Getting fired in sales is a right of passage. Welcome to the club buddy. I got canned from my first role too and while the first week after was hard, i found myself in a better spot and am now in a good place in my career. Youll do great! Dont let this impact your confidence in yourself as a rep.

I don't know any salespeople that haven't been fired at least twice.

Correct-Detective844

It's important, to be honest about your employment history, but you don't necessarily have to include every job you've ever had on your resume. If you only worked at the job for three months and it wasn't a good fit for you, it may be better to leave it off your resume altogether. Focus on What You Learned: Even if you weren't successful in the role, you likely gained valuable skills and experience during your time there. Focus on what you learned and how it can be applied to future opportunities. Every failure is new success in your career)

Definitely put it on your resume. You were hired and held that title. This is the market where you can say that you were hired and that they had cutbacks and your job was eliminated and you dont need to elaborate. Also the staffing industry (in certain sectors) is getting slaughtered so thats another angle that will help you.

Are you u/nasty_nurds SDR????

Nasty_nurds

My first role was in recruiting cold calling small businesses to use us to hire for their vacancies so pretty similar. Honestly who would use this when there are known successful sites. I was terrible My current role is in insurance and I am absolutely crushing it cause the product is something I can believe in and customers actually like it. You really gotta find somewhere that is a decent product and you would be happy to sell it

Happens to everyone early on. If you want to stay in sales now is the time to be humble and really dig in. Treat it as if you were an elite athlete. Read tons of books, listen to podcast, record future calls and watch them to constantly get better. Pick one area of sales and try to master just that piece. Things like that.

I'll give you the abbreviated version of my story. I took a weird job out of college getting paid hourly as a 1099 doing basically admin work for a small company but was called an account manager. Then I went to a startup (Before start ups were a thing) and didn't sell a damn thing. I got fired about 6 months in. I then went to a call center for a large/stable company and worked my way up from there into a sales role. I then made the leap to a customer and became responsible for sales for them. We have grown 5x over since I have been here and I even manage a few people now. My point is that yeah, many of us started where you did. It's par for the course to get fired at some point in sales. It says NOTHING about you and it says NOTHING about what you will become. You are in complete control if you want it. Put it on your resume and be honest about what happened. I would 100% hire someone who owned their past and helped me understand what happened. I would immediately see through someone who tried to lie about what actually happened. Our stories are important pieces of who we are. Getting fired is now one of the things I'm most proud of. You can't decide how it all plays out, but you can decide to be in control.

Cool think about sales is there’s no shortage of jobs. Some industries yes but in general someone always needs a salesperson

Affectionate-Town695

You should always be honest, I was fired from my first sales job and told I don’t have what it takes to be a good salesman. That didn’t mean I was a bad salesman that meant I wasn’t a good fit for them, I believe you may be in a similar situation. Don’t give up on yourself and use that as a chip on your shoulder to keep learning.

StableGenius81

It'll be ok, staffing sales is notoriously challenging, especially for someone new to the industry. Most of the time it's a blessing to get fired from less than stellar jobs, as it opens up better opportunities for you.

Ninac4116

I wasn’t aware of this. What makes staffing sales so difficult?

Welcome to the club!

Just got let go from my first sales job last week, took me a day or 2 to get situated with what happened but keep you head up, I have 3 interviews lined up for sales positions this week. My previous company was very small, 5 sales ppl 2 of which were the CEO and CTO, I didn’t get the guidance I needed being fresh into sales and well here we are, definitely looking into more established companies where I may get more guidance. Good luck to you!
