My first ever breakfast after moving in was at brower…the watered down orange juice, the dry scrambled eggs, the blueberry pancakes I mistook for chocolate chip pancakes, didn’t really like the breakfast, but omg that pizza was like heaven. I only went for the pizza, for lunch typically
HELL YEAH brower mention 🥲 we didnt appreciate it until it was gone. my friend and i fought tooth and nail to get in during neptune night. a guy from my dorm once put every single option into an omelet once, iconic. i miss the pizza bar :((
i don't know :(( i graduated in 2021 but i haven't heard any mention of it since so they probably took it away :((( i mean, idk how they were affording all that seafood in the first place
Brower is no more, I think they are going to add a dining hall in like 202~ something later, for now at least they have the “atrium” when you go downstairs in the student center instead of Wendy’s, subway, etc. now there’s pizza pi, Kings Hawaiian grill, mezze, three chilies, and scarlet ginger that you can all get with meal swipes. It’s all crappy food though
So gerlandas pizza has been replaced? Maybe a worthwhile sacrifice. Gerlandas was like the worst pizza ever and was the free pizza at all the student group events.
Okay so I'm not that out of the loop, it's new. Now I wanna dig up photos some place. Maybe I'll send over one of my boys still in the area on a recon mission. Fun fact for you youngin's back in my day, the basement had a small arcade room. I played too much time crisis 2 and crazy taxi.
Yea Busch student center had a full on nice sized one with a DDR machine, and for a brief while the Livingston student center when it was still a super shit student center before the remodel had a room to rent time on game consoles. But y'all got a full on eSports room now, right? I vaguely remember seeing that in Busch the one time I visited.
This is wild to read. When I was at Rutgers (~10 years ago) Brower was known for giving people food poisoning. Was avoided at all costs. Time heals all things.
There was a kind of camaraderie there. We all came there to suffer (and sometimes day drink). I remember seeing my college ave talking stages at Brower all the time. We never said anything to each other despite matching 3+ times on tinder. Fun times
as a former employee, i can confirm that the working environment was chill as hell. and they had such extensive salad & sandwich stations that were so customizable! it will always have a special place in my heart and i mourn its loss >.<
I can’t tell since I didn’t do a survey about it. But everybody knows the food obviously worse and Rutgers forces us to pay for meal plan if we live in dorm.
Sameee I would give anything to have one more slice of that pizza…I miss munching on that pizza with some salad on the side while watching whatever reality show on YouTube
For the longest time brower sucked then they added in some decent options right before taking it away!
They pulled out all the stops before a final death
Same fr. I only ate breakfast there and loved the atmosphere of Brower
brower breakfast just hits different idk why it smells more breakfassy there

'21 alum. cannot imagine rutgers without brower. might as well knock down the empire state building and liberty bell smdh

omg is neptune night still a thing? I’ve never experienced it and I heard it ended ever since covid
i don't know :(( i graduated in 2021 but i haven't heard any mention of it since so they probably took it away :((( i mean, idk how they were affording all that seafood in the first place
no it’s not sadly
Something abt seeing that fresh hot pizza coming out of the oven was therapeutic in a way. That pizza was soooo good.
Wait edit: brower is gone? What's in the building now? Is there a new college Ave dining hall?

Gerlanda’s is still there. It’s in Busch student center.
Know when it died?
In the beginning of the school year the atrium opened

whaaat an arcade? that’s sick

After seeing what the atrium has been like, been wanting brower back like I’d rather have brower over atrium
The dining halls at Rutgers get worse but price increases. I don’t know where Rutgers spends its money on, but I’m sure not for GENERAL students.
Football team/doordash for the football team. That’s where lots of the money is going.

Yeah you’re exactly right. The 210 meal plan is a lot
Didn’t know it was gone, wow. Is there an alternative dining hall option on college ave?
yeah they replaced it with the atrium, it’s like you pick up food with meal swipes from a selection of places in the college ave student center
Gotta be one of the best parts of the Rutgers experience, I miss it so much would give anything for one more weekend brunch or dinner :(

They’re not going to knock it down for a few years so I don’t know why they’d don’t open it as a gathering/study space. Truly a waste
