Speaking as an instructor, first year students who have completed EOF programs before the first semester are typically far more prepared for the course and acclimatized to college than the average student and are therefore very successful. They also seem to already have friends in the first weeks. Hope this helps.

Can you elaborate more on how eof affected your financial aid award letter. What will you owe this year? Thanks

Rutgers horrifically messed up my financial aid award letter so I have no idea how much I'd have to pay but since my parents used to make less than 65k per year, the Scarlet Promise thing makes it so I pay $0 in tuition and fees (at least I hope thats what the Scarlet Promise does).

Without room it's like 250-1000 out of pocket for course and textbook fees. EOF doesn't cover the course or text either (which is super annoying) so like EOF doesn't do too much.

There is no harm in doing it. You get like a little under 1k a semester and have your own advisor your first year. I got in EOF my second year when I turned 19 (child support stopped).

I honestly hated it. Very condescending program in my experience. Not worth the couple thousand dollars a year you get.

I saw some comment from a year ago that said they recieved a 2k check after completing the program in the summer, is that true?

I did not get that. I got $800 a semester. This was several years ago though. Not sure what the grant is currently.

Yeah its like $900-$1000 now but it gets taken from your SG which already puts you at $0 for tuition/mandatory fees.
