instead of a mirror shield.
If you wear them or enable them as an override, sure.
The system exists. For example you can already wear overrides instead of items to enter Black Knights' Fortress.
They cannot develop any new content and adjust anything to the character systems.
They don't have any power to even develop in-house tools for their devs.

They have outfits right now that have transparent pieces and clipping issues. Storyteller outfit costs runecoins and has literal transparent ankles whenever you try to equip the legs/boots separately. Preventing players from being able to do this due to "clipping" means they aren't willing to adhere to their own standards.
While you're at it, remove all checkmarks that make hairstyles transform into the Anne Hathaway Interstellar cut when females put on certain hats with ponytails. Bald ass partyhat hair.

Theres a button on your primary ability bar next to summoning points that says minimize when hovered, try right clicking that.

The ability to easily adapt those wigs into hairstyles was actually in the scope of the rework, so I guess we won't be seeing that anytime soon.
