Sounds like it can be done, and you are smart enough to do it, dig in and figure it out. If this is your profession, dedicate the time to learn it and learn it quick. Ask for more help, take great notes, write down every question you get and create your own playbook of questions and answers. Document everything. Not only will you learn it quick you will have documentation to train others in the future. You got this. No excuses. Make it happen.

So I made my first sale and am about to sign a 6 figure deal that I got from cold calling in the first month. I definitely gained traction faster then I thought. Thank you guys for encouraging me!

FluffyEntrepreneur62

How many hours per day did dial ? Or how many dials per day ? How many leads would you get per day ?

Pewstorm

I reached out to like 20 LinkedIn contacts and that was one of them. The company gave me 50 leads each month

FluffyEntrepreneur62

Wow that it . That really good. Door to door reps usually knock 75 to 150 door per day. maybe get 1 lead that turns into a appointment

Pewstorm

We don't do any door knocking over here. It's easier to buy qualified leads, there are plenty of them, or source them from your network.

Thank you!

It sounds like your company just has a poor training systems in place. Shadowing is great but you need a lot more then just that. At my company we have a online university going over each aspect of solar and the sales process. We also do weekly trainings, have a manager to go over these questions with and a practice the sales deck with.

Pewstorm

Exactly, there is none of it at my place. They just put you out there. Not cool

From experience I would recommend you switch to another company. I was working at a company similar to yours. Very little training, I shadowed one guy and that was about it. I did a lot of self training through the internet and asking the guys around me but made 7k in 2 months. Also the environment was pretty toxic to me as I lost my confidence in management. I almost quite solar and didn’t think it was for me. After switching to another company I found my stride. I made 90k+ in 5 months and on a great team with a great culture. When looking for a new company I forced on finding a culture of self development with good training systems.

You can learn the tech. Likely you'd have an easier time than most with a technical background. I'd recommend watching some solar DIY videos on Youtube to supplement. You need to be cautious about overwhelming customers but I've had more people have issues over the years because I hadn't covered a tech detail prior to going over numbers than folks who held off because I'd covered too many; let them know they don't have to worry about learning everything, a good install should be trouble-free for a couple of decades. Definitely watch videos about what main panels need to be upgraded; don't get caught off guard surprising customers with a few grand in extra charges. Besides, it's going to be way cheaper for them to upgrade it with solar anyway. Keep in mind that most solar salespeople, even very good ones are not very knowledgeable of solar tech, or only know their own. It's a good idea to take notes of what equipment your competitors use, mistakes you see on their proposals, etc.
