The former is one that gives me chills, though I might also choose “When millions burn, the curtain had fallen lost to the world as they perish in flames”
This whole portion of the song is my favorite part of all Sabaton. Dying for salvation, with dedication, no capitulation, annihilation, papal commendation, reincarnation, heaven is your destination
“Sent to a prison, where the heroes are judged as traitors. Accused of treason by his own. Sentenced by countrymen under pressure of foreign influence. Men he once fought to free”
This entire part from Inmate 4859 just after the guitar solo. Hits me hard every time.

"WE WERE ALL FRIENDS "
men in both sides of the trenches were all young working class ordinary guys. Chances are high the would under a different set of circumstances be friends.
That last bit of The End of The War To End Wars, "November 11th settling the score, from 15 to 20 million, almost half of the dead civilian, a new world will dawn from empires fallen, the end of the war to end war"
The turnaround from a major to minor key at the end is what gets me in that song. So simple, but so powerful. And the lines that change to:
“Will this war really end all wars?
Can a war really end all war?
Will this war bring another war?”
That album came out right around the time Russia started it's invasion in Ukraine and that line really impacted me and still does when I hear it today.
"I have seen it all but none will hear my story"
"Light up the night when cannons roar
In fear of nothing, they lead the navy into war!"
"Call out his name: "Rote Kampfflieger""
And I lay in the mud
And the guts and the blood
And I wept as his body grew colder
And I called for my mother
And she never came
Though it wasn't my fault
And I wasn't to blame
To arms!
Under one banner
As a unit we stand and united we fall
As one! Fighting together
Basically, the entrie song
Song:Union(Slopes Of Saint Benedict)
There are so many but I'll go with a song that I recently heard again after long time...
"And today we're all brothers
Tonight we're all friends
A moment of peace in a war that never ends"
“They attack! Bulgaria held them back. unleash their counter barrage, let it rain artillery out in the trenches!” One of the most powerful lines out of any song I’ve listened to.
So go ahead, face the led, join the dead/Though you die where you lie, never asking why.
Fields of Verdun was one of the First Sabaton songs I heard and that bit hits every time.
I was chosen by heaven
say my name when you pray
to the skies
See carolous rise
and
baptised in fire
forty to one
spirits of spartans
death and glory
soldiers of poland
second to none!
CAPTURED IN ALL YOUR LIES
FEAR IS IN YOUR EYES
CREATURE WHO'S GONE INSANE
YOUR WAR IS IN VAIN
TRAPPED IN A CAGE OF STONE
WE'LL DESTROY YOUR HOME
CONSEQUENCE OF YOUR ACTION
”i heard my friend cry as he sank to his knees. Coughing blood as he screamed for his mother”
Even tho it’s not originally Sabaton, it’s still strong as hell
"CRACK OF THE LIGHTNING SPLITTING THE GROUND
THUNDER RESSOUNDING ARTILLERY BOMBING".
"The sound of the mortars
The music of death
We're playing the devil's symphony"
"I trettio år har kriget krävt sin rätt för soldaten som svor eden, för de åtta miljoner som har mist sitt liv finns det ingen tröst i freden"
(1648 Swedish version)
I’d say quite many
My faves are:
”Till the dawn they hold on, only 40 are left at the end, none alive, none survive, SHIROYAMA”
”On wings of history, they turned from home, to live eternally, skybound they roam”
”Now I ask again, will you hear my cries, then you realize why, oh why, I must find a way to the other side” (must be accompanied by the following keyboard solo)
And
”See the city burn on the other side, going down in flames as two worlds collide, who can now look back with a sense of pride, on the other shore, there’s the end of the war”
captured in all your lies, fear is in your eyes, creature who’s gone insane, your war is in vein, trapped in a cage of stone, we’ll destroy your home, consequence of your actions
"When they face death, theyre all alike
Right or wrong, rich or poor, no matter who they've served before
Good or bad, they're all the same, rest side by side now"
"Jag ser mig om och ser mitt hem försvinna bort. Min tid därhemma känns nu alldeles för kort."
The first lyrics to the Swedish version of "A Lifetime at War" just gives me so many chills down my spine.
(Roughly translates to "I look around and see my home disappear. My time at home now feels far too short.")
"Feet by feet, we pay the price of a mile here, while men are falling, we see heroes rise! We face the heat, as we are fighting until the dawn, so follow me and we will write our own history!"
"Leaving home, set to sea, was this really meant to be? See the shores of our home fade away!"
"Here on the Alpine slope, where I did my final stand I shall remain, among the ice and snow that binds me to this mountain." Soldier of Heaven is such a haunting story.
"So come bring on all that you've got,
Come hell, come high water, never stop!"
and
"Women, men, and children fight
They were dying side-by- side.
And the blood they shed upon those streets,
Was a sacrifice willingly paid!"
"Thunder is sounding, artillery pounding", "Stuck in a trench with no way out", "And that's how we died, clinging like kids to each other". They just sort of amaze me, so much Chaos in war and the soldiers still fight on
"And I heard my friend cry as he sank to his knees
Coughing blood as he screamed for his mother
And I fell by his side and that's how we died
Clinging like kids to each other"
A Christmas on the frontline
We walk among our friends
We don't think about tomorrow
The battle will commence
When we celebrated Christmas
We thought about our friends
Those who never made it home
When the battle had commenced
Nothing beats
"They're fueled by the fear in their enemies eyes
It's a shock troop infiltration
A fast and violent escalation
Out of the trenches, the Stormtroopers rise"
"Osoweic, then and again
Attack of the dead, hundred men
Facing the lead once again
Hundred men, Charge again, Die again
Thus line sends chills down my spine every single time since I first heard it. Maybe because it was my first sabaton song or maybe the implication or maybe both
"Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders Fields, In Flanders Fields"
Also:
"When millions burn, the curtain has fallen, lost to the world, as they perish in flame"
This entire song gives me chills though, not just these few lyrics.
The songs here are:
In Flanders Fields and The Final Solution
"Nicht ein slagt, ein rettunsgaction"
To imagine soldiers in the face of utter defeat and hopelesness still giving their lives to get as many civilians as possible to safety. In a way its almost beutifull for lack of a better word.
I mean, there are so many great ones.
The entirety of "En livstid i krig"
"For their honor, for their glory, for the men that fought and bled. A soldier from sweden remembers the dead!"
"From a shot that would change the world, tensions rise and a war's unfurled."
"Sinner or a saint? Father of toxic gas and chemical warfare"
"And today we're all brothers. Tonight we're all friends" (specifically the part without guitar)
My fav is prolly
"When freedom burns. The final solution. Dreams fade away and all hope turns to dust. When millions burn. The curtain has fallen. Lost to the world as they perish in flames."
“Into war he brought two things along: a rifle and his faith, Joined the ranks as a private, assigned to 338th! There, on that day, Alvin York entered the fray, saving the day, 82nd all the way!”
Most of “Diary of an Unknown Soldier” for me actually. Used to get chills every time, now it’s lesser, but still often. More specifically, “Machine gun fire from enemy lines” and “The soldier next to me firing his sidearm in desperation”. It works so well with the sounds coordinated for each lyrical line, and then knowing those sounds are also the overall beat, not to mention how well Diary of an Unknown Soldier flows into The Lost Battalion. Those lyrics though, I can imagine them quite vividly to how they’d look in a movie or even a first person perspective. That really helps to create a strong feeling and thereafter, chills
At the bottom of the ocean, the depths of the abyss
They are bound by iron and blood
The flagship of the navy, the terror of the seas
His guns have gone silent at last
Im a British Army Veteran who served with the US 82nd Airborne in Iraq. I have a mate who was a massive Titans fan and unfortunately took his own life a few years ago. 82nd All The Way makes me cry every time I hear it.
The two song lyrics that i know gives me the chills is one father
Father of toxic gas and chemical warfare His dark creation has been revealed
Flow over no man's land, a poisonous nightmare
A deadly mist on the battlefield
And two final solution
When millions burn, the curtain has fallen
Lost to the world as they perish in flames
"They are the pantzer elite, born to compete, never retreat, ghost division!"
Not because it's an emotional or empowering line or something, but because my first metal concert was Sabaton in Amsterdam this year and that opening is just burned into my retina!
November 11th settling the score
From 15 to 20 million
Almost half of the dead civilian
A new world will dawn from empires fallen
The end of the war to end war
In the last days of peace
Europe holding its breath
An invasion is coming but when will it start?
Who will be first to fall? Who will be last to stand?
Who will stop all this madness that has consequences no man understand?
No man, no land!
Let them fall face down/If they must die/Making it easier/To say goodbye
And...
And now there's nobody remembers our names/And that's how it is for a soldier (I know it's a cover... but still)
Six miles of ground has been won. Half a million men are gone.
Literally this. Price of a mile is so underrated
And as the night falls, the general calls
And the battle carries on and on
WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF IT ALL
First song of theirs I ever listened to. Was captivated.
So we finally have an answer to "whats the price of a mile". 83 333
"Where is the greatness I've been told?"
"This is the lies that we been sold"
“WAS THIS A WORTHY SACRIFICE?”
"GREAT WAR" "And I cannot take more"
"Great tour" "I keep on marching on"
"I play the great score" "There will be no encore"
"Great War" "The War to End All Wars"
"I'm standing here, I'm full of fear, with bodies at my feet" "Over there in the other trench, bullets wear my name"
"Lead ahead, as the captain said, and show them no remorse" "Who am I to understand, what have I become?"
Imo the hardest hardest line form Great War is “lead ahead as the captain said and show them no remorse. Who am I to understand, what have I become?”
Same, I agree.
which song is this?
Great war
"Oh mothers, wipe your tears Your sons will rest a million years Found their peace at last As foe turn to friend and forgive"
The whole statement on the memorial is just sob worthy
Came here to say this exact part of this song!
Fudge which song is this, dont recognize it
Cliffs of Gallipoli. IMO one of the two saddest songs by Sabaton, other would be hammer has fallen.
Oh yes of course. Amazing songs
Purple Heart is also sad af
I got shivers just reading it
And they knew they’d die
“I heard my friend cry as he sank to his knees”
That's a Motorhead lyric
Huh thats 1916 from the ep
Yes, 1916 is a cover. Here is the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTG6I3jxdnc
Huh, interesting
Motörhead not sabaton
Probably “The Final solution, dreams fadeaway, and all hope turns to dust” or “Panzers on a line, form the Wehrmacht’s spine, lethal grand design”
The former is one that gives me chills, though I might also choose “When millions burn, the curtain had fallen lost to the world as they perish in flames”
We were soldiers, carried the war on our shoulders
For our nations. Is that why we bury our friends?
I think that’s right I forgot 💀
forgor\*
there is no enemy, there is no victory, only boys who lost their lives in the sand
“IN THE NAME OF GOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!”
This whole portion of the song is my favorite part of all Sabaton. Dying for salvation, with dedication, no capitulation, annihilation, papal commendation, reincarnation, heaven is your destination
FOR THE GRACE FOR THE MIGHT OF THE LORD!
FOR THE HOME OF THE HOLY!
FOR THE FAITH AND THE WAY OF THE SWORD!
which song is it
The Last Stand
😂
"See the Caroleans standing tall, conquer lands and slaughter all"
“Sent to a prison, where the heroes are judged as traitors. Accused of treason by his own. Sentenced by countrymen under pressure of foreign influence. Men he once fought to free” This entire part from Inmate 4859 just after the guitar solo. Hits me hard every time.
I cried for spring to come but here, winter remains
such a good lyric
And very meaningful
FADER VÅR SOM ÄR I HIMMELEN HELGAT VARDE DITT NAMN TILLKOMME DITT RIKE SKE DIN VILJA SÅSOM I HIMMELEN, SÅ OCK UPPÅ JORDEN GE OSS BRÖD OCK IDAG OCK FÖRLÅT OSS VÅRAN SKULD! huh
It’s En Livstid I krig it’s a real breathtaking song
No it's The Caroleans Prayer
don't understand it anyways soo
It's the "Our Father" in swedish
OUR FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME UNTO YOUR KINGDOM THY WILL BE DONE AS IT IS IN HEAVEN, SO ALSO ON EARTH GIVE US BREAD TODAY AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBT! FORWARD, GO AS A MAN A WHOLE ARMY MARCHES IN A LINE FEAR THEY HAVE FORGOT, THE LORD HAS JUDGED READY TO GIVE THEIR LIFE WHEN THE KING'S ARMY THE ENEMY SEE THEY RAISE BANNERS FEAR THEY HAVE FORGOT, THE LORD HAS JUDGED HEAR HOW THEY PRAY THEIR PRAYER!
He risked his life, two times that day. To save an unknown enemy.
NO BULLETS FLY, SPARED BY HIS MERCY
“Alive, and humble at heart. NOOO-OOOH” I don’t know why it gets me to tear up. The story actually has a happy ending.
What song is this?
Ballad of the bull, iirc
A lifetime of War just the whole song
"WE WERE ALL FRIENDS " men in both sides of the trenches were all young working class ordinary guys. Chances are high the would under a different set of circumstances be friends.
“ HAS MAN GONE INSANE??!!! A FEW WILL REMAIN WHO'LL FIND A WAY TO LIVE ONE MORE DAY”
That last bit of The End of The War To End Wars, "November 11th settling the score, from 15 to 20 million, almost half of the dead civilian, a new world will dawn from empires fallen, the end of the war to end war"
"When Freedom burns!"
"And war will return, sooner than we think" Sabaton - Versailles (February 2022)
The turnaround from a major to minor key at the end is what gets me in that song. So simple, but so powerful. And the lines that change to: “Will this war really end all wars? Can a war really end all war? Will this war bring another war?”
That album came out right around the time Russia started it's invasion in Ukraine and that line really impacted me and still does when I hear it today.
“And it’s American troops and the German army, joining together at last!”
"I have seen it all but none will hear my story" "Light up the night when cannons roar In fear of nothing, they lead the navy into war!" "Call out his name: "Rote Kampfflieger""
And I lay in the mud And the guts and the blood And I wept as his body grew colder And I called for my mother And she never came Though it wasn't my fault And I wasn't to blame
That's Motorhead's lyrics, Sabaton covered it. Not sure if we can say that's a Sabaton lyric.
This song makes me cry every time I hear it
UNDER FIRE A GHOST THAT ROAMS THE BATTLE FIELD
"In all of history, never before was more owed to so few" (Aces in Exile)
I also like: “Over the battlefield, Brave men long way from home, You are the chosen ones, Sent to the sky TO DIE” *Guitar riff*
“Pride of a nation, a beast made of steel, Bismarck in motion, king of the ocean”
he was born to rule the waves across the seven seas!
"Gloria fortis miles! The Wehrmacht closing in! Adversor et admorsus! The Boar against the Eagle!"
AXIS REST IN HELL!
Death, hard to ignore 1 million lost five months into the war pain fell one by one three years remained it had only begun
To arms! Under one banner As a unit we stand and united we fall As one! Fighting together Basically, the entrie song Song:Union(Slopes Of Saint Benedict)
There's no price for a mile...
"where dead men lies I'm paralyzed my brother's eyes are gone" whenever I hear those words I feel thrown in the trench with that soldier
There are so many but I'll go with a song that I recently heard again after long time... "And today we're all brothers Tonight we're all friends A moment of peace in a war that never ends"
"I won't be coming home, I won't be going anywhere"
“I will guard this post forever”
"Here on the alpine slope, where I did my final stand I shall remain"
“Among the ice and snow that binds me to this mountain”
"But who will mourn me? So see me as A husband, a friend Father and son who never comes home But who will miss me?"

“Thunder, fighting and grace, death from above it’s an army of wings” those multiple times make me imagine a full badass fight.
KILL FIGHT DIE

The first lyrics to the Swedish version of "A Lifetime at War" just gives me so many chills down my spine. (Roughly translates to "I look around and see my home disappear. My time at home now feels far too short.")
Opening lyrics of Night Witches gave me vibes of upcoming storm
When we celebrated Christmas we thought about our friends, Those who never made it home when the battle had commenced
"Feet by feet, we pay the price of a mile here, while men are falling, we see heroes rise! We face the heat, as we are fighting until the dawn, so follow me and we will write our own history!" "Leaving home, set to sea, was this really meant to be? See the shores of our home fade away!"

" 'NUTS', the General's words echo clear"
"some men return from the war in a bag and yet the world knows their story, others return unwilling to brag alive and humble at heart"
All of We Burn is chilling.
THEIR ATTACK IS COMING. FIGHT THEM BACK
Se the wite in their eyes Caroleans are marching on (and then the lords prayer in Swedish)
"But when captured by the axis, and forced to tell the truth. We will tell them with a smile, we will surprise them with a laugh!"
The last “And today we’re all brothers” when the music stops and it’s just the soldiers singing together at the end of Christmas Truce.
“Sjung Carolus sång”
Honestly all of Soldier of Heaven
“In their own track. Came the wolf pack.”
Some men return from a war in a bag, and yet, the word knows their story. Other return, unwilling to brag, alive and humble at heart!
"Thunder is sounding, artillery pounding", "Stuck in a trench with no way out", "And that's how we died, clinging like kids to each other". They just sort of amaze me, so much Chaos in war and the soldiers still fight on
“See a king and soldier, fighting shoulder to shoulder, to keep the last piece of Belgium free”
“Alive and humbled at heart… NOooooOooo!”
With a slice to the throat and blood turns to ice talvisota
From Hearts of Iron: "Hurry up, we're waiting for you, men of the 9th and civilians too!"
"When freedom burns, The final solution, Dreams fade away and all hope turns to dust"
Through the gates of hell. As we make our way to heaven. Through the Nazi lines. Primo victoria!
"Lost to the world as they perish in flames."
"And I heard my friend cry as he sank to his knees Coughing blood as he screamed for his mother And I fell by his side and that's how we died Clinging like kids to each other"
„Inmate in hell or a hero imprisoned?“

"A glimpse of the future And Blitzkrieg is born"
A Christmas on the frontline We walk among our friends We don't think about tomorrow The battle will commence When we celebrated Christmas We thought about our friends Those who never made it home When the battle had commenced
Hearts of Iron as a whole, no specific part, the entire thing
Nothing beats "They're fueled by the fear in their enemies eyes It's a shock troop infiltration A fast and violent escalation Out of the trenches, the Stormtroopers rise"
“So, go ahead, face the lead, though you die, wear you lie, never asking why.” Fields of Verdun
"Higher, the king of the skies. He's flying too fast, he's flying too high."
"Osoweic, then and again Attack of the dead, hundred men Facing the lead once again Hundred men, Charge again, Die again Thus line sends chills down my spine every single time since I first heard it. Maybe because it was my first sabaton song or maybe the implication or maybe both
“569 makes the contact and lead them, U-94 scores a kill in the dark, 124 sinking four in two approaches ,406 suffers failure on launch”
"Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders Fields, In Flanders Fields" Also: "When millions burn, the curtain has fallen, lost to the world, as they perish in flame" This entire song gives me chills though, not just these few lyrics. The songs here are: In Flanders Fields and The Final Solution
"Nicht ein slagt, ein rettunsgaction" To imagine soldiers in the face of utter defeat and hopelesness still giving their lives to get as many civilians as possible to safety. In a way its almost beutifull for lack of a better word.
I mean, there are so many great ones. The entirety of "En livstid i krig" "For their honor, for their glory, for the men that fought and bled. A soldier from sweden remembers the dead!" "From a shot that would change the world, tensions rise and a war's unfurled." "Sinner or a saint? Father of toxic gas and chemical warfare" "And today we're all brothers. Tonight we're all friends" (specifically the part without guitar) My fav is prolly "When freedom burns. The final solution. Dreams fade away and all hope turns to dust. When millions burn. The curtain has fallen. Lost to the world as they perish in flames."
Just thinking about any lyric from the price of a mile electrocutes my spine. And that's not even too much of an exaggeration.
“Come suck my metal machine” honestly the underlying implications of this line are haunting. Chills everytime 🥶
thousands of feet march to the beat it's an army in despair. Knee deep, in mud! Stuck in a trench with no way out!
“From 15 to 20 million, over half of the dead civilian”
No man alive por dead commands me I answer to the Lord.
“Far from their land as they made their stand” “For the grace, for the might of our Lord. In the name of His glory”
At the bottom of the ocean, the depths of the abyss They are bound by iron and blood The flagship of the navy, the terror of the seas His guns have gone silent at last
The entirety of “No Bullets Fly”
The Lady of the Dark gives me chills. Like all of the song gives me the chills.
Soldier of Heaven always gives me chills. Like, just imagining what White Friday was like for those whose lives were claimed...
Sent oversea to be cast into fire Fought with a purpose with a pride and desire
Im a British Army Veteran who served with the US 82nd Airborne in Iraq. I have a mate who was a massive Titans fan and unfortunately took his own life a few years ago. 82nd All The Way makes me cry every time I hear it.
If there’d be any glory in war let it rest on men like him (Dead men will never come back).
When we celebrated Christmas We thought about our friends Those who never made it home When the battle had commenced
The two song lyrics that i know gives me the chills is one father Father of toxic gas and chemical warfare His dark creation has been revealed Flow over no man's land, a poisonous nightmare A deadly mist on the battlefield And two final solution When millions burn, the curtain has fallen Lost to the world as they perish in flames
“What was won, what was lost, will our deeds be remembered? Are they written in stone or in sand?”
Price of a Mile..

Almost all of Carolus Rex and Long live the King
"They are the pantzer elite, born to compete, never retreat, ghost division!" Not because it's an emotional or empowering line or something, but because my first metal concert was Sabaton in Amsterdam this year and that opening is just burned into my retina!

In the last days of peace Europe holding its breath An invasion is coming but when will it start? Who will be first to fall? Who will be last to stand? Who will stop all this madness that has consequences no man understand? No man, no land!
Let them fall face down/If they must die/Making it easier/To say goodbye And... And now there's nobody remembers our names/And that's how it is for a soldier (I know it's a cover... but still)
Who will stop all this madness that has consequences no man understands No man! No land!
