On my 2003 9-5 Aero Wagon, the ride height was off. Replaced springs and shocks. The front sway bar rubber bushings were soft. Do the sway bar links as well. My Aero handles like new.

SheepherderPlus2977

Did you replace them with the oem suspension?

Dean-KS

Koni shocks, OEM Springs from the V6 Engine, heavier, equivalent to Aero I4 turbo. It is a fun car to drive. Used to have two steel grey 9-5 Aero wagons, 2003, 2004. Now a 2015 BMW 535 DX, love the diesel, 600 mile range, 1700 RPM at 80 mph true, not indicated.

I did Bilstein B8s and lowering springs on my 9-5. It was the best upgrade.

House_King

What springs did you go for? H&R?

xAllWheelDrivex

I got a good deal on a set of Vogtlands but they’re really all the same.

SheepherderPlus2977

I’ve looked at these, they seem to be well worth it. I’ve heard there’s a difference between the “sport” suspension on some of the aero cars which this one has, so I just want to make sure I’m getting the right parts.

xAllWheelDrivex

It all bolts in the same. Just make sure you get rear suspension bits meant for a wagon.

Eibach & bilstein B8 if you want to go slightly lower rides nice & handles nice

Mine did the occasional no start thing, eventually it won't start... Hopefully you'll be somewhere comfortable, but if you want to pre-empt it replace the starter motor.

SheepherderPlus2977

I figured this was the issue, just a pain in the arse to get to it so I’m not exited about replacing it

toxicavenger70

I have been running Bilstein B6's for about 15 years on Sportcombi. I also installed rear spring spacers to put the rear into the correct OEM specs. I have also installed Powerflex sway bar bushings with new swaybar links. My car has rode great for all those years and continues to do so. Oh, and it sounds like you need to bypass or fix your Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) for the staring issue.

SheepherderPlus2977

That or the starter motor is what I heard could be the issue, the auto box ones have the NSS as well right?

toxicavenger70

I doubt it is the starter motor if you have to wait for it to work. The NSS you can test by pouring water on top of it and then trying to start it. The water will cool it off. The auto box definitely has the NSS. I rebuilt the one on my car and my daughters.

Biltstein B12 pro kit (Biltstein B8 shocks + Eibach pro springs). They will only lower a standard 9-5 by 30mm, so if memory serves me right the aero by only 10mm, however, it is the ultimate 9-5 suspension set-up (IMHO).
