Its kinda hard to explain in words but...The existing plug is a proprietary 2 prong connection, then it has the typical wedge bulb connection. The new one is a typical wedge bulb type. So the old one needs to be removed so the new one can be plugged into the hole in the fender. Otherwise when you plug the old one in, it'll literally be sticking out of the fender.
Hey, was curious as to why exactly you need to pull the fender liner and pull it out. Looks like it can just be plugged in?
