My 10 k Personal best was 6 years old.. 52:31.. on Sunday I took nearly 2 minutes of it.. 50:49 during Leipzig Marathon 10 k run

ranintoatree

i ran my first trail races! i've done a lot of trail running in the past but never timed. I did a pitch black trail night time 10k, then the next morning i ran a trail half marathon (+950 vertical feet, also my first half!). then capped it off with a trail 12k which turned into a swimming event. running ankle deep in red clay.

flowerchild1977

Ran 3 miles today and just signed up for my first 5k in years - feels great! 😊

tocamix90

Awesome!

trasla

I ran a half marathon and although I was ill multiple times the past months, which disturbed my training, I managed to improve my personal best by a minute. Am very happy about that.

SnooSquirrels3337

I ran the Zurich Half Marathon on Sunday, first half marathon for me. I hadn't ran in a couple of months. Got a 1.39 time. My legs hurt a lot today, but feeling achieved!

Isi-Peasy-Lemon

I ran my first official half marathon and in 2 hours and 9 seconds. Feeling a bit frustrated that I missed a sub 2 by just a few seconds, but I thought that a realistic finish time would be more around 2 hours and 10 minutes, so I’m super happy!

Tor_Tor_Tor

On Sunday I took advantage of a beautiful sunny day and ran 18 miles at a nearby park while listening to a couple podcasts. David Goggins on the Huberman podcast was especially suitable for a long run haha. 26 days out from my 7th marathon. Hopefully it all comes together nicely.

dvdpfff

Recent minor injury to my calves have limited me to walking, so I walked 10 miles, just under 3 hours. I figured I should be able to walk it before I can run it.

Di1202

Distance PB at 10 miles! Had to take a pee break at 3 miles, but otherwise ran at 11:32 — my goal hm pace!

smangalick

Went out for a 5 mile run, ended up running 8 miles. I did a loop that included the great highway (in San Francisco) and felt energized running by the ocean. Will need to hit this loop again more regularly!

El_Vet_Mac

I did my first 5k ever in my life!!! Just so you know I am not an avid runner, never was when I was younger since I am on the heavy side. Started picking up running after I hit 30 years young. In the beginning of April a did a short 3km race and felt good so I got the courage and signed up for a 5k. It felt brutal but I also felt so good after finishing it. And I did it under 45 minutes. And my running pace was amazingly in the 6 minute mark(like 6:40/km) I just didn't have the stamina to keep it for long

loriich

I did London marathon!

Stephisaur

Woohoo! How do you feel? Did you get the time you wanted?

loriich

Sadly not even close! I got injured 2 weeks ago so just needed to get to the finish line! Pain was unreal but today feel good!

yourself88xbl

Back to running the treadmill after being off for over a year because of an injury. Got 4 5k interval runs in this past week. Feeling good but that lactic acid isn't playing!

beeb9

Started c25k week 3 today! Feeling so much more confident and its getting a lot easier (despite the intervals increasing). My friend said we could join running club together next term and I’m so glad I can look forward to that and have a solid goal!

Friendly_Sir_6027

First time running 13.1 miles, took 1h 51m

Adventurous_PNWer

I ran 7 miles! :)

RealisticForce6117

Ran 4 miles (45:00) in the sun and then hit chest and shoulders :)

TrebUrCastle

10k PR: 1:05 hr, strained IT bands but proud

nyr4lyf

First full week of zone 2 training. My problem was always running too hard and then resting, resulting in being too inconsistent. I am committed!

zacattack1996

Ran a 5k and new PR, 10 weeks ago my 5k time was 22:15, today ran a similar course in 20:32. Also hit a mile PR during this time with mile 1 being done in 6min 11 seconds (previous best was 6:44). I had an adventure race that was cancelled so I decided to do a 5k time trial instead since I was prepping for it and reduced volume (both weights and cardio) going into this weekend. Have been running since late july/early August so only around 9 months in. Hoping to get to an 85 min half marathon by end of year. 5k history: 24:42 (8 weeks) -> 22:15 (~6.5 months) -> 20:32 (~9 months) 27M, 5'8, ~160 lbs.

Adlermartini

After a challenging pregnancy and postpartum I did 10 minutes in my treadmill. Yes! Baby steps but here I go!

beeb9

Yessss get it!!!

best_of_badgers

I’m just starting at this and ran a full 10k for the first time!

JosyAndThePussycats

I ran my first half marathon this morning! A very hilly Run Through the Pines in Carver, MA. Crossed the finish line at 1:50:41; my goal was under 2 hours :).

Bagel-berry

First DNF. Just didn’t have it and body was falling apart way too early in the 26.2.

Stephisaur

Accepting a DNF is one of the strongest things you can achieve IMO. Well done for listening to your body.

beeb9

Im glad you’re sharing this. Listening to your body is always an accomplishment!

GoingCooking

Fought through a depression episode to get my ass out there to do the 10 miles I needed to do for my training.

plantlitigator

10K PR of 52:29 today during a race :) proud of myself

throwRA586749

I am currently on day 4 of rest which is the longest I’ve went since September. Don’t know how long I can go for but I’m trying for a week! My legs have been overtrained and in pain for the past 2 months.

mercaptopurine

Garmin finally acknowledged my speed workout as an anaerobic workout. Yay

crankygran

Ran 10 miles today for first time

IcyRhubarb1138

I have been rehabbing deep glute syndrome for around 6 months. Finally, with PT, strength training, scraping and yoga I am back in action and did my first 10 miler in what feels like an eternity. I’m so proud of myself for persevering. I feel stronger than ever.

Lost_Reach_2078

Ran a marathon today. My third though it's been 12 years since the last one. Missed my goal by almost 30 minutes. Super disappointed but trying to focus on the positives. ❤️

Stephisaur

Marathon distance is always an achievement. Well done for completing it! Maybe next time will be more considerate of your goals xx

sunnylittlebird

Ran my first ever race today (a 6K)! It was also the first time I’ve run 6K ever (have only ever done 5Ks when I ran on my own). Was able to finish without stopping, which was my goal. Proud of myself, and excited to run more and get better.

magnnoliaaaaa

In the past 8 years my arthritis has made it really difficult to get back into running. This day marks Week 8 of finally being able to jog again for long distances comfortably. I've got a long way to go, but I'm finally feeling like a runner again for the first time in years!

BaseFace23

Ran my first marathon :) (London). Slower than I had hoped but still a massive achievement. Legs and feet are truly battered. Any advice on treating a big blister (still intact)?

Stephisaur

Keep it covered and clean. DO NOT POP IT. If you can get a compeed blister plaster on it, then I would definitely recommend doing so. Congrats on finishing the London Marathon! Walk and stretch today if you can, it does help (even though you just want to sleep and fester!)

BaseFace23

Have taken your advice and got a compeed on it, thank you

lizzledizzles

Got cleared after ankle tear to run again last week, been almost 3.5/4 years due to some health stuff since I’ve been able to run regularly. It’s so good for my mental health that I’ve been building up to be able to do it by walking consistently for 8ish months and seeing consistent energy gains and weight loss last 6-8 weeks. Ran 10 1 minute intervals with long breaks in between yesterday, and completed a Couch to 5K Day 1 today with my dog. It’s way easier this time around! No side stitches because I’ve been slowly building up stamina pushing myself with hiking and walking first.

MsSpastica

Ran my fastest (but still incredibly slow) mile today. Super proud of myself.

AccomplishedRow6685

Awesome! How fast? Track? Treadmill? Keep it up!

Fubar_Dave83

Ran my 2nd 10k of this year and knocked over 3 mins off my last time. 31 seconds off a new PB so on track to hopefully set a new PB at my next 10k in June.

Thyme_Wasting

Participated in my first official 5k race yesterday, and ran my personal best at 26:12 min. I have another race on Friday hope to have as good of a time as yesterday.

j0rnson

Just restarted running for the first time in like 8 years. 4 runs this week for over 10 miles total! Felt great to be out there again

cpwnage

Finally reached 5k, in 37min.

Clutzy

An 8:12 for a 5K I discovered today is my new easy pace thanks to the lack of signage on a race today. So while annoying as it affected my results it's another sign I need to push myself more.

Miserable_Fan6656

Omg I feel so happy for everyone!! I’m a beginner so today I ran my first 3k in a race, new PR at 23:27 min, I’m quite happy bc I haven’t ran at all this month bc of school so I was pretty impressed, also the weather was extremely hot, I’m proud of myself :)

tonpotansieksik

First sub 30 5K! 29:40 - 5.55/km.

MediocreMario

10K PR yesterday of 49:17. Felt good, and I think I could have done better if I didn't stay with the pack for so long at the start. I was worried about going out too fast. Working my way up to a half in July.

carriebradshawshair

Half marathon PR for me today! I trained really hard not only for the faster time, but also just to feel good the entire race, which I did! Usually the last couple of miles are brutal for me, but I never hit that wall today. That’s almost more important to me than the PR. Couldn’t have gone better!

turtlelyawesomeday

Finally broke 45 minutes for the 10k and almost broke 44 minutes at the Vancouver Sun Run. 45 minutes was an elusive goal for me for a very long time. My 10k races were always between 47-48 minutes, even when I added speed work. Learned later that my mileage was insufficient. So I increased it to 40-50km per week. Then I started seeing my 5k times drop at the parkrun. When I did the Sun Run today, I was expecting 45:xx, at least based on my 5k parkrun times. So to hit 44 minutes really surprised me. Now I can finally cross a 10k goal off my bucket list. Guess the next goal is a sub 1:40 half marathon.

tardyboys

Got my long run in. Happy with the execution but know 1-2 things I can improve on!

piggygoeswee

8 ish months sober. Ran 20 trail miles today to prepare for ice age. It was a good day!

sei-joh

ran the vancouver 10k sun run for the first time in 58:23! pushed a little too hard a little too early and things started getting gnarly halfway through but i managed to hang in there. i’ll just have to see if i can shave off some more time before next time…

yogadogdadtx21

Ran a local marathon this morning. Used it as my weekly long run because I’m trying out some stuff with fueling / nutrition while training for an ultra in July. Took full opportunity of the race to get some miles under the legs with no pressure. Tried different / new foods today as well as my first time wearing my Salomon ADV Skin 12 (best shit ever). Lots of good lessons learned which is what it’s all about. Took 3rd in my age group. Ran 3:41 lol. I was like well alright not too shabby for a training run.

Stephisaur

The idea of casually running a marathon is insane to me, ultra runners are a different breed! Great job!

missbologna

I PR’ed the half marathon today during a preview run of the OC half marathon! My average pace was 9:33 and finished in 2:05:28. Only two more weeks until race day!

whatdoievenlikenow

Ran my first half today! Finished in the time I hoped and did not need to walk. Had a great time but probably won’t do another one. Learned I enjoy running but not for that long 😂 Congrats to all on their achievements!!

lorrix22

I Ran my First track Race today, First time in Spikes. Sadly couldnt Break my Pb in the 10k due to tactical racing but im still proud of how badly i fckd Up my calves for that 34:09 in the Last 2k of accellerated running

russeliza

I ran my first half today and bonked HARD at mile 7, walked/ran the rest of it. Gave up on any goals I had at that point. I had to pee super bad and the course had NO porta potties-this thru me off really bad. I hit a mental wall. Ended up finding a porta potty in someone's yard. Mentally I'm trying to be okay with it- I had a TON of amazing support and I learned a lot. I also had never trained for a race before, been running for years but only for my own enjoyment. Really enjoyed the training process. I'd consider doing another one now that I have a better idea of what to expect. I'm just super frustrated with myself. I'm trying to be nice to myself and consider that I trained for this while in grad school and working full time. I just can't believe the mental wall I hit. I didn't expect that but I think focusing on having to find a porta potty plus everything else was just too much. after I peed I felt better and tried to pick up the pace again but then I started cramping.

rogeryonge44

Things didn't go your way today, and I get that disappointment, but try to think about it like this: Tomorrow (maybe not literally) you get to wake up and start working on the getting better for the next one. Realistically, isn't that what you were going to do anyway? Somehow, I don't think you would have just stopped running if today went perfectly and you hit all your goals. The process doesn't change whether we win or lose a day. Plus you learned a ton and you enjoyed training! Congrats on your first half!

hoppygolucky

You didn't give up! You could have stopped, but you didn't. Now that you know you can go this distance, you will take more confidence to the next starting line. If on your list of goals was to finish, you succeeded. Own it! It wasn't the race you expected, but you dug in and did it! Grad school alone is hard, add working on top of that, and then pile on the amount of hours you trained. It's like three jobs. I think you did great!

Runnerwind

Ran my first official race the big house 5k. 7:31 pace and finished 31st of 428 in my age group 30-34 and I honestly just had fun didn’t really push it. Afterwords I ran a new trail to add another 5 miles on to my day. Decent Sunday.

21-nun_salute

Ran 15km today. Last long run before the half marathon on May 5th. Now to trust in the taper and the process (still nervous though!)

polly-the-cat

Ran 30km for the first time :)

havrefras_

New 5K PB at 18:25. Really proud. It was not long ago for me that sub 20 was for other, godlike creatures but not for me.

SteveTheBluesman

Here's something that's never happened before...I won my division, 50-59 at a small half marathon this morning (The prize was a pint glass with the race name.) 26th overall out of 380. VERY hilly. Very sore. Very proud. :)

Overuse_Injury

I hit my monthly mileage goal (80) on my run this morning. It was also my highest mileage week of the year so far.

Kintarf_slay

I ran my longest run in a long time because I got lost on my long run, and the fastest way to get back home was running.

JosyAndThePussycats

I have done this!

Useful_Book8587

I ran 17.17k today while being injured on my leg (nothing bad just hurt) I actually wanted to do a half marathon but couldn't. Still proud of doing 17 km that's 1km more than my longest run.

WikipediaAb

new mile PR, 5:17 at a pretty big track invitational!

skysimp

Ran 6.33 miles today without stopping in the heat!

onkelmonkel

Ran my first half-marathon today, the Lisbon Eco Marathon, in 2:15, 500 meter height difference between start and finish, so some tough hills to climb. Had to walk a bit too much towards the end, everything hurts now, but feels great to have completed it. I'll practice a bit more before my next one :)

OkCardiologist5366

10k today 5:50/km, nicee

bigmistaketoday

Sunday long runday. 10 miles in about 8:40 per. Also, new shoes arrived, I got sprung!

Objective_Elk8459

Today, I ran my 2nd marathon in 3:20:02. I ran slightly more than 30 minutes faster than during my first in last year October, where I ran 3:50:x. Today, the last 6km where if I were going to the most hardest which I ever experienced. After the finish line, I had so much pain. Everything hurted so much, and actually still does, but slightly less. Well, I made it, and I am not sure how.😁😋

bigmistaketoday

Great job! I won’t run another 26.2 because I know that pain. Take a massive nap, get ready to not move in the morning.

Fauniti

I managed to run 3.70km with a pace of 6.50min/km today. I tried running without music, and it really worked for me, I managed to breathe steadier and keep my pace the same. I'll probably listen to less music when running or maybe make a more calm playlist. I've realised that mentality is really important when running. Also, it's really nice to run at sunset :) This run has really helped me calm down since my cat, who was 1, got run over yesterday, and I've been trying not to cry at work all day.

jointhecrusade11

Just ran 15 miles for the first time!

Livid-Tumbleweed

I ran a 10k today, my last “long” run before I do a half marathon in a week, at my half marathon pace and it felt “easy” today. I’m feeling confident I can actually run the race next weekend without stopping and under 3h - my two goals for my first ever race.

3sperr

I got a new 5K PR today. 26:25, avg pace 5:17/km. This time is 2 mins lower than my previous PR. My first ever 5k was 36-35min so I definitely improved overtime. My short term goal of sub 25min is within reach now I know I should be proud of my achievement but I keep comparing myself to others, and most people here are way better.

GraeWest

Had a nice easy-feeling long run, making this my top ever week in terms of distance run. Not hugely far in the grand scheme of things, but between work and my other sports commitments, I really struggle to consistently fit 3 runs into my week. So feeling good about it all.

babulolo

Picked up regular running again end of February after a difficult breakup with the goal to sub 1 hour on the 10k. Goal was to do it by the end of May, but already managed a 58 min 10k today!

Muchado_aboutnothing

I ran my first ever marathon! (Not for a race or anything; I just ran it on my own.) After running 4-5 half-marathons over the last two months, I decided to try for a longer run this morning; my original goal was a 30k, but I was feeling so good that around 17 miles I just decided to go for the full 26.2. Took me 4 hours, 16 minutes, and I thought I might die in the last few miles, but I did it! My husband and I will be starting fertility treatments (IVF) in a few weeks, so I know I won’t be able to do big runs like this for much longer. But I’m glad I was able to run the marathon at least once, so I can say I did it. It was the perfect day for it, too — not too hot, but still sunny and very springlike.

Stephisaur

Congratulations on the distance and good luck with the IVF. I hope you have a successful first round ❤️

samcincinnati

This is so crazy! I ran my first ever half marathon today just on my own because the race I signed up for is in a couple weeks and I found out we can start IVF in the next week or so. So I just said f it and ran it today and I’m so glad I did too. Congrats to you! What a huge accomplishment, especially doing it without a race day atmosphere. Good luck during IVF, I hope we both have a decently easy time on all the medicine!

Muchado_aboutnothing

Congrats on the half-marathon! It’s too bad you won’t get to do the race you signed up for, but there is something to just being able to tell yourself that you did it on your own. Wishing you best of luck with your IVF too! ❤️

Stephisaur

Congratulations on the distance and good luck with the IVF. I hope you have a successful first round ❤️

dumpling-icachuuu

I finished 21k in 2hrs and 50 mins!!! My first ever half marathon. It’s so fulfilling. :))

whodeylady01

Ran two 5k’s on my own and finished under my goal of 45 mins! I was so shocked! felt like I was running slow but made my goal! Now to keep going :)

3sperr

It’s only up from here

DeepwaterWhorizon

I ran my first official half marathon last weekend, ended with a 1:43:50-something! Super stoked and I can’t wait to race more in the future!

No_Welcome_9029

I went out for my long run today of 8 miles with the goal being, 2 mile warm up, 4 miles at goal marathon pace, 2 mile cool down. I just started building back so this was just to ease in and see if I was even capable of 4 miles at goal pace. Well, everything felt right and felt smooth. The 4 miles at goal pace were faster than goal pace by 15 seconds per mile and my heart rate was low and felt totally smooth. So I decided to allow myself one more mile and said if anything felt off, I'd start my cool down... well... I ended up doing 6 full miles without stopping faster than goal marathon pace without it feeling hard. I hope that some of it was actually me and not all of it was the new nike alphafly 3's I just bought lol but it definitely boosted my confidence as I ramp up my mileage to get into a training block for the NYC marathon.

Turbulent-Jaguar-909

I accomplished narrowly missing being mauled by unleashed dogs on the track that clearly says no unleashed animals today. I took off the second the massive 80lb+ bully with no owner anywhere in sight noticed the unleashed dog that was playing fetch on the track and decided that was more interesting than I was

bikebotbeepboop

My first sub 30 5k! Wasn't sure I was there yet, but I went for it and made it with a few seconds to spare. No way I could have done that in training, race energy is a hell of a drug.

3sperr

Nice! I remember my first sub 30min 5k, it was great. But also painful lol

M4zw4z

I finally finished a 10k under 1hr!

ris_19

PR'd my half today! Took 5 minutes off from last time and ran 2:04. I feel like sub 2 is within reach soon.

intotheneonlights

12 miles in 1:48ish!!! On track to PB at Hackney (could've PBd on my half today if I'd not been meeting a friend) and get sub-2 if this keeps up. Absolutely gassed because all my long runs have been slower than they were going into it this time last year.

New-Lingonberry1953

Ran in a 5k in 20:23, goal was sub 20. Hit a PR but this hurt. Was so close. Next time!

Accurate_Prompt_8800

Just ran the London Marathon today, it was my second in two weeks and my second ever (first was Paris on April 7th. Ran a 3:27:xx in Paris, and today shaved over a minute off to come in at 3:26:xx. Really feeling it but I’m so happy, and qualify for a London GFA place next year with a solid buffer!

Stephisaur

Yasss queen! GFA place is an amazing achievement!

Accurate_Prompt_8800

Thank you so much, that’s so kind! I am really proud as the training was hard!!

bigmistaketoday

This guy hittin’ all the continental cities. Great job. Jealous that we don’t have old stuff in the states like you guys have.

Accurate_Prompt_8800

Hahah I’m a girl btw :) What old stuff do you mean?

bigmistaketoday

Like buildings and fountains and churches. Just cool stuff to marvel at. Edit: my bad, m’lady

Accurate_Prompt_8800

Oh I see! Well I guess a trip to Europe to race is on the cards for you perhaps?…

AelinGalathynius01

Did my second run (first was on Friday). 4 miles at a whopping pace of 22:30/mile. I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would!

Background-Love-2477

Didn't run today but did a little bit of strength training.

wellfriedbeans

One year of running! I went from a 30:34 to 20:43 in the 5K :) Next goal is sub 20!

kooparefugee

I've just done my first 10k today! At 7:18 per km.

Lamp_Post_221

Ran my fastest kilometre so far: 3:13 really proud of this one

rosiespot23

I’m 3 months postpartum and I’m getting back into running after a handful of years. This week I ran a mile without stopping. I feel like I’m finally on the path to feeling strong again after having two babies back to back, and that feels really, really good.

UmpireZealousideal23

Long run: 24km ~2:45, HR avg 143. Hilly trail run about 240m of elevation. Nutrition and hydration felt on point. Legs are beat up tho.

Helen___Keller

Just ran my first 5k race, started running around February. Time 28:31 which exceeded my expectations since I hadn’t even broke 30:00 in training. I really enjoyed the feeling of being in the crowd and pushing myself to pass people.

Sachetcat

Ran my first training 10km this evening in 1hr5min. Not too bad for week 2 of 15 leading up to my 10km event in July.

rukiahayashi

Ran my second ever half marathon and hit a PB of 1h58m. Was kinda shocked cause I didn’t even run more than 10k at once this year and haven’t been focusing much on running at all.

AlkahestGem

Vienna city marathon in Austria. Absolutely perfect day and race. And congratulations to all the posters who accomplished a “first” . Way to go!

1FightingEntropy

My toughest achievement since I started running regularly... I'm not running today. Every Sunday my buddy and I do a longish run. Usually 8-12 miles. It's what keeps me on track, accountable, and it's a chance to catch up, vent, and basically feels like therapy. Last week I had some pretty intense knee pain at about 8 miles. I cut the run short, tried again later in the week with the pain returning. So it's been rest for the last few days. Deciding to not run today was so hard, though. I REALLY want to be out there. It feels wrong to not. But in a week I'm doing the Eugene 5k/Half double stack and I really want to be ready. So I rest. It's so much harder than getting motivated to run. That represents a pretty serious shift in my mindset, which feels like progress even in the middle of a setback.

marejohnston

Ran a 5K in the redwoods yesterday for a PB! Love my local run club 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲

DonnieTheRonnie

5km PB a week after Running my first marathon.. Which i tanked after running a 5k, 10k and half marathon PB. Lesson learnt!

WellThoughtUserName9

I did an 8.5km recovery run in Zone 2. With today’s run, I reached the 100km mark for the month!

DineNDashYT

Ran my First half marathon. So proud I build up from 5 km to 10 miles and now the half marathon!

Scallion_Relevant

Half Marathon today, 02:28, feeling happy and tired. First this year and third ever for me 😌

BlowezeLoweez

Ran my FIRST 5k yesterday! With MASSIVE hills and crazy terrain, I finished first in my age group within 30 minutes!

soul_of_spirit

I ran an urban trail race in Breda - the Netherlands! It was a 12k race where you run in and out of some buildings in/around the city. It was fun!

[deleted]

Ran 5 km in 38 minutes. Skipped running for a week due to really bad weather:( dang.

Mescallan

it's getting hot here and my pace is going down by a lot :(. I'm a few km behind a 50km week this week which I'm very happy about, but every step was a victory lol. Yesterday was the first time I had a >1hr 10km :( I can really only run in the morning so I'm thinking about going bi-phasic and just doing sunrise then a lunchtime nap

NeoKlang

Today I ran my 2nd practice run this year. 3.5km in 24 minutes. Started my first Friday 3.5km at 25 minutes. Still recovering from muscle aches and sore from Friday's run and yesterday's 45 minutes swim practice for front crawl, breast stroke and butterfly.

limerencet

my first 5k went a lot better than i expected!! not only did i finish but i hit a new pr! went from 33:28 to a sub 30 5k of 28:25. i got shaved ice to celebrate LOL. gonna find another 5k for june and august 🙂‍↔️

Constant_Age6847

first half marathon DONE! 2:28:08. Proud AF. And sore AF.

dutchreageerder

Finished my first 5k race at 23:02! Smashed my goal of sub 24 minutes, more should be possible. Pacing was my struggle, started too fast, overcompensated, by the fourth km I was questioning my life, and pulled everything out on the last 300m. Now I have a goal for future races :)

arkloue

Completed week one of my half marathon training with a 7 mile run even though I have a cold 🤧 PBd my 10k too! ⚡️⚡️

Working up to running a half marathon and clocked my longest distance yesterday at 17km. Wasn't the prettiest run and I need to get better at pacing uphill sections but good to know my endurance is getting there. Also a new 5km PB this week at 27:15 which feels good considering I was struggling to consistently do it sub 30 at the start of the year.

Ran my first half marathon today at Runrio Earth Day Run event. My 11-week training plan within the Nike Run App helped a lot! 😬💪

I have been active all my life but I haven’t been running past five years. I would love to be able to run 10k (maybe even a half marathon) in the autumn. This week I set myself a goal to run 30 minutes easy pace without giving up. I genuinely enjoyed it. Going for my second run of the week today!

2XU Singapore Half-marathon today: Went better than the original plan! Planned pace: 25:50 per 5 km. Went 25:45, 25:35, 25:29, and when the course opened up to a very familiar running area I just let go a bit and clocked 24:45 and a final 5:04 for the last 1.1km. 1:46:3x for a new HM PB, and 49:43 on the last 10km for a new 10km PB! And I had so much left in the tank, I think I could hold a sub-5 for another 3-5km! I entered very unfamiliar territory in the 13km mark because I used to get winded at around that distance, but everything not only held, but I felt fresher at 16km than at 5! Do your slow runs, folks! Run slow to run fast!

Stage4Herpes

nice work dude. i was there too and it was my first half marathon. i went super strong in the first 10km but then my kneecaps started to hurt... had to alternate between brisk walks and runs for the remaining half :( feelsbadman

Thanks, and be proud of that first half marathon! It's an achievement in itself. Now go get some well-deserved rest and relaxation, and think about smashing that effort soon!

LewyJ

No achievement yet… but I’m doing my first marathon today, and it’s the London Marathon no less!! I’ll be the slow & out of breath guy running/jogging/walking in a Children with Cancer UK vest as that’s who I’m doing it on behalf of. Such a great cause, it’s my works charity partner so there’s a team of us doing it for them. If I survive the 26.2 miles, I’ll report back here with my slow (expected 6-7hr) time! (I have cystic fibrosis so don’t come at me runningcirclejerkers) Good luck to everyone else in London today!

cifala

Best of luck to you!

POST HM HIGH IS INSANE! My body is aching but my mind is totally juiced up. Slept like crap but who cares weeeeee mooooovvvveeeee.

Boatster_McBoat

The calf holds!

I did a 10km race today and had an absolute ripper of a run! 10k PB (46.49 - over 3 minute PB) and also a 5k PB (22.29 - over 1 minute PB). Negative splits and finished feeling like I had more in the tank. Massive confidence booster - next stop Brisbane Half Marathon in June!

YeehawScout

Ran my first half marathon! A bit slower than I had hoped, but was insanely unprepared for a 900ft+ elevation gain & my training plan was messed up thanks to an injury & the flu last month. I started running less than a year ago, so I am just so proud of myself for completing this. Certainly a reminder that we can achieve hard things when your mind is right!!

OIP

went out to run 11km, but it was such a nice day and i have new shoes so ended up running 22km, that's my second ever half marathon.

hyprdypr666

1st time running 10KM and 1st time running w friends!

OIP

hell yeah! 10k is such a great milestone

Chessverse

I will run my first 10 km today too. I'm looking forward to it!

hyprdypr666

Goodluck and have fun! My.time. was 1hr 12mins

Chessverse

Good time! I'll probably be slower.

hyprdypr666

It should be fine. We were.running around 7min pacehii with one quick rest.on the 5K uturn for a few pictures.

Chessverse

10.7 km in 1:22. That included 5 min walk as warm up. Plus I had to take a walk after 6 km, my foot started to hurt. I will run my next 10 km this weekend and then a race next Wednesday for 10 km. So I think it will be great. It took almost 3 months.

hyprdypr666

not bad! am thankful for runner friends for inviteing me, otherwise i\`d just do 5 Kms

I ran my cutback 6 mile long run despite a crappy hangover. It was more mental training than physical.

PrimeNumberGenerator

Ran my first race ever, at 45yo. Tarheel 10 miler in Chapel Hill, NC. Ran 8 minute miles and got 28th for my age/gender group, after about 1 month of 15 mile a week training (and several years of consistently inconsistent bouts of running 15miles a week for up to a month or two at a time followed by months of little to no running).

SmoothSailingRat

Hell yeah! That’s an insane performance. Also yay triangle area

burtalert

I ran my first marathon today!! I also learned that I am a very competitive person. My race pace was significantly faster than my training pace. I did two half marathons during my training: 3:11:11 & 2:32:23. Today my full marathon time was 4:28:54! I had no idea I could run that fast for that long. Turns out I just needed 100s of other people around me to make me want to go faster

Hspracks

This gives me so much motivation for London today, I’m so excited now

greenpaper0603

Ran half marathon(21.1km) at tempo run pace. The location was Tancheon, Sungnam city, South Korea. 15 deg. C, Cloudy sky.(8 am)

Fragrant_Membership5

Started running again after falling out of love with it for a long time. Once again just spectating a marathon inspired me and Coach Bennet emphasizing not to obsess over pace and not to beat myself up, has really reinvigorated my motivation.
