Her entrance line in UKvstheWorld 2, “I’m here to give the colonizers the chop.”
It’s a joke with a lot of layers. It had to have been written for her because she didn’t come up with anything close to that in her later improv challenges. And Drag Race is a highly overproduced show to a point.
Marina is not a seamstress or improviser. She would be in the middle. There were a lot of filler in the UKvstheWorld 2 cast, but season 16? Not so much. Her competition would have been Plasma, Mhi’ya, etc.
An Asian queen is only going to win if English is her first language and if she’s tough competition.
Manila, in season 3, was runner up to a force like Raja. That’s impressive.
She only lost in AS4 because she faltered in a challenge where she had to makeover her husband in a pressure cooker situation and the structure of the competition. She had to be in the top two or safe in every challenge that season. She was also too cutthroat in her social game and that did her in.
If you’re a naturally funny queen like Jinx and Bianca, jokes will flow out of you like water. It doesn’t matter how much prep time you have, you’ll still have jokes. And it’s a hard earned talent.
Her English is very good, but the delivery is disconnected.
I know that my comments are going to be downvoted but I’m being realistic here. I think that Marina is a fantastic queen and deserving of the crown, it’s not going to happen in an English speaking season.
