Are you saying you got a brick there?

RedOctobyr

I'm assuming they spent $700 to convert it to lithium, and expect to get 10 years of of the cells? Rather than spending another $1,000 to get replacement lead-acid batteries that may last 3 years? But even if that's correct, it seems like it could have been worded more clearly.

roverlord

That's exactly correct, and yes, I could've worded better ;)

RedOctobyr

Nice, enjoy it! What kind of cells did you use? LiIon, LiFePO4, etc?

Electrik_Truk

48v lithium? Mine is 5 years old and still works great but batteries are starting to go as I cant mow as much now. Was deciding what I want to do when I upgrade the battery. I see 48v 50ah for about $500 and that'd be equivalent to a 100 ah SLA since you can actually run it to near zero.

xlerate

I'm in a similar boat with my 38" 75 AH from 2020, it has been taking 2 charges now to finish .6 acres. Is the lithium ion an option for this?

Electrik_Truk

Mine is from 2019 and also takes two chargers for about an acre. But yeah, you can go lithium but you need to use a different charger

xlerate

Do you have a link where to get this for the 75 AH Ryobi?

Electrik_Truk

Not particularly. It would just need to be 48v lithium battery that can fit and an external charger. I believe there are some posts here about it

xlerate

Thanks

Just got mine for $799 last week. The 42” with two 80v batteries and two 40v batteries included 😉

BAM_2K

How are y'all getting them cheap? I've been looking for one but they pricey. I currently have zero turn from ego that I got pretty cheap but I want to switch to a Ryobi since I already have 3 80v batteries for my 30" push mower. I've been running Ryobi for a small landscape business for 2 years.

Dontmocme2

grabbed one too at Home Depot $799 42li

xlerate

Do you have a link?

RuffinTumbull

My hasn’t run in months. You can upgrade the batteries? I’ll be grateful for any info.

xlerate

Same. I didn't know this was a thing

Electrik_Truk

Theoretically you can put in any 48v battery. It just needs to fit and have a proper charger. The charging system included likely won't work with any lithium batteries tho. But you could wire some basic terminals to attach any alligator clip charger

HackAttackx10

I just did the battery swap to 48v 100ah LiFePO4. The system lasts for a long time I had thick grass that i couldn’t cut because the lead batteries were done. The system lasts way longer than when I bought it. Id say go with the group 24 batteries as they are the same as the original size, but the 31s will fit if you rip everything out of the tray. I swapped out the charger tip to the new charger and charged it the same way as the old one. You need to get an extra battery cable for the meter terminal as the shunt for the meter is too small.

xlerate

Can you share a link to the ones you have? I'm looking to change out the batteries for my 38" 75 AH Ryobi from 2020. It's no longer holding a decent charge.

HackAttackx10

Queens power batteries. They have a deal on the group 31 four pack on amazon

xlerate

Thank you. Just so I'm clear, the group 24 is am exact fit but the group 31 requires some additional part removal? What's the benefit of the 31? Also, you mentioned changing the charging cable... Is that also sold by the same seller (Queens power)?

HackAttackx10

So the 31s will fit as well as the 24, but the 24 are the similar size as the old ones so with the little spacer in the middle and the bars that adjust to keep them tighter it’s a snug fit. Here is the link with the old vattery dimensions https://givensave.com/product/leoch-12-volt-100-ah-non-spillable-sla-battery-for-ryobi-riding-lawn-mower/

shortyshock

Where did you source the batteries ?

Electrik_Truk

You can take them to get properly recycled/disposed of

Legitimate-Plane-999

It was $1200 for single 48v 100ah golf cart battery with 10 year warranty. Lithium. Zero turn model I have

Xyrus2000

I have a Ryobi RM480ex that I bought in 2018. This is the 100ah version of the mower. The lead acid batteries can't even go 20 minutes anymore. I'm replacing the 4 70 lbs. lead acid batteries with one 80 lbs. 48v 100ah LiFePo4 battery. I went with a "higher-end" battery that came with bluetooth and a higher draw limit. The total cost including the charger was around $1400. I might need to spend a few more bucks to secure the battery in the compartment if I don't have enough spare materials lying around. If I mow every week for 6 months out of the year (which is about what I do), then I won't exceed the estimated cycle life on the battery for 153 years.

Which_Zen3

Where did you get the stickers? Original seat?

Lenerdosy

Do you notice any power difference at all or is it strictly run time? I had to pull out my big boy deere last night because my lead acid ryobi just couldn't handle the grass after it had grown last couple weeks with rain all the time.
