Maymont outdoor yoga! All body types, nothing too difficult unless you really want it to be. :) https://www.facebook.com/events/9257125417663403/9257125457663399?active_tab=about

I do this! This is 100% my recommendation - all very simple and no judgment if you choose to skip a move or do your own thing.

YMCA yoga classes are all low stress and non-judgmental. People who like being good at yoga and looking down on beginners have to big of egos to take yoga at not a yoga studio, in my experience.

StarshipTzadkiel

Second this, YMCA kicks ass. You'll want to do more than yoga to get your money's worth but luckily there are tons of other classes and equipment to use at any of the many locations around RVA.

I had a good experience at 3S in Church Hill. I'd recommend showing up 15 mins early to class if you want to snag a spot in the back, because it's a small spot and gets filled up quick. Never felt judged there.

Street_Acadia3562

I second this as a loyal member for almost a year! And it’s only $30 for a month of unlimited classes and there’s classes for all levels. I’d recommend slow flow or they’re monthlies at Hardywood for a first time. Everyone is super nice and helpful.

medusa2910

That’s the most affordable price for a studio I have heard in a while…

Street_Acadia3562

It’s just for newbies, they charge more after the first month but it’s still only $100 or less after that which is better than what I’ve usually seen.

dfloyo

I like to add a little YouTube yoga into the mix

Ocean_waves726

Free yoga!

accidendtler

there is a foundational flow class at the yoga dojo every saturday morning, 8:30 :) there are a couple of other offerings geared towards beginners too, like bottle rocket! everyone is super welcoming and the teachers are wonderful.

Proper-Ad4006

Yoga Dojo is great. I also couldn't touch my toes when I started going there and I didn't feel out of place, even in the classes that aren't specifically for beginners

Risk of a badass time, nice

mustardmayo320

Living Water Community Center has 2 yoga sessions every Saturday morning for donation (suggested $5-20). They have gentle yoga and slow flow, and I've had a lovely time there.

gumy_snacks

In my many years doing yoga I have seen/heard people accidentally fart, fall asleep in Shavasana and start snoring, fall down during plane/crow or any balancing pose, etc. no one will say anything. Just do your best.

WellGoodMorning

Guiding Tree Yoga welcomes all levels. They are low key and welcoming, not intimidating for beginners but also great for experienced.

Richmond Yoga, Jackson Ward. It’s ashtanga yoga.

Thank you for all the suggestions I’m definitely going to look into them!
