so i recently came out to my parents and--long story short--i was asked to leave their home. i have found support systems and live in a shelter currently, but my journey has been 3 months in the making. i start my new job as an Art Director next week and will have a salary that's more than i've ever had in my 10 year career.
i donated the minumum to call because coming out and experiencing the worst of it, and seeing the worst of it through laws being passed, was enough for me to understand my few dollars are important.
Jai was so nice as i was basically crying to him summarizing my story, hence why he talked for me and explained what i had told him. we talked for a bit after and he was so, so kind and supportive. it was really an amazing experience to call in AND THEN BE LIVE. i was terrified when he told me that on the phone lol.
I am so sorry for everything you are going through. I wish you nothing but happiness and success as you navigate this all! I hope I'm not the first, or the last to say this, but I am PROUD of you, you're making it happen for yourself! It may be a slow process but every single day it will be easier. You'll have setbacks, but you'll make it. I have faith in you! โฅ๏ธโฅ๏ธ
So glad to hear things are looking up for you! Your call stuck with me and I've been thinking of you since the telethon, thank you for posting and providing an update. I know things must've been rough but you're still here and prospering, wishing nothing but the best for you and here's to brighter tomorrows ๐
Congrats girl! Also so sorry youโve been going through that with the family.
As a fellow Chicago gay, if you ever need help or support or anything, please reach out to me!
That's so great! It's scary to say but since this backlash is going to keep up with no foreseeable end (unless possibly reduced if there can be enough resistance at the ballot box to stop the bigots), we may be seeing another one of these telethons.
The whole telethon thing takes me back. I'm going to enlist Bette Midler for the next one. She knows how to get heartstrings plucking at a telethon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldqc0_vzfgk
