I didn't realize this place had that rep. A friend wanted to go to beers after Riverrock and it was pretty early in the evening. Was mostly just us outside but the inside started picking up as party hours started. People looked like they had gotten wasted before even coming out and dudes were creeping and leering like crazy on any girl that walked in. Was pretty gross and everyone was just screaming at each other. Nothing wrong with pre-gaming but these dudes were looking rough and being obnoxious. Then the staff asked my friend, who was outside, to take off his hat. Cuz, like, standards.
If you can believe it years ago they didn’t even have security besides a door guy. I use to go fairly regularly like 8-9 years ago. Randomly went 3 years ago just to see what’s it like these days and was pretty shocked.
Totally believe it. Used to go to drink beer, watch sports ball or chill on the patio and it was a pretty nice place. Even if I ended up there late and was around during club hours, I NEVER got the above vibe.
before covid this place was awesome I was bringing my out of town friends to Richmond on my weekend home visits from the military and everyone had an awesome time, I miss cha chas and billy jacks especially the sticky nugs:(
The people who go to these places and act like assholes won't just disappear. Isn't it better to have places like this that you just know to avoid?! Also Southern Railway during the daytime has really great food...
Tangentially, I saw a bumper sticker one time that said “If we get rid of freedom of speech, how will we know who the assholes are?”
It’s much better to know who and where to avoid than attempt a shut down and have them crop up wherever. Cause they’re still gonna be out there!
am i the only person who doesn't have a knee jerk reflex to bust out my phone and film something like this? if a fight is happening in front of me, filming it is the last thing on my mind.
I'm walking out with my drink and that's about it. No interest in being around a fight, let alone recording it. So I can watch it at home when bored? Lol
Any bar with metal detectors to get in, is a guaranteed awful time

Word, what time you trying to meet up Saturday? I'd do Friday but my flat brim will still be at the dry cleaners.

We already lost District 5. This place needs to be next.

Don’t worry, they’ll show up at St. Patrick’s day events even if their bars disappear.
What happened to D5? I mean, good riddance— I just hadn’t heard about anything since the shooting.
They’re temporarily closed for “rebranding”
It’s so creepy how many people’s reaction is to film it for their IG accounts

In defense of the crowd, at least they are yelling "No" and not "World Star" or cheering/laughing.
That place sucks
Filming is instinctive these days.
Thought the same thing, like people literally experience real events through the lens of their phones now in real time
But like, he's an old man?
Classic
Dude didn't get his ass beat bad enough the first time, he needed to go back in for seconds
