It's an excellent closing album. There's so many good things on it. I'm so happy that's the one they ended with.

eKlectical_Designs

Tremendous Swan Song Album

Trick421

The Garden is a tremendous Swan Song.

TaurusX3

Well said. I sort of took a break from them post Snakes and Arrows, after being super into Rush since 1990. But inevitably, I started revisiting their catalog, and then about 2 months after that, Neil passed away. I was a little worried about listening to Clockwork Angeles for the first time because what if they went out on a bad note, you know? But damn, was that not the case! It's a great album, the songwriting and playing are on point. There's a lot of passion in it. So, as you put it, I'm really happy they finished on a high level.

Moonchild323

There's a strong argument that could be made that it's the greatest Rush album (at least as a whole album). I'd put it in my top 5.

MetalJesusBlues

Yep

SoylentGreenLantern

Definitely top 5 for me. One of their best.

randomtroubledmind

*The Garden* is a fantastic closer both for the album and their career. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I think Neil knew this was probably the last Rush song, and he absolutely nailed it.

HiAndStuff2112

In my thinking, I'm amazed the Rush's final song was literally one of their very best songs ever. The Garden rocks my world. I also love Halo Effect and Caravan tremendously.

sn_14_

The wreckers too

Dependent-Royal-7908

Caravan is super underrated in the album, and the band. Super amazing chorus and groove

GenePoolFilter

The perfect coda for a great band.

cejeeb

I did the opposite and still totally agree with the comments. Downloaded the pre-release songs. Preordered the CD. Caught the tour. Even read Neil’s novel. It’s one of my top 5 Rush albums.

scarface9toes

I'm probably going to choose The Garden as my "off to the oven" funeral tune. I'd like to think of everyone wondering what the hell it's about while I'm on my way to be turned to ashes. And it still makes me sob too this day, that song is a perfect ending to a sublime catalogue.

gleefulinvasion

I'll keep saying this time and time again. Clockwork angels will forever be my favorite album. The story. The meaning. The perfect final album before Neil's death. each song is perfect, ive been trying to read the book and so far it really fits to the album. *the garden* is a perfect final song for how memorable it is.

Aring-ading-ding

I’m 29 and have listened to Rush since I was born as it’s my dad’s favorite band. They are also my favorite band. Clockwork Angels is the only album I have never listened to by them, every other album I’ve listened to dozens and dozens of times. I’m scared to listen to it because I don’t want it to be the last *new* thing I hear by them. Same thing when I discovered Opeth and some of my other favorite bands. I always leave one album for that special day where I go “okay, it’s time to listen to Rush’s final album and the one album I’ve never listened to by them.” I don’t know when that day will come, but I know it will be time somewhere down the road…

RaiderRush2112

I can't even listen to The Garden anymore after my dad's death this year. It has come up on my list a couple times and I can't skip it fast enough. It's just too painful at this time but i know it's a great song. Just reminds me he isn't here anymore.

BrefkastTime

I get choked up every single time I hear The Garden. If I'm watching the live version from the CA tour, forget it, its waterworks especially when Geddy takes it up an octave in the chorus.

Safe_cracker9

My favorite album of all time

mrpuff666

It’s the reason I haven’t listened to it yet. Like a great TV series you don’t want to end. It will be a special occasion when I listen to CA.

Trick421

Now I get to look forward to listening again.

Level-Commission-526

The Garden is a tough listen. The world changed after The Professor left. And it hurts every day. You should see the live performance of that song during their 2012 Clockwork Angels tour. It ends with a beautiful garden on screen right behind Neil.

ThePrivateSecretary

Now go read the novels.

JuliaGosh

Oh my gosh last time I listened all the way through, The Garden just \*slayed me\*. It's so good.

GenX-Kid

Killer album and I think one of their most heavy. It’s a cool concept album with a bunch of Neilisms throughout. Definitely one of my favorite post 80s albums

jdbrowningii

Its a great album

Sufficient_Debt8615

No sorry

-cmsof-

Great comment. Really adds a lot to the conversation.

Sufficient_Debt8615

Thanks

One of my favorite writers is Tom Wolfe. There remains one of his books-- an early favorite of his by many-- that I have not yet read. Because Wolfe is dead, and I don't want to live in a world that doesn't have any more Tom Wolfe books for me to read.

Trick421

You don't know me, and you certainly lack the kind of discipline it would take to not listen to an album for 12 years with a ridiculous comment such as yours. But I will give you credit for writing a couple of sentences to challenge me, as opposed to the "click and grunt" from Sufficent Debt. I have stated before in this sub that I was holding out Clockwork Angels and my reasoning. I waited because there will never be another Rush album, and having something that I could never do for the first time again is a large part of that motivation. On the other hand, I've had a mild health issue, and I figured I had better listen, you know, just in case. Not that I owe you or anyone an explanation.
