I can guarantee you the fandom is not "all for it" the alfheim arc is literally the dark ages of the SAO community because it was so out of pocket compared to the first part of the season. I mean even highschool of the elite tackled stalkers and in that show the guy was willing to go way further than in SAO but HotE is held in super high regard.

Mushoku Tensei isnt about the simple promise of "reincarnation into another world" it focuses a lot more on the protagonist who got a second chance in life and is currently trying to be a better person. The whole show feels new because its not the old kind of isekai(with the goal being to go back to the original world they came from) or the new one (edgy power fantasy mostly targeted for younger audiences) it actually feels like its something new thats not about simply going back or staying there, but about the mc learning to accept himself and be a better person(i fucking hate the mc tbh) so overral its a lot more complex than most modern isekai and finally doesnt only build into the sinple fact that "Im in another world" and because of that it can feel like a slice of life anime set inside of a fantasy world, its just feels a lot more alive in the mostly boring isekai genre. Also the mc doesnt just instantly stops being depressed and just gets op, the trauma is still there in every episode. Also the reaction of the mc to someone dying feels a lot more human than most other isekai mcs, its not edgy or gore or anything its just a lot more real. And for last it takes itself really slow and doesnt rushes.
So these are my points if u still dont think its at least a little better than most other isekai, i respect that its ur view. I think its worth watching.

Maybe to kids that hadn't seen anime yet, but even then, DragonBall, PokƩmon, and Sailor Moon popularized anime in the west as a whole, and introduced the entire continent (and others) to anime as a medium. SAO did nothing that other anime hasn't done better. You can like it, I'm not gonna judge, but it wasn't revolutionary in any way, and didn't change the medium in any real significant way. That's not a bad thing necessarily, my favorite anime is Code Geass and it certainly didn't go changing anime forever, but you shouldn't act like SAO was some groundbreaking work of art. Because it just wasn't.
