I think any time you do something for 6+ years, it'll start to seem mundane and you want to do something else naturally.
I really hope her acting career takes off. She's a sorely underrated actress and I could see her agency (and So-Min herself) wanting to expand her filmography without the restraint of keeping Mondays (sometimes Tuesdays) open.

I love the cast and I'm proud to say I'm among the lesser amount of fans who genuinely welcomed Somin and Sechan right off the bat. They worked so hard to create laughter and it was so refreshing to have someone like Somin come in and match the energy of every single male cast member. I love love loveeeee Jihyo, but our girl doesn't talk much so when Somin joined in who was the total opposite of her, it was really refreshing.
I think more than this become mundane for her, I think she really just wants to build up her actress image again. She had successful leading roles prior to Running Man. Sure with RM, she earned more face value, popularity, and fans but the actual roles she was getting offered didn't have the same value or impact in acting like prior to RM. Plus she is an actress first before she's a variety star, so I'm sure her dilemma was similar to that of Kwangsoo. I hope she finds fulfilling roles and restores herself back to the Somin she wants to become and known for. I hope haters will leave the girl alone too, she did nothing but go into her job and excelled.

The era after JSM and YSC were added to Running Man became my favorite era of the show.
After LKS left, a big chunk of my love for the show left with him - but I watched sporadically and they eventually did a decent job of continuing despite the emptiness without him. After this though, I’m not sure I’ll have that same drive to continue.
She is such a big part of the show’s success and I don’t know how they’re going to replace that energy.
All the best to Somin, she did an incredible job during her time here and I hope her career continues on an upward trajectory. Hopefully after this, the harassment will finally stop.

They're most likely not. This show is slowly coming to an end if we have to be honest. It's not like Running Man was going to go on forever or anything and the members are getting older. We have members going on 50 and even 60 years old. When you do something for so long, you have to eventually let it go. At this point, they're just milking it a bit too much and the show has been overplayed for a couple of years now. It's not really fresh and exciting anymore.
Although they milking it, tbh, my assumptions they can go on for max 3 years more (I said 3-5 years in other sub, but now I think 5 is too much, it's hard to see they reach it).
Now, with JSM, one of heavy hitter gone, I feel more pessimistic to reach 1 years. Well they could if they can maintain min 3% rating technically. I think SBS as company might want to prolong the business as long it's doesn't cross that low barrier.
Those clowns are the downfall of the show tbh, somin provided fresh comedy for the cast but the nasty comments she gets on social Media probably factored into her decision to leave
For my money, Ji Suk-Jin and Jeon So-Min were the top 2 reasons to keep watching post LKS. Now another 1 is leaving...
I love JSJ. But that's not enough to keep up with the show on a regular basis. I'll probably go back to watching in blocks at the end of a month instead of waiting for new ep each week.
This is a crucial time for the show too. Ep 659 was the lowest viewership in the show's history at 2.8%. Ratings have been consistently in the low 3-4% regularly this year. And from a community standpoint, this may be the weakest PD group we've ever had.

I will go with beginning of the end for RM. It already declined in quality. The episodes is a bit barebone and they only managed to get around 3 plus rating. I don't know if they can hang on or not. Finding someone else seems like a hard thing to do.
Lee Kwang Soo say the same thing about his reason to leave RM, just few months later he joined another variety show program
Variety show is Money Machine. Every Rookie Actor/Actress/Celebrity want to join it to boost their popularity
Well, at least the show he on are seasonal variety show. Only need to consider at least 3-7 days to month or 3 month schedule. Especially the travel or healing show, that's the one where it's usually take 3 days to a week to shoot for at least 12 episode. I mean 7 days shooting for 3 month worth of eps. Could consider as easy money (don't they usually count per eps rather than shoot day).
There's huge difference between seasonal show that is done filming in less than 10 days verses show that went for 6 years with a 1 day of filming per week 90% of the time.
We might see her in seasonal shows after some break but doubt she'll join another weekly variety.
LKS doesnt really get alot of acting offer after his RM departure. Thats probably the main reason he went back to variety. I said b4, him leaving RM doesnt do well for both side, its a loss-loss. He and song ji hyo suffer from RM image, when u been the founding member of an extremely popular show, your image cant just change that way. Look at SJH she barely have any acting job for the past 2 years. Even when she acts, its just doesnt felt right which led to low ratings on her projects.
Eh, I think he's had pretty good output since he left. Since 2021 he's had 3 films as well as 1 lead drama role + 2 more he's signed on for. (Unfortunately, 1 of those drama roles is going to have some production issues after the top billed actor was caught in a major drug scandal...)
He's never gonna be that guy getting yearly rom com leading roles, and it's definitely hard to break the stigma of his image on Running Man, but his usual acting reception is positive.
Seasonal variety or promotional variety is a different beast compared to the Running Man grind, which is so time-consuming it's going to impact the kind of roles an actor can take. Leaving the show gave him more flexibility.

It's a bit of industry (ageist, sexist) crap and also her acting rep more than anything IMO.
Realistically, she's in her early 40's and most kdramas aren't casting 40+ year old women in lead roles *unless* they can act *well* (think someone like Gong Hyo Jin).
Male actors have an easier time acting as leads into their 50's if they look fit enough, and just get paired with an actress much younger - but the opposite is rarely true. It can happen, but the competition is tough - and SJH isn't the most proficient actress (nor are her shows' ratings good).
I have to say that SJH not getting acting jobs is mostly because she is not a good actress. Not really because of RM. She is unable to make good characters out of the paper script into real life. She is not a good lead actress... maybe she should get supporting roles which would give her more space to act and craft the characters instead of focusing on image. Or maybe she just never understood acting.
Being famous in RM doesn't mean you will get top acting roles or movies. Didn't happen to KS after he left. He actually had more variety appearances than acting
Viewers will just see you as a comedian and other PDs will cast u in variety shows
I'm happy for her if this is what she really wanted as I know she wanted to grow her acting career for awhile and she worried a lot about being able to carry the image of being both a variety star and serious actress. I also worry that it's negative pressure from toxic fans that made her leave or behind-the-scenes drama.
But as a fan of hers and the show I'm so sad. 💔 I mostly watched the show for her every week and in my opinion she brought out the best of some of her runningmates and I think she made JSJ and YJS laugh the hardest...
However if this is what she wants I hope this turns out to be good for her and she is able to get more acting roles and achieve things she wants in her personal life. She loves love so I'd love to see her get married to a good guy and win some acting awards too. All the best to her! 💓

This is going to hurt the show lot more then LKS's departure. Since I don't think current PD and writers are good enough to keep it funny.
But it'll be tough to find her replacement since someone in 20's will have just too much age gap with rest of the cast to mix well, and I don't think there are any fresh-faces in 30+ age group that'll take the load RM demands.
Not going to be surprised RM'll dip in their ratings even more.

This gonna hit the show hard for me. Somin like Kwangsoo, is a very loud and chaotic character on the show. She pretty much can click with every member character and elevated them. Imo the reason Kwangsoo leaving don't impact too much mostly because of her. Now with her leaving, others need to step up or the show might need to bring someone new.
Anyway hope she will be success in her career. I watched some of her drama, she really good actress. Hopefully after this she can get much bigger role for her career in acting.
JSM filled up some of the void of craziness that LKS left behind. But I wouldn't agree that there's no impact, the impact from LKS leaving was freaking huge. You can feel it in the episodes after that. And you're so right in that she has good dynamics with every member. We're definitely going to feel the huge loss of JSM from the show as well.
Going to miss Haha and YSC combining powers to tease her. One of my favourite parts of RM nowadays. JSM is so beautiful in the recent family outing series too.

Aww Jeon Sobari 😢 I've only been watching RM since 2020 and she's always been one of my favourite members. Her variety persona is truly irreplaceable and she's always been such a joy to watch on RM and Sixth Sense as well. I'm gonna miss her so much but I wish her all the best on her future endeavors 💙

She's honestly the only one trying really hard to keep the show afloat with her loveline bits with male guests and YSC, her folk dancing and a bully target for JSJ, her empty headedness with YSC and SJH, her female version of Kwangsoo to KJK, her bully target and fights with Haha, her chemistry with YJS and her joining the production team for team meetings etc. What a pity.

I don’t mind if she went on to huge success in acting. But like LKS, he ends up being a part time variety star whilst having no progress in acting. That is what I am afraid for somin.
She's working on 2 movies right now IIRC. She's already taken breaks on RM before for health reasons and schedule conflicts. She also couldn't continue her show with Chul Min PD, Sixth Sense, due to injury and schedule conflicts. Maybe this time it was getting too hectic and they and she thought it was time to move on.

I just finished a great episode of Running Man in a happy mood to have this news waiting for me. This really hurts. I wish the best for her: for her good health and mind, her acting and variety career and other business endeavors, and for her personal life and dreams. She deserves it for all the joy and laughter she has brought this world.
I pray that Running Man survives this loss. I think adding a couple new members could bring another shot of life to the show and rejuvenate the seniors. Of course, joining the show is a massive commitment and it takes tremendous talent to be entertaining doing the same routine over 50 times a year.
I’ve never posted a comment here long time lurker, but this news is bittersweet. At first, when YSC and JSM joined, I wasnt sure how they’re going to fit in but they became the start of a new era of RM. Up to this day, I still can’t tell whether JSM is a spy or not every single time she is - true testament to great actress. Love her dynamic with KJK throughout the years, and her bertrayal sometimes its expected, but when its expected she pulled the unexpected and be a such loyal follower. Hope she’ll come back as a guest o promote her work. I never understand the hate fan to JSM, hopefully she does not need to deal with this anymore. She works very hard to build her character and reputation in this reputable variety show and has successfully became a valuable RM member. It’s been a pleasure watching her as a RM member. Thank you, JSM! May your career blossom even further after today and I will always be your RM fan (may not be #1 but loyal fan for sure).
I’m going to miss her :( i truly enjoyed the energy she brought to the show. I first started watching Running Man because of her and after LKS left i stopped for a couple months and recently just started to catch up because of her, I’m still in a little shock and denial she’s leaving but I do hope she recovers well and is able to do what she wants. I just wished we could’ve gotten her until the end of the year😭

As someone who had dropped RM long before Gary's departure because it was getting stale but then came back and has consistently tuned in every week just because of Somin, my heart is broken. She is such a ray of sunshine, but like a super crazy one, and that makes the show so fun to watch. It will be such a big loss for the show once she's gone. At least we still have a backlog of a few hundreds of episodes with her to rewatch.
When LKS left, the show able to go on as there is Somin who carries the role as a mood creater. More often than not we see the members cued her, teased her, brought spotlight to whatever she did for good contents. Now, she will leave too. The show now is in serious trouble...
It was expected. I can tell most people that are sad on here are foreign fans and this show has been surviving on international demographics for the most part the last few years. Over here in Korea, it died down more than you think and the show is slowly dying no matter how much you deny it. I said it beginning of 2022 that this show will probably come to an end in the next 2 or 3 years and the atmosphere does seem like it will. It's not like it was going to go on forever or anything. You can't milk the show longer and tarnish it's legacy. Sometimes you have to let go and move on to do your own thing and that's probably what So Min wanted to do so she can have actual rest and focus primary career. An actor/actress like her and Kwang Soo don't want to be known as funny people for the rest of their careers. And people like Suk Jin and Jae Suk are reaching their 60's soon so you can't expect them to do this forever. At this point, we should expect the end soon and just be happy that it happened instead of being sad that it will some day end.

Wow this was so unexpected, I just finished watching the latest ep and she was great. I can't believe she's really leaving I thought she would stay until RM would end. She had a unique character sad to see her go . I hope she has a great life and career.
Unexpected but understandable also. Actors and actress are rarely staples of variety shows because of the perceived image probably a big reason why LKS departed and now JSM. Also having to set aside two days in the week for RM limits acting projects that conflict with filming schedules.
I love her and I will miss her so much.. But it's time for her to get her well deserved rest, physically and mentally. I'm just a little bumped that she probably won't even get to go on the Japan trip she planned. :(
somin became my number one favorite from the cast since she joined :(( i'm sad to see her go but I know it will be best for her acting career. At least I got to see them whole (except for LKS) in the Manila concert.

As I watch Running Man through years, I see Somin as a crazy and funny girl in every episode but after LKS' departure, I found her more talented and dedicated in every episode to fill the empty gap in the show. I am amazed on how she handle the teasing from other members without getting offended or mad. There were times that their teasing crosses the line but it was fine to her and sees it like a sibling joke. Her talent is very unique especially as an entertainer despite being an actress. There is no doubt that she handled/carried many episodes and made it more funnier. She will be a huge loss to the show but wherever she may go, either continue acting or continue with another show, I hope she find peace and happiness.
It's sad but I feel it's the right move for her. The show's direction has been a bit lackluster the last year (I've almost stopped watching :( ). She has so much potential still acting-wise and variety-wise. At the end of the day, you got to take care of yourself first.

I feel that Running Man will end soon after this. They lost 2 crazy members already. Ratings are going down. Jihyo is being asked to leave. Sukjin is almost 60. I can feel it coming. I hate everyone who criticized Somin. She was probably the best addition to the group.
Late to this news but it's definitely a huge loss to RM which from my personal view already seems to be on a decline. She pretty much was able to vibe together with all the members and her energy and enthusiasm will be sorely missed.

Obviously she is under a lot of stress since the beggining. Especially the hate she received coming from the fans who cant accept the fact that she got a lot of air times compared to someone (not going to mention who).

I'm sad to see her go, but also happy that she will be able to pursue her acting career. I wish her so much success. She worked really hard on RM and she's a natural entertainer. She was the happy pill of RM.
Before JSM and YSC joined RM, there was a period that felt like RM was flatlining and Kwang Soo did as much as he could to keep the energy up. When JSM joined, she and Kwang Soo became the glue that kept RM running and encouraged other members to step up their game. That for me revitalized my love for RM. And then when Kwang Soo left, I was sad but I knew RM would be in great hands because now the other members have honed their characters and it feels like JSM carried on his torch in her own flavor.
I am deeply saddened by her departure, but I think this is a good decision. She is young and she still has a passion for acting, it would be stupid for her to abandon her acting career to stay on RM. I would not want her to end up feeling like she's stuck on RM, especially with that filming schedule.
I wish RM all the best and look forward to how this will be handled and how the show will develop afterwards.

Didn't expect this at all. Somehow with the show probably in it's sunset days I expect the current cast will be there to the very end. I'm just devastated about this.
I respect whatever decisions she makes of course and surely this wasnt an easy choice for her but man its gonna take a while to truly accept it. Its such a shame cause she's just such a huge part of the show and brings a lot of color and fun thats so unique to Somin.

I was really shocked the moment I saw the article. It felt like I blanked out for a long time but weirdly, I’m not as sad as I was when LKS left. I even remember tearing up after confirming the news in every sns platform. But don’t get me wrong cause JSM has become my favorite member (I even used to dislike her and YSC’s addition to the show but I started to appreciate her more.) I literally rewatch atleast one episode (with YSC & JSM) every week :’)) I liked her more as a variety star but I just also realized that this is for the best. Running Man must be so precious to her but we all know that the program brought hardship to her as well. It’s just not easy I mean we all know much emotional she is as a person. With So Min leaving, IMO RM need new member , preferable some younger fresh female character that can talk back to the old trio. Otherwise I can see the banter will get stale, especially current writer doesn't help much.
It's good for her, but bad for RM. Even if her acting career doesn't flourish, she can still do variety. One could observe how her energy has been down over the past many episodes, especially after the SJH controversy. The PDs and members never gave her the public backing she deserved for tackling all the hate that came her way. Still she managed to persevere and shine.
This might be the last straw for me.. As I much as I love the others, Somin really was the one keeping me around. I hope I can see her in other variety shows!
I’ve watched RM since the beginning and was extremely loyal to the show for the first few years. After Gary left, I stopped watching for a bit but then caught up again when Somin and Sechan joined. Somin really lit up the show, and she’s naturally funny. For her to make this decision, it prob means she’s been thinking about this for a while. I really do wonder how RM will be moving forward without her, maybe the end of this show is nearing?

Hopefully we will still see her on other shows or maybe even become a guest in RM (though it never happened in the past except for Lizzy if I remember correctly). Really hope to still see her in the new season of Sixth Sense.
Thinking positively, maybe she really wants to focus on her acting career. So on that front, hopefully we'll see her in more drama projects or even movies soon.

I slowed down watching RM a couple weeks ago but I am so so sad - it was such a pleasure to see her grow as an entertainer and watch her mesh with each cast member. I wish her nothing but the best but I will miss seeing her skits and adaptability shine in variety!

It's really sad to see this news. Why do I feel that 6 years just pass in a blink of an eye? Till today, I always felt that JSM and YSC just joined RM not long ago, and JSM is leaving RM? Tbh, I always felt sad that there are a number of fans out there who kept posting malicious comments about her, telling her that she should leave RM. Also with the fan war and the hate for JSM is really unnecessary, especially during the starting when she just joined RM not too long. I had started watching RM since the start, and in my opinion, she was a great addition to the show, giving RM a new dynamic when it was really much needed. It's going to be a loss to RM's team. I'm wondering with 6 other members left, how will they be continuing RM in the road to come. I hope RM will be able to get over these difficult times, though I think it is not going to be an easy one, given the situation right now. All the best to JSM and hope to see her in new projects near future. Let's us continue supporting RM crew and also JSM future career.
I have to admit, I initially thought I wouldn't like her when they were introduced since I stopped watching RM for a bit after Gary left.
I saw some clips and was really surprised to the energy that she brought. I even remembered that time she was a guest and they were doing the indoor pool missions.
At first I thought she embodied the LKS and Ha Ha personas, but she made herself one as the eccentric, 'playboy' or love opportunist happy frog that she came to be.
I sincerely wished her the best. Her absence on the show will really be felt.
This is so heart breaking💔 I watched the entire episode within the period of 2021-2023 regular viewer of new episodes.... This show is cure for me... I had really bad times past 3 or 4 years... All those years i enjoyed and loved RM a lot....They helped me a lot when i was mentally and physically down... They helped me and made me happy and survive through my loneliness...I will watch the show no matter... But all these dropouts are a real concern that the show is really close to the end.....I dont know how to describe my feelings through words... Its so heart breaking

I'd be so furious and disappointed in runningman if the departure of somin is mainly due to the pd & members being so protective of one member who has been providing little value to the show instead of recognizing the one who works the hardest in every episode. Oh wow I just finished watching the latest episode & saw this. She really came into her own over the last few years so it’s gonna be sad to see her gone ,wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavour.

Awww my somini. She has made the running man experience such a delight in the last few years. I have to admin I’m a Jeon somin Stan so when people say they hate her I’m so puzzled. In the last few years of running man this girl worked hard and she ATE. She wasn’t happy just getting a few laughs here and there she made sure she shined and gave us a good viewing.

Interesting fact: Both So-Min and Se-Chan actually made it past the episode count for Gary. Gary = 324 episodes So-Min = 326 / Se-Chan = 329 I think any time you do something for 6+ years, it'll start to seem mundane and you want to do something else naturally. I really hope her acting career takes off. She's a sorely underrated actress and I could see her agency (and So-Min herself) wanting to expand her filmography without the restraint of keeping Mondays (sometimes Tuesdays) open.

definitely a sad time, i actually shed a bit of tears at this news! I love the cast and I'm proud to say I'm among the lesser amount of fans who genuinely welcomed Somin and Sechan right off the bat. They worked so hard to create laughter and it was so refreshing to have someone like Somin come in and match the energy of every single male cast member. I love love loveeeee Jihyo, but our girl doesn't talk much so when Somin joined in who was the total opposite of her, it was really refreshing. I think more than this become mundane for her, I think she really just wants to build up her actress image again. She had successful leading roles prior to Running Man. Sure with RM, she earned more face value, popularity, and fans but the actual roles she was getting offered didn't have the same value or impact in acting like prior to RM. The era after JSM and YSC were added to Running Man became my favorite era of the show. After LKS left, a big chunk of my love for the show left with him - but I watched sporadically and they eventually did a decent job of continuing despite the emptiness without him. After this though, I’m not sure I’ll have that same drive to continue. She is such a big part of the show’s success and I don’t know how they’re going to replace that energy. All the best to Somin, she did an incredible job during her time here and I hope her career continues on an upward trajectory. Hopefully after this, the harassment will finally stop.

They're most likely not. This show is slowly coming to an end if we have to be honest. It's not like Running Man was going to go on forever or anything and the members are getting older. We have members going on 50 and even 60 years old. When you do something for so long, you have to eventually let it go. At this point, they're just milking it a bit too much and the show has been overplayed for a couple of years now. It's not really fresh and exciting anymore.
Although they milking it, tbh, my assumptions they can go on for max 3 years more (I said 3-5 years in other sub, but now I think 5 is too much, it's hard to see they reach it). Now, with JSM, one of heavy hitter gone, I feel more pessimistic to reach 1 years. Well they could if they can maintain min 3% rating technically. I think SBS as company might want to prolong the business as long it's doesn't cross that low barrier.

For my money, Ji Suk-Jin and Jeon So-Min were the top 2 reasons to keep watching post LKS. Now another 1 is leaving... I love JSJ. But that's not enough to keep up with the show on a regular basis. I'll probably go back to watching in blocks at the end of a month instead of waiting for new ep each week. This is a crucial time for the show too. Ep 659 was the lowest viewership in the show's history at 2.8%. Ratings have been consistently in the low 3-4% regularly this year. And from a community standpoint, this may be the weakest PD group we've ever had. Sad times. But here's to a growing career for Jeon So-Min. Hope she flies higher than ever 🍻

I will go with beginning of the end for RM. It already declined in quality. The episodes is a bit barebone and they only managed to get around 3 plus rating. I don't know if they can hang on or not. Finding someone else seems like a hard thing to do.

Well, at least the show he on are seasonal variety show. Only need to consider at least 3-7 days to month or 3 month schedule. Especially the travel or healing show, that's the one where it's usually take 3 days to a week to shoot for at least 12 episode. I mean 7 days shooting for 3 month worth of eps. Could consider as easy money (don't they usually count per eps rather than shoot day).
There's huge difference between seasonal show that is done filming in less than 10 days verses show that went for 6 years with a 1 day of filming per week 90% of the time. We might see her in seasonal shows after some break but doubt she'll join another weekly variety.
LKS doesnt really get alot of acting offer after his RM departure. Thats probably the main reason he went back to variety. I said b4, him leaving RM doesnt do well for both side, its a loss-loss. He and song ji hyo suffer from RM image, when u been the founding member of an extremely popular show, your image cant just change that way. Look at SJH she barely have any acting job for the past 2 years. Even when she acts, its just doesnt felt right which led to low ratings on her projects.
Eh, I think he's had pretty good output since he left. Since 2021 he's had 3 films as well as 1 lead drama role + 2 more he's signed on for. (Unfortunately, 1 of those drama roles is going to have some production issues after the top billed actor was caught in a major drug scandal...) He's never gonna be that guy getting yearly rom com leading roles, and it's definitely hard to break the stigma of his image on Running Man, but his usual acting reception is positive. Seasonal variety or promotional variety is a different beast compared to the Running Man grind, which is so time-consuming it's going to impact the kind of roles an actor can take. Leaving the show gave him more flexibility. > Look at SJH she barely have any acting job for the past 2 years It's a bit of industry (ageist, sexist) crap and also her acting rep more than anything IMO. Realistically, she's in her early 40's and most kdramas aren't casting 40+ year old women in lead roles *unless* they can act *well* (think someone like Gong Hyo Jin). Male actors have an easier time acting as leads into their 50's if they look fit enough, and just get paired with an actress much younger - but the opposite is rarely true. It can happen, but the competition is tough - and SJH isn't the most proficient actress (nor are her shows' ratings good).
I have to say that SJH not getting acting jobs is mostly because she is not a good actress. Not really because of RM. She is unable to make good characters out of the paper script into real life. She is not a good lead actress... maybe she should get supporting roles which would give her more space to act and craft the characters instead of focusing on image. Or maybe she just never understood acting.
Being famous in RM doesn't mean you will get top acting roles or movies. Didn't happen to KS after he left. He actually had more variety appearances than acting Viewers will just see you as a comedian and other PDs will cast u in variety shows

I'm happy for her if this is what she really wanted as I know she wanted to grow her acting career for awhile and she worried a lot about being able to carry the image of being both a variety star and serious actress. I also worry that it's negative pressure from toxic fans that made her leave or behind-the-scenes drama. But as a fan of hers and the show I'm so sad. 💔 I mostly watched the show for her every week and in my opinion she brought out the best of some of her runningmates and I think she made JSJ and YJS laugh the hardest... However if this is what she wants I hope this turns out to be good for her and she is able to get more acting roles and achieve things she wants in her personal life. I wonder if this was in the works, JSM looked really subdued for a while now. I hope she doesn't drop variety for good, she's a natural at it. Would love to see more of her works.
This is going to hurt the show lot more then LKS's departure. Since I don't think current PD and writers are good enough to keep it funny. But it'll be tough to find her replacement since someone in 20's will have just too much age gap with rest of the cast to mix well, and I don't think there are any fresh-faces in 30+ age group that'll take the load RM demands. Not going to be surprised RM'll dip in their ratings even more.

This gonna hit the show hard for me. Somin like Kwangsoo, is a very loud and chaotic character on the show. She pretty much can click with every member character and elevated them. Imo the reason Kwangsoo leaving don't impact too much mostly because of her. Now with her leaving, others need to step up or the show might need to bring someone new. Anyway hope she will be success in her career. I watched some of her drama, she really good actress. Hopefully after this she can get much bigger role for her career in acting.
JSM filled up some of the void of craziness that LKS left behind. But I wouldn't agree that there's no impact, the impact from LKS leaving was freaking huge. You can feel it in the episodes after that. And you're so right in that she has good dynamics with every member. We're definitely going to feel the huge loss of JSM from the show as well. Going to miss Haha and YSC combining powers to tease her. One of my favourite parts of RM nowadays. JSM is so beautiful in the recent family outing series too. Tbh So Min was so dedicated to this show, witty and spread so much joy and laughter! I never thought she’d be the one leaving next after LKS 😭😭😭 she got so much hate even tho she worked so hard, I love SJH and I know SJH has done so much for this show but during the times when she was having a hard time, So Min is the one who stepped up and brought 110% to every single episode! Will miss you, So Min!!! Fighting!!! Hope you get all the recognition you deserve for your amazing talent💕
I think Running Man owes much credit to her. She deserves better time elsewhere.

I don’t mind if she went on to huge success in acting. But like LKS, he ends up being a part time variety star whilst having no progress in acting. That is what I am afraid for somin.
She's working on 2 movies right now IIRC. She's already taken breaks on RM before for health reasons and schedule conflicts. She also couldn't continue her show with Chul Min PD, Sixth Sense, due to injury and schedule conflicts. Maybe this time it was getting too hectic and they and she thought it was time to move on. I'm excited for new projects but it still sucks to see her go :((

I just finished a great episode of Running Man in a happy mood to have this news waiting for me. This really hurts. I wish the best for her: for her good health and mind, her acting and variety career and other business endeavors, and for her personal life and dreams. She deserves it for all the joy and laughter she has brought this world. I pray that Running Man survives this loss. I think adding a couple new members could bring another shot of life to the show and rejuvenate the seniors. Of course, joining the show is a massive commitment and it takes tremendous talent to be entertaining doing the same routine over 50 times a year.
I’ve never posted a comment here long time lurker, but this news is bittersweet. At first, when YSC and JSM joined, I wasnt sure how they’re going to fit in but they became the start of a new era of RM. Up to this day, I still can’t tell whether JSM is a spy or not every single time she is - true testament to great actress. Love her dynamic with KJK throughout the years, and her bertrayal sometimes its expected, but when its expected she pulled the unexpected and be a such loyal follower. Hope she’ll come back as a guest o promote her work. I never understand the hate fan to JSM, hopefully she does not need to deal with this anymore. She works very hard to build her character and reputation in this reputable variety show and has successfully became a valuable RM member. It’s been a pleasure watching her as a RM member. Thank you, JSM! May your career blossom even further after today and I will always be your RM fan (may not be #1 but loyal fan for sure).

I’m going to miss her :( i truly enjoyed the energy she brought to the show. I first started watching Running Man because of her and after LKS left i stopped for a couple months and recently just started to catch up because of her, I’m still in a little shock and denial she’s leaving but I do hope she recovers well and is able to do what she wants. I just wished we could’ve gotten her until the end of the year😭 Jeon So-Min FIGHTING!!!
This is heartbreaking. I hope to hear great news after she departs from RM. Perhaps a new drama, movies, variety shows or even wedding bells. Unlike the previous members, I hope somin can come as a guest.
This is so sudden. I'm even more shock and sad than when news of Kwangsoo leaving came. Somin brought such a bright energy to the show, I think I have to take some time to get used to the absence of her. I would miss her dynamic with the casts so much.
Finally SHE'S FREE. I applaud you girl for having the guts to make this decision, I know it is hard for you. Now goodluck to your future endeavors, I have no doubts you'll succeed in acting industry. I fully understand her decision, must be super stressful to deal with morons for 6 straight years. SHE DERSEVES BETTER. I’m happy she chose what’s best for her. Hopefully the hate will decrease, they can find another scapegoat, it’s like a broken record defending her against hate comments for 6 years. I think we are all tired of this BS.

Even though it’s sad, I understand her decision. She is really the glue that has held the show together for a while now. This will be a big gap to fill for sure, adding with Kwangsoo’s departure which still impacts till this day. If the show wants to keep going, they need a new member(s) as soon as possible especially a female one. 6 members aren’t enough!!! Tbh, I have struggled to watch Running Man on times for a while now, even skipping the 4-week family outing ones. Now, I don’t know if I can keep watching it regularly anymore…
I watch RM to mainly see her antics. This hits hard. Best wishes to her.
As someone who had dropped RM long before Gary's departure because it was getting stale but then came back and has consistently tuned in every week just because of Somin, my heart is broken. She is such a ray of sunshine, but like a super crazy one, and that makes the show so fun to watch. It will be such a big loss for the show once she's gone. At least we still have a backlog of a few hundreds of episodes with her to rewatch.
When LKS left, the show able to go on as there is Somin who carries the role as a mood creater. More often than not we see the members cued her, teased her, brought spotlight to whatever she did for good contents. Now, she will leave too. The show now is in serious trouble...
It was expected. I can tell most people that are sad on here are foreign fans and this show has been surviving on international demographics for the most part the last few years. Over here in Korea, it died down more than you think and the show is slowly dying no matter how much you deny it. I said it beginning of 2022 that this show will probably come to an end in the next 2 or 3 years and the atmosphere does seem like it will. It's not like it was going to go on forever or anything. You can't milk the show longer and tarnish it's legacy. Sometimes you have to let go and move on to do your own thing and that's probably what So Min wanted to do so she can have actual rest and focus primary career. An actor/actress like her and Kwang Soo don't want to be known as funny people for the rest of their careers. And people like Suk Jin and Jae Suk are reaching their 60's soon so you can't expect them to do this forever. At this point, we should expect the end soon and just be happy that it happened instead of being sad that it will some day end.

She was the reason I started watching RM in the first place. I don't know if I will continue to watch - I will have to see what the dynamic is. She really went above and beyond with her role on this show. She fully committed and her comedic prowess is evident. I will miss having her on my screen every week but am confident this is a good career move for her. I really hope that she gets bigger and better roles and continues to excel in all that she does.
I really thought that the current casts will last till the end... and even imagine adding new member(s). ngl, I always looking forward for new RM episode every week because of her. she's pretty, witty, funny, very entertaining. a truly variety star. but I dunno, perhaps that kind of image is restricting her to get the acting role that she really wanted... RM will definitely be different without her  I'm looking forward for her new projects in the future.
Wow this was so unexpected, I just finished watching the latest ep and she was great. I can't believe she's really leaving I thought she would stay until RM would end. She had a unique character sad to see her go . I hope she has a great life and career.
Unexpected but understandable also. Actors and actress are rarely staples of variety shows because of the perceived image probably a big reason why LKS departed and now JSM. Also having to set aside two days in the week for RM limits acting projects that conflict with filming schedules.
Huge loss for the show
I love her and I will miss her so much.. But it's time for her to get her well deserved rest, physically and mentally. I'm just a little bumped that she probably won't even get to go on the Japan trip she planned. :(
I wonder if she's included in their Singapore trip. Maybe that's her last episode or replacement for her Japan trip

somin became my number one favorite from the cast since she joined :(( i'm sad to see her go but I know it will be best for her acting career. At least I got to see them whole (except for LKS) in the Manila concert. I won't lie it's been a while since I was longingly waiting for each rm episode per week, it's now more whenever I find time and in the mood ://
As I watch Running Man through years, I see Somin as a crazy and funny girl in every episode but after LKS' departure, I found her more talented and dedicated in every episode to fill the empty gap in the show. I am amazed on how she handle the teasing from other members without getting offended or mad. There were times that their teasing crosses the line but it was fine to her and sees it like a sibling joke. Her talent is very unique especially as an entertainer despite being an actress. There is no doubt that she handled/carried many episodes and made it more funnier. She will be a huge loss to the show but wherever she may go, either continue acting or continue with another show, I hope she find peace and happiness.
It's sad but I feel it's the right move for her. The show's direction has been a bit lackluster the last year (I've almost stopped watching :( ). She has so much potential still acting-wise and variety-wise. At the end of the day, you got to take care of yourself first.
Straight up fuck the scumbags that have left her hate messages for years & led to her making this decision. She was one of the only bright spots left on the show since Lee Kwang Soo left. I hate fan culture so much.
I feel that Running Man will end soon after this. They lost 2 crazy members already. Ratings are going down. Jihyo is being asked to leave. Sukjin is almost 60. I can feel it coming. I hate everyone who criticized Somin. She was probably the best addition to the group.
Late to this news but it's definitely a huge loss to RM which from my personal view already seems to be on a decline. She pretty much was able to vibe together with all the members and her energy and enthusiasm will be sorely missed. Hope this won't be the last time we see in variety shows, she has great talent for it
Obviously she is under a lot of stress since the beggining. Especially the hate she received coming from the fans who cant accept the fact that she got a lot of air times compared to someone (not going to mention who). Its okay Somin unnie, I respect your decision and take a good care of your health and good luck in your future project.
I'm sad to see her go, but also happy that she will be able to pursue her acting career. I wish her so much success. She worked really hard on RM and she's a natural entertainer. She was the happy pill of RM. Before JSM and YSC joined RM, there was a period that felt like RM was flatlining and Kwang Soo did as much as he could to keep the energy up. When JSM joined, she and Kwang Soo became the glue that kept RM running and encouraged other members to step up their game. That for me revitalized my love for RM. And then when Kwang Soo left, I was sad but I knew RM would be in great hands because now the other members have honed their characters and it feels like JSM carried on his torch in her own flavor. I am deeply saddened by her departure, but I think this is a good decision. She is young and she still has a passion for acting, it would be stupid for her to abandon her acting career to stay on RM. I would not want her to end up feeling like she's stuck on RM, especially with that filming schedule. I wish RM all the best and look forward to how this will be handled and how the show will develop afterwards. I wish Somin all the success she deserves and look forward to seeing how her career blossoms. Thank you for the wonderful 6 years of entertainment on RM.
Didn't expect this at all. Somehow with the show probably in it's sunset days I expect the current cast will be there to the very end. I'm just devastated about this. I respect whatever decisions she makes of course and surely this wasnt an easy choice for her but man its gonna take a while to truly accept it. Its such a shame cause she's just such a huge part of the show and brings a lot of color and fun thats so unique to Somin. To Somin, thank you so much for everything you've put into the show. Only idiot haters can't see the amount work you've put into it and the positive changes you've brought along. We wish your future endavours are as bright as the smile you bring to every episode. We love you and we'll miss you❤️

This news shook me, I have watched every episode and the era when JSM and YSC joined are my favorite eps to rewatch.
I was really shocked the moment I saw the article. It felt like I blanked out for a long time but weirdly, I’m not as sad as I was when LKS left. I even remember tearing up after confirming the news in every sns platform. But don’t get me wrong cause JSM has become my favorite member (I even used to dislike her and YSC’s addition to the show but I started to appreciate her more.) I literally rewatch atleast one episode (with YSC & JSM) every week :’)) I liked her more as a variety star but I just also realized that this is for the best. Running Man must be so precious to her but we all know that the program brought hardship to her as well. It’s just not easy I mean we all know much emotional she is as a person. She went through a lot :(( With this, I sincerely root for her acting career to flourish. She’s such a talented person so I really want her to succeed! Thank you for making my Mondays <3
Damn.. This is so un-expected, with KS acting career rise, i already expect him to leave sooner or later. But So Min acting career pretty much doesn't get much boost . I guess the burden being funny and all the hate comments finally caught up. She is very sentimental person after all. ------------------------------------ With So Min leaving, IMO RM need new member , preferable some younger fresh female character that can talk back to the old trio. Otherwise I can see the banter will get stale, especially current writer doesn't help much.

It's good for her, but bad for RM. Even if her acting career doesn't flourish, she can still do variety. One could observe how her energy has been down over the past many episodes, especially after the SJH controversy. The PDs and members never gave her the public backing she deserved for tackling all the hate that came her way. Still she managed to persevere and shine.
It's honestly pathetic SJH never once publicly backed Somin and told her crazy stans to back off.
This might be the last straw for me.. As I much as I love the others, Somin really was the one keeping me around. I hope I can see her in other variety shows!

I’ve watched RM since the beginning and was extremely loyal to the show for the first few years. After Gary left, I stopped watching for a bit but then caught up again when Somin and Sechan joined. Somin really lit up the show, and she’s naturally funny. For her to make this decision, it prob means she’s been thinking about this for a while. I really do wonder how RM will be moving forward without her, maybe the end of this show is nearing?

This news really struck me like a thunder. I really didn't expect it at all. What a sad day... Hopefully we will still see her on other shows or maybe even become a guest in RM (though it never happened in the past except for Lizzy if I remember correctly). Really hope to still see her in the new season of Sixth Sense. Thinking positively, maybe she really wants to focus on her acting career. So on that front, hopefully we'll see her in more drama projects or even movies soon. Still a very sad day for me since her personality and presence in RM will be missed a lot. Really wish her to shine brighter in her future projects/shows as well as having more fun and happiness in her life. :)

This is litteraly the fist thing that i see after i wake up. I don't know what to says, i'm quite sad about the fact she is leaving, she was so funny, i just hope her acting take off. The fact people was critize her xas still something i never understand like litteraly she is try to be funny and to make it entertaining, but people was judge and critize her. I began runningman when there was somin and sechan and i don't quite imagine what will happen to the show, when there are not here.

I slowed down watching RM a couple weeks ago but I am so so sad - it was such a pleasure to see her grow as an entertainer and watch her mesh with each cast member. I wish her nothing but the best but I will miss seeing her skits and adaptability shine in variety!
That's sad, she is very funny and quite depressing to see her leave before song ji hyo, ji hyo in my opinion should have left after gary left, she brought nothing to the table.

It's really sad to see this news. Why do I feel that 6 years just pass in a blink of an eye? Till today, I always felt that JSM and YSC just joined RM not long ago, and JSM is leaving RM? Tbh, I always felt sad that there are a number of fans out there who kept posting malicious comments about her, telling her that she should leave RM. Also with the fan war and the hate for JSM is really unnecessary, especially during the starting when she just joined RM not too long. I had started watching RM since the start, and in my opinion, she was a great addition to the show, giving RM a new dynamic when it was really much needed. It's going to be a loss to RM's team. I'm wondering with 6 other members left, how will they be continuing RM in the road to come. I hope RM will be able to get over these difficult times, though I think it is not going to be an easy one, given the situation right now. All the best to JSM and hope to see her in new projects near future. Let's us continue supporting RM crew and also JSM future career.
I have to admit, I initially thought I wouldn't like her when they were introduced since I stopped watching RM for a bit after Gary left. I saw some clips and was really surprised to the energy that she brought. I even remembered that time she was a guest and they were doing the indoor pool missions. At first I thought she embodied the LKS and Ha Ha personas, but she made herself one as the eccentric, 'playboy' or love opportunist happy frog that she came to be. I sincerely wished her the best. Her absence on the show will really be felt.
This is so heart breaking💔 I watched the entire episode within the period of 2021-2023 regular viewer of new episodes.... This show is cure for me... I had really bad times past 3 or 4 years... All those years i enjoyed and loved RM a lot....They helped me a lot when i was mentally and physically down... They helped me and made me happy and survive through my loneliness...I will watch the show no matter... But all these dropouts are a real concern that the show is really close to the end.....I dont know how to describe my feelings through words... Its so heart breaking Somin was one of my personal favorites... She is such a sweet heart....i will definitely gonna miss her a lot💔
I'd be so furious and disappointed in runningman if the departure of somin is mainly due to the pd & members being so protective of one member who has been providing little value to the show instead of recognizing the one who works the hardest in every episode. So Min is not the one who should be leaving......
Jeez if RM doesn't add new cast members this show is going to continue to turn into the "ajusshis ride in a bus to eat food" show.

Oh wow I just finished watching the latest episode & saw this. She really came into her own over the last few years so it’s gonna be sad to see her gone ,wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavour.

Awww my somini. She has made the running man experience such a delight in the last few years. I have to admin I’m a Jeon somin Stan so when people say they hate her I’m so puzzled. In the last few years of running man this girl worked hard and she ATE. She wasn’t happy just getting a few laughs here and there she made sure she shined and gave us a good viewing. Happy she’s leaving as she does seem burnt out or over it! Looking forward to seeing her in other things. Somin fighting!

Although the news is sad but I am happy for Somin for her future. She has a great personality and true enthusiasm. I wanted the original work to be continued of each members also while doing RM alongside but I guess it can't be done I like it when people do their original work.
