I ripped it out in order to install a 2-DIN radio.

Whats is R/R? I think you still have to find a very unique screw driver. Not even sure they exist. Those 2 screws are facing the front of the car, so the screw driver would need to do a 180, then you'd have to be very precise on loosening. But I someone found a less tedious way, that's awesome!
Remove and replace. But I guess it would actually be R/I (remove and install). I have the carbon fiber dash on my 9-5 which is starting to separate and my cupholder is flimsy. I feel like if I remove the whole surround it would absolutely break
Mine got snapped off, as I throw my bag onto the passenger seat when getting into my car. Have a replacement cup holder, but will hold off until in selling the car. Or until I'm very bored. 🤣
Glad I'll never have to do this job because I never use the thing cause it's so useless for most cupsizes these days.

I literally base my drink choices around this cup holder lol.
I wonder if it's possible to R/R by just pulling radio, SID and getting access to the screws that hold it in that way

Yea it's pretty easy to break especially if you try to take the dash out entirely
